How far can Zangief reach into his SPD? I’ve been fighting with a Zangief guy and pretty much I get thrown.
I’m guessing about as far forward as his c.MP sticks out. I’ve grabbed Ryu just outside of his sweep range before.

Good news is that the tournament showed a lot of character variety (Karin, Ryu, Zangief, M Bison, Guy, Guile, Jedah, Felicia, Alex, Kenji, Urien, Leo, Rose for the top 8 finishers).
Bad news is that there was only 16 players compared to the 33 that entered 3rd strike.
this is sweet, from the sounds of it. zangief is getting more credit. i’m a big zangief fan. hes slow, and big. hes just a power house, i would rather use slow with simple attacks to shut people down than combos. and be patient with defense and wait for a counter attack. i love when you’re winning with zangief and people don’t even notice.
Zangief is the only Char that can win in 5 moves, 3 if he has meter.
The only thing better than them not noticing that Gief is winning, is them not noticing when Gief can make a killer comeback. Refer to my short story above.
I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned this, but how goes my baby Felicia? Does she hold up well against the rest of the cast?
She’s Fast. FAST. She’s so fast that she’ll Rip Jedah’s throat open before you can say ‘Fast’.
And her evade is FAR.
I like her really.

I played some 'Gief, today. It’s a lot of fun, even if it feels a little scrubby. I actually got a few wins; he’s not bad. However, I’m pretty much certain now that he can’t win against Jedah or Anakaris. They’re fast, and have ranged attacks which Zangief will have to block. I think there’s really nothing he can do. So, I guess you could use Zangief, but if you were playing seriously you’d have to only use your backup character when one of those guys showed up. I also think he has an incredibly uphill matchup against Ingrid, despite what some people have said. Oh, and Nool owns him for free.
He seems like a pretty nice starter character, too, since he doesn’t really need meter (but should build up a full bar by the end of a round)
Just be patient with Zangief. His jumping HP covers halfscreen.
thats only if you play jedah runaway. if you try crossing up after the spinning thing with the float then youll get piledrived quite a bit.
Hm. Any more information on Kenji (Mukuro), Felicia or Anakaris in terms of their ability to handle other characters? What is Felicia’s “Evade” I keep hearing about? Thanks.
yeah man, i use zangief’s ranging pokes with his stand medium kicks and anti air with his hard kick or couching medium punch. you learn simple techniques like jumping backwards with hard kick or hard punch, seriously. some good simple shizzle that gets the job done. oh yeah, when the opponent is aggressive, learn how to execute 360 with light punch right after their dead pressure. for example, usually when i use zangief, if ryu hurrican kick me, i would block til its done and then baam!~ 360, and it happens so fast its like a vaccuum. also, when the beeatches are turtling after being knocked down with countinued pressure, i just go close to poke them with a light kick, and then baam! another 360 with a light punch. oh man, i’m getting amp talking about this shit, i wanna play now.

Basically you are playing 3s chun with toned down HP priority and no late canceled dwn.mk.
Does anyone have anymore info on Urien? Does he have SAIII (Aegis Reflector)? Lately, i’ve been hearing dissapointing things about him. Stuff like you can’t really do much after an EX Headbutt and it’s really hard (or nearly impossible) to do multi-tackle combos. :sad: Also, is there any word on him having unblockables? As of right now, it seems that Urien is crap. :sad:
The only thing i’m happy about is that Sakura is her CvS2 incarnation. Sho sho sho xx super

Jedah really seems like the guy to beat here, he’s like a modded Mags in this game, except there are no other supermely overpowered characters to stop him. The natural counter char’s to his rushdown can be stomped by playing keep-away.
