I just did. It’s not super horrible, It could have been bad ass if they would have done it properly. There also seems to be a serious lack of characters in it. I’m not just talking shit about it, I do own the game but I was disappointed and expecting more

Oh I see, sorry :P. Well personally, despite what the game seems to have been needed for it, I personally think it’s fine though I do agree with the fact that game needs more, yet still I do enjoy playing it.

yeah, CFE was a bit above-average (not by much) and definitely playable (low-high level).

however, it was by no means a great game, and offered very little that other superiors game do better.

Talking about it made me play it again last night. The more I play it the less I feel I wasted my money, but I guess it’s just not my style. I have decided to check out the faq and see if there is anything I missed/don’t know (I’m Sure there is). I just have to find someone who will play it with me.

In Capcom’s defense, CvS series was the perfect example of blending multiple fighting engines, vast array of characters, etc. Since CFE had basically the same premise, I find it hard to accept that CFE was the best they could do (with CvS2 disproving that notion).

Basically, Capcom could’ve done CFE as well as CvS2, but didn’t. I think that’s what irks hardcore gamers more. Not the actually quality of the game (although, a strong argument can be made), but the lack of overall effort (expecially since Capcom already got the “formula” correctly with an extremely similar game: CvS2).

Well, the game was iffy for a lot of reasons.
A couple of the main SF team guys had left to form Game Republic, and some of the other people who previously worked on Capcom’s 2D fighters had jumped ship to Sammy.
That plus a declining market for fighters and general apathy on Capcom’s part, and I don’t think it’s any surprise that the game ended up being really really mediocre and broken.

I put a lot of people in bottom tier, because no one can really decide what the bottom tier is. Most people agree that Zangief and Sakura are the bottom tiers of the game, and some people will say that Chun and Alex go there, too. My personal opinion is that the low tier of the game are the ones that are largely meter dependant to do anything good, like Sakura, Yun, and Alex. Sakura is probably the worst character in this game, and the only bottom tier spot that I think everyone agrees on. I personally think that Chun and Gief are mid tier, and that Zangief is largely underrated, but most people will put Gief on bottom.

RE: Ingrid & Rose combos

The combos that people listed for Ingrid are alright - Ingrid is very much a runaway character. Try to keep people out with her projectiles and poke from behind them, and use her little Air Hurricane Kick to get out of tight spots. When you have meter, go for counters -> juggle into level 1 super. That’s pretty much the basics of Ingrid.

Rose’s B&B custom is something like… Activate -> OC.Mk x2 -> S. Hk x3 [OC.Mk x2 -> S. Hk x2 XN} -> C.Hk XX Aura Soul Throw. If that’s not it, it’s something similar.

RE: Anakaris and Jedah

Anakaris and Jedah have been regarded as top tier since day one, although some things are different now:

• Anakaris used to be considered the flat out best character, but now that people are more acquainted with the game, he’s not put on quite as high a pedestal as he used to be. He’s still top, but definitely not indestructable.

• Jedah used to be considered top by most people because really thought that J. Mp ruled everything. Nowadays, he’s considered top for the correct reason - he’s fucking insane.

Oh yeah, Red Lotus, if you’re interested in picking up Guy, I wrote an FAQ on him (available on GameFAQs) when I still played this game frequently. I got told by Jeron Grayson (one of the better fighting game players in the US, and one of the top CFE players in the US) that it was a really good FAQ, so I don’t feel wary about reccomending it to anyone, heh. What’s to disagree with? Those are pretty much the accepted tiers. At least for the top guys. You don’t put an air-dashing darkstalkers character in to a game with SF guys. It’s just a bad idea.

If they’d put Zabel or Q-Bee into the game, everyone would’ve been totally fucked. Moreso than they are now.

^Yun doesn’t have SA III, and with Chun her SA II can still be a good punisher.

No, they don’t.

Yun doesn’t have Genei-Jin. Chun lost priority on her s.HP & b+HP, and c.MK only combos into SA2 if you cancel it early, unlike in 3S where you could cancel it late thus making it a great hit confirm move.

Guile was ranked too low in this thread, he should be higher.

Guile is the best meter builder in the game, further, because he’s sf2, he really doesn’t need the meter. He can shut down Ank and Jed b/c the risk of flash kicking random limbs is quite real.

All Guile’s meter building is just the perfect set up for a Round 2 Karin. Karin with full meter is almost inapproachable.

Plus, Kenji and Hydron should be given all due consideration. Hydron b/c he shuts down all SF2 characters completely and Kenji because his runaway game is like Ank after eating wheaties.
