Just want a room with a generic name like US east 001… go in and see a bunch of names of people there. find a match, fight, profit. Give those in the room the ability to spectate said matches if they want as well.
I want something like SkullGirls lobbies, where everyone in the lobby gets matched up (except for that 1 guy when it’s an odd number) and it’s not just 2 players that everyone else has to watch.
I want something like the GGPO client. You enter a room with ton of people with a chat box and being able to challange whoever is available or chose to speculate ongoing matches.
I really don’t. No other fighter has it, I already don’t like the DLC reminders on menus but at least that actually pertains to things in the game. I don’t care to be advertised to in a game I buy.
Poor choice of words.
If its a sub menu on the online menu, it’s whatever but I don’t need to see it just going to the general online mode. I don’t need to be advertised to.
Because while I care about events I can just go to srk if I need to know when they’re happening. I want that choice to make the separation between the game and the scene.
You’re like the small minority of people that this would cause a problem for. Expanding the scene to people who don’t read up on SRK or eventhubs is generally going to have a bigger push with a network like this. You’ll just have to deal with it.
It’s not a huge deal to me but I don’t know, I just don’t like it when I hear about it. I guess I expect it in free to play PC games but never in something I pay for and in addition to reminding me of the real world in a game just makes the whole package come off cheaper, bit more shameless.
I wouldn’t mind if the menu was like:
Arcade
Vs.
Challenges
Online
CFN
etc
or if CFN was in the online menu I just don’t want to see it unless I specifically go there.
I disagree. In fact, IMO the game should do it’s best to recognize and support the scene. Even beyond the CFN, the main menu interface itself should do its best to keep players informed about events within the community. Make it act more like a dashboard that gives you all the relevant details, such as what tournaments are taking place, which ones are near you, who won what, etc.
I guess I expected mine to be an unpopular opinion but I just wanted the game to be the game and nothing else.
Every SF, no every fighter has a cool vibe all its own a culmination of all the aesthetic details from booting the game to end of a match, it would all just feel cheapened by small tickers or notifications everywhere telling me to tune into a tournament or telling me who won the last one.
The narrator’s monologue about how awesome all the fighters are and whatnot would just contrast badly against “MADCATZ | PERSON WON SFV LAST NIGHT IN LA”. When I boot up SFV I want to be in their world, totally absorbed by SFV, if I choose to focus on the tournament scene let me do it on my own time.
Imagine how much the vibe of Super Smash Bros on N64 would be ruined by a system like this, it’s dark and gloomy menus lit up with “ISAI WON AT APEX” totally taking me out of the game’s atmosphere.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case with SFV. Even the main menu in the beta felt so much more like a dashboard with eSports aspirations. Right down to the news ticker.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t. Once you have the infustructure it’s extremely easy for the two platforms to communicate. No point in " joining the two communities" if they can’t communicate.
