Capcom announcing 2 new games at PAX in March

No, it was just published by them. Do you understand the difference?

Nah, Square did the localization and publishing of the first game in North America. They didn’t develop it.

I really hope Capcom actually does have people on SRK. If they do, then do you see these comments and all this trolling? This is what people think of you now… Your company is a joke on the level of Sonic Team and all the bad Sonic games of the past decade(they got slightly better though).

Capcom is the Japanese EA. The butt of jokes everywhere…

Viewtiful Joe X bionic commando.
Ono and hikami personally told me

CVS3 is very unlikely to happen since they don’t own the rights of the snk characters

DS4 is more likely but that still is far off.

I think Capcom is done with fighters honestly. There’s nothing they can work on that will give them the numbers SFiV has managed to get unless they decide to do a SFxT2, LOL fail.

Capcom is still making a better effort than Konami and Square-Enix, at least. Sure, most Capcom games are shit, but there have still been a few good games here and there. Meanwhile anything Square-Enix puts out that wasn’t developed by Eidos has been garbage, and Konami hasn’t released many games this gen. Konami games are still pretty damn good though, thankfully. Sega’s still in there, they just need to port over Yakuza 5 goddamnit.

SEGA=Konami > Capcom > Square-Enix(Eidos developed games is all I buy from SE now.) I don’t know what happened. I don’t understand how all these major Eastern game developers have fallen so far from grace since the PS2 days. Not just in quality of content, but quantity as well.

I need to dig up that Inafune interview, but he said that this was a long time coming. I guess whoever the suits in charge are, they have no clue how to make games marketable or profitable beyond copying the West, and that has been nothing but headaches.

Squeenix has been lol-tastic ever since the merger(The World Ends With You is the last thing they did right that wasn’t an FF re-release), Konami just prays that their god Kojima bails them out every couple of years, and Capcom is squeaking by thanks to Itsuno’s and Kobayashi’s teams still knowing how to make games. However, after DmC, I think a lot of other folks have finally awakened to their bs.

What happened to you, Japan? I don’t just want western style games… I’d like a good mix of both good western and classic eastern style development philosophies.

I think it’s less an issue of East and West and more an issue of big companies with big heads. Capcom and SE have been fuckin up (Tho SE is doing a great job in the Producing department, as Sonicabid said their Eidos stuff rocks, and Sleeping dogs was great to (that was United Front wasn’t it?). EA and Activision have been fuckin up to, Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 and Deadpsace 3 nonsense from EA, Activision just pumping shit out until it’s fuckin dead (That used to be Capcoms MO) I think the big companies have reached this place where they don’t really know what to do going forward, while trying to squeeze every possible penny they can from the user, Making up excuses for why their products are sub par. Crysis 3 having a 5 hour campaign that putters out after 3 hours because Cryteck thinks Singe Player games have gotta go.

Witht hat said a lot of Devs on east and west are still releasing great stuff. Eidos is on a roll, Irrational Games look to have an amazing product coming out this month, Platinum Games have been killin it, Level 5 just released a great RPG, Monolift Soft had XenoChronicles, Mistwalker had The Last of Us, yada yada.

There’s still a lot of great shit coming out, just most of it isn;t coming from names you’ve been following since you where 5 and got that NES for Xmas with Megaman II or whatever. I still play lots of great games from all over the world, I just look elsewhere for them the majority of the time.

Actually I’m gonna disagree with you on the Dead Space 3 part @crotchpuncha. That was a good game and I didn’t really see much wrong with it. One of the few games I’ve seen where the game itself recognizes you’re playing co-op, and it doesn’t just feel tacked on to rake in a few dollars. It actually makes the game somewhat better and executes the idea incredibly well.
Looking at you Peter Molyneux. Fucking rat bastard.

It actually even covers two genres as a result. You want your familiar survival horror? Play that shit on classic mode. Hard difficulty by default, no custom weapons allowed, co-op disabled also by default. You want a fun shooter with you and one of your bros? Hit up some co-op and have a grand old time rippin people in half with line cutters that alt fire rocket launchers.

Mass Effect 3 though, only gets ragged on for the ending. Sure the series gradually ditched it’s very cozy home in the RPG style of Mass Effect 1, but transferring your playthroughs keeps the games fairly enjoyable as long as you actually got to know your crew and shit. IMO compared to some of the PR disasters with games we’ve seen over the last few years, I don’t count the whole ending fiasco to be among the worst offenders. But it was by no means acceptable, unless the “Indoctrination Theory” turns out to be true.

Not gonna touch on Dragon Age 2 because I’ve never played it. From what I’ve heard from friends though, it’s so garbage that Hsien-Ko takes pity upon it.

I was mostly reffering to the Micro-Transaction business with Dead Space 3, I honestly haven’t played it as Dead Space 1 stresses me out too much to finish heh. I have no opinion on it’s quality as an actual game, I’ve actually heard really good things.

On the subject of ME3 I actually like all 3 ME games for varies reasons, ME1 being a great RPG, ME2 really upping the character interaction between you and your crew, ME3 getting a lot of the gunplay right and providing you with a wealth of weapons to arm yourself with among other things, but there are a lot of issues with ME3 when it comes to it’s narrative problems outside of just the ending. A lot of narrative moments where shuffled around due to time contraints, content cut and re-issued as DLC, the writers not seeming to know WTF they want to do, ME3s head writer saying they aren’t going to tell us where the Reapers come from, it’s better that way, then releasing DLC that tells us where the Reapers come from. No boss at the end of the game cuz it’s too game-y whatever the fuck that’s supposed to mean. Promising an ending where the choices we’ve made matter, only for none of our choices to actually matter much at all.

I’m gonna add SimCity to the recent list of EA fuck ups to.

Dragon Age 2 is Mass Effect 2 but without any of the good stuff from ME2. Strip away the RPG elements, provide bland boring locals that begin to bleed together and hum drum story.

They actually did the micro transactions the same way as ME3’s multiplayer. Sure you can spend actual money on it if you want. But you can also get those things for free if you invest enough time into the game. They also don’t make the game better per se, but they do give you a little helping hand.
In Dead Space 3 they have scavenger bots. You put em in various areas and they bring you crafting resources after a time period. They also bring you these things called ration seals. They trickle in slowly over time but you eventually get enough for a free microtransaction. The most expensive costing 80 seals. Don’t remember what it costs in real money. But all it does is give you 2 supercharged weapon parts with a chance for a 3rd, and some more crafting resources.

Yea I know ME3 has the Micro Transactions, and personally I don’t support it. I feel they designed the rewards in multi-player to incentivise you to take advantage of the Micro Transaction system because unlocking stuff is a slog. To afford the boxes that give you the best possible chance to get good gear or characters, you need to play through matches multiple times to earn the scratch, and then what you get from the purchases is completely random. This makes getting guns, or gear, or characters that don’t blow a complete fucking chore, and made the early parts of Multi-Player not that much fun because I was being held back by my gear, something I had no control of in terms of progression. I’ve been playing Multi with a friend for two months on PS3 (I play ME primarily on Xbox) and boy I’d sure love to play as the Turian with the dash jets but no such luck because character unlocks are completely random. Took me 3 weeks of intermittent play to even unlock an alien, kept getting alternate humans.

Someone who is willing to partake in the Micro Transation system tho can spend 20 bucks and get 6 boxes with chances for rares in 5 minutes highly increasing the rate as which they earn content. The whole system is designed to make not buying content with real world money a pain in the ass, when it should just have gun, equipment, and character shops, and i can spend my credits on shit I want. Instead I get to be happy I got a sniper rifle randomly even tho I don’t use sniper rifles in any games i play because I don;t find them fun and I suck balls with them.

So the Micro Transaction shit does bother me, even in games like Dead Space 3 where it’s easy to circumvent because they are just going to start designing games in ways that incentivises you to spend money because earning it the legit way is a pain in the ass. That exactly how all those Facebook games an shit work, and EA would like nothing more then to rake in that sweet sweet Zynga money (Even tho that seems to be failing Zynga as well).

It’s a broken model, it doesn’t work, and we need to be vocal about it or else we are gonna end up with games that are no fun to play unless you continue to syphon money into them in order to get to the actual meat of the product.

I’m pretty sure Capcom has seen enough of mouth frothing angry nerds to know who the joke is

I see what you’re saying, but it doesn’t effect Dead Space in the same way. Though i wouldn’t run it past them to make it the only way to gather resources in Dead Space 4(Slight cliffhanger after credits. Not really a spoiler). In the actual game you find a fuck ton of those exact same resources every time you kill an enemy. Seriously I have more scrap metal and transducer than i know what to do with. I created a quadruple barrel shotgun just because I had so much extra, and it was hilarious. Where as in Mass Effect, your only progression is through micro transactions. If you got weapons or characters after every mission, then it would be on the same level as Dead Space. That whole system is why I don’t play the multiplayer. You literally unlock nothing no matter how long you play. Also, last I checked, Zynga was failing because they are stealing copyrighted games from lesser known websties and got caught on it twice.

Huh? You do get rewards in ME3 Multi-Player, they just come a lot slower then they do for people who pay.

And I know you can easily circumvent the transaction system in DS3, but I also think EA are fucking liers when they say it was intended to be that way. They fucked it up in DS3, if they had done it right it would be just like it is in ME3, and if they do go ahead with DS4 (That seems to be up in the air at the moment since apparently DS3 was a failure) I guarantee it will work the way EA intended it to, instead of how it works in DS3.

While I’m cool with them porting these…I hope these aren’t the 2 game announcements.

Ono went on record that his announcement was meant for the FGC, so I doubt it.

Finally some games from their older library I actually care about.

in that case where the fuck is cadillacs and dinosaurs?

it has k-groove

It’s gonna be HD ports of Street Fighter 1 and Warzard/Red Earth.
