In a completely new twist for Capcom, the ending will be wrapped up in DLC and the disc will simply be “Episode 1”. Also Megaman is a secret party member, but not the one you love.
Considering the chances that if they did a CvS3 that means they would likely rerelease CvS2 with actual online support, why not? Where’s the downside? That they butcher CvS3? So what? They’ll give you an actual way to play CvS2.
Don’t screw yourself out of shit just because you want to spite Capcom. There’s really very little downside to them releasing a new version of an old IP because that makes them 10 times more likely to rerelease the older, beloved versions of said IP thus making the new version no risk. If it sucks, you get a better way to play the old IP. If it’s good…are you really going to hate on a good game just because it’s made by Capcom?
Or are we just going to sit here and just hope that arcades start back up and decide to carry things like CvS2 cabinets again along with interest in said game.
Because Kof 98 Ultimate is such a great game.
Well it does have Krauser as a playable character and he is OP, I was fine with that.

Never did I say I wanted a new fighting game… I don’t even play the ones out this gen, sans VF5 and King13.
But if it’s just an announcement, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them was a fighter. Being that this is the 25th year of Megaman, I’d even jump to say one is going to be a fighter, and the other a Megaman game… Or an absolute debacle of an announcement would be a new Megaman fighter - though it could have potential, just not in Ono’s hands. I mean, we just got a new DMC and Resident Evil, I doubt they’d bring back Breath of Fire, and they already showed off their new PS4 game so for an “announcement”, it wouldn’t be that. What else do they have? Ducktales revival!!!

I’d be happy if it resulted in a re-release of CVS2…estatic if they managed not to fuck up a CVS3. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the Ultimate edition when it came out 9 months later.
As for a downside, may I direct you to FGD.

But a lot came out in 1987… Street Fighter, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, a number of movies… Yeah, 87 was a good year.
Capcom would fuck a potential CVS3 so hard. DLC characters, auto combos, DLC grooves. Exclusion of vital grooves. A cast unequal to CVS2. Super CVS3 which will include Hakkan, Dudley and Makoto. CVS3 AE which includes Megaman with infinites, Ibuki etc… Plus I’m inclined to believe it would play like shit, much like most of their newer fighters. Damage scaling would be fucked (more huge combos for little damage) Comeback mechanics. Cinematics during gameplay.
I know I’m only scratching the surface on the potential FUCKS Capcom would implement in to CVS3.
I don’t go to FGD unless I hate my own life.
But if CvS3 does happen it’s a guarantee they’ll rerelease CvS2. Capcom isn’t going to pass up free money and they KNOW they can get some decent bankroll from CvS2. Not to mention let’s look at past history. SF4 brought HDR (not the best example, but this is early Ono). MvC3 gave us MvC2 back (and eventually MvC1/MSH). The likely DS4 has given us VHunt/VSav back. You can even go as far saying SFxT got us 3SOE (again, not the best example, early Iron Galaxy).
CvS2 players should be begging for CvS3…because that means they can actually play CvS2 again outside their possible circle of friends.
