Hey long time no see but guys i think, starting next week im gonna try to get back into going regularly. Things have come up i really want to get back into it. So hope for me to sadly be back. but hey free wins on me lol. And you guys playing MK9 now?
Alright a couple things. First. Great time @ Lake Erie Summer Slam. It’s a shame that Cantonites always have to meet each other in combat, but I feel it’s a great way to showcase our playing ability to others so don’t feel too down. It’s not about winning and los… yeah it is. Jason! GOT YA! All kidding aside though, my PR approach with other gaming sects in OH is going quite smoothly. Talked to some players from Youngstown and guess what? We might be having that MK group (which need I remind you has Perfect Legend and Tom Brady amongst them) coming out every once and a while. Also, Clevelanders will be making the trip to join us on Thursdays from time to time to level up with us. Guys, my point is this. Any time we go to an event, we need to represent. People already are aware of our group, so when we see other players we need to show them we are serious about our group. Also, I will be in talks with some Cleveland peeps because they want to start running bi-monthly tourneys. I feel that if we run one on their off month, that we will be rolling knee deep in competition all the time. I need your help guys. Dill “I can’t make up my mind on which game to play” Pickle, all I ask is that you don’t annoy any new guests the Canton Fight Club may have. lol
I’m down with new people, but I hope they don’t expect any competition in mk or anything. I’d rather people come knowing who they’re going to be playing…and currently we’re just a bunch of mid-high tier ssf4 players, or smash pros, that dabble in other games. I’ll gladly play some sets in AE with whoever thinks they’re good, but I think we need some local exposure before going global yo.

And yea, I gave AE a fair shake for a few days, but officially fuck that game. I’m sad to say that the SF4 series is dead to me now. It’s all MK and LoL for me from here on out, and possibly some Skullgirls and 3SO. At least it took skill to do the broken shit in 3S…

I don’t really understand the hatred for AE. It is more unbalanced than Super, but still more balanced than SFII, still more balanced than ANY of the versus games, and at WORST on par with 3s. At the top of tiers, only Yun is for retards. You still have to know what you’re doing with Fei Long, and the only complaints I’ve seen with Yang are in reference to the “twins” being OP. My character got screwed in AE and he’s still viable. People wanted a more offense oriented game and Capcom gave it to them. Now, we have an offense oriented version of SFIV, and people complain. Jason, I know you’re not whining, and I can definitely take someone’s opinion into account that has played SF for a while, but the overall opinion of the interwebz is hilariously skewed. There is nothing wrong with MK or 3s (the latter of which I will also be playing), and anyone that plays either is still legit to me… but… let’s be honest. Anyone that sees MK9 can see who has ridiculous advantage over the rest of the cast.
In reference to Kyle’s post. While yes, it is true about MK9, after all Jason is the only one still playing it religiously in our group, I feel that we have a fantastic group and that the reason we are mid-high tier players and not better is because the only people we typically play are each other. My motives are to broaden our player base, and I feel everything else will fall into place. I’m not expecting people from other groups to come every week, but I know we as a group will make the most of it when they do. Oh, and when I talked to them, I did say that most of us stick with SF, regardless they were still excited about playing with us.
Good shit to Canton B for wrecking our Twin Team at summer slam… figured I’d have fun and play Yang, too bad I have no experience against 80% of the cast with him… Always fighting the online Yun army. I want to make it out on a Thursday, but you guys are going to have to move your bedtime back so I can at least get a couple hours of playtime in :). At this point I’ve given up MVC3, but I’m still going to be playing AE and MK… and of course Loli Fighter 3.
My big problem is that by being more offense oriented, they not only killed Dhalsim (my favorite character to play in the entire series), but they also rendered zoning playstyles obsolete. It’s all rushdown, with 3-4 chars at the top of the tier list, and the rest at C-tier at best.
As far as MK9 goes, the game is actually incredibly balanced right now with all of the patches and balance changes it has received. It seems it will stay this way too, b/c NRS, unlike Capcom who has gone on record saying they wanted AE to basically be unbalanced, pays attention to the community and changes things that need to be changed.
Anyways, yea, as you can tell I’m a bit salty about AE. But its only b/c I love the SF4 series, and hate that I’ve basically been given the shaft here. It’s all good though, I love MK and LoL, and as I said, will continue to play both :).
