lol christ, this thread has to be indicative of where cammy sits in the tier list. Everyone is having problems beating a different character. There doesn’t seem to be a “I win this one for free” that everyone can agree on. Looks like she might be in the negatives again on the matchup chart. =(.
This thread is indicative of player skill, not Cammy’s ranking. Just reading some of these posts, I can see that 90% of the players here are Cammy n00bs who recently picked her up. (Blanka and Zangief are hard fights, LOL, those are two of her three easiest matches, although Blanka actually takes some work now.)
Cammy wins NO match for free (she used to destroy T.Hawk, not any more), every fight is a struggle (although Zangief, Blanka, and Dhalsim present much less of a problem than other characters). All you Cammy neophytes will learn that the hard way, assuming you’ll stick around long enough.

Low Forward is the better poke by a mile. Standing Forward is best to stuff Fireballs (at certain ranges, Ryu and Ken’s Fireballs don’t come out and they just get hit) and also to punish whiffed Ken Jab DPs. But for the most part, Low Forward is her main poke. It comes out HELLA fast. It’s still not even REMOTELY as good as Chun Li’s, but it’s still her best general poke by a mile.

Cammy vs. Honda. She can low strong to beat hundred hands. She can jump straight up strong to beat it (her jump straight up strong is crazily high priority, the hands are very low priority now). She can Cannon Drill repeatedly to do block damage. If she happens to get hit by hands somewhere in there, she’s not nearly as bad off as before because hands do less damage. It’s even somewhat reasonable to try crossup short on Honda if you knock him down. It’s less bad than ST considering her ability to pressure is up, Honda’s hands are worse, and his ochio throw isn’t repeatable and does only half the dizzy.
I don’t know if this will help, but I thought people would like to hear what Sirlin has to say on this matter.

Someone said this before me, but its really not. I’m not having trouble with any character right now, and I feel my worst matchup is a 6/4. And yes, I’m playing very very high level players. And yes, I have it on video.

i love linking her regular attacks, especially after cross up, because if u mess up shes totally safe like
cross up light kick, crouching mp, crouching mk, crouching mk (thumbs up)

Yeah, in fact now that T.Hawk has been dipped in the river Pwnage, Zangief is probably her single easiest match. (Not sure about Dhalsim yet, no one good is playing him.)

Thanks for that tip man. I always tried and failed to use s.forward to stuff the jab dp on start up (like you can fireballs…I use to think you could stuff wake up DP with it, but I think those cases where it worked was just the opponent mis-timing the DP), never thought about trying to do it a second later to knock him out of the air. I use to wind up stuck with just low.forwarding it if Ken went on a jab dp spam-a-thon. :woot:
Also, not to mention a blocked low.forward is an ok set up for hooligan throw mind games at the right range (IMO of course). I use to have to start every hooligan with it at one point in O.G. ST…just to keep from accidentally jumping up-towards.
Oh yeah…classic link (asked a couple posts back): cross up short, s.close strong, l.forward XX cannon drill. If blocked, I’ll sometimes go for hooligan after l.forward or a follow up l.forward/s.forward to try and shove the opponent back. Hope that is useful.
Never mind, I found some of the vids of your Cammy matches.
Or rather, I thought I did; except for Sabre (who was clearly enjoying himself, and not turtling enough until he went to Dee Jay), your opponents in the matches that I’m seeing aren’t “very very high level” (though LeRaldo had the right idea vs. Cammy, with his turtle Akuma and turtle Boxer).
Or perhaps they are still acclimating themselves to the new tweaks.
LeRaldo and TooTall fell for standing punch->hooligan repeatedly. That’s always golden vs. people who don’t know how to fight her.
You do play a great Cammy, though. Kudos, man.
any moves that lead to good lk cross ups??? Hooligan that hits them when they are on the ground (in other words not jumping) you only need to walk up a little bit to cross up. Any other situations where you are in a good position to execute a cross up?
Pretty much everything that leads to a Knock Down sets her up for Cross Ups, because Cammy is one fast little girl.
Just about the only thing that doesn’t set you up IS the higher Hooligan Grab (the other grab occurs when you are level with the enemy, not just when they are in the air). But even on the slower grab, you can do good Meaty low Strongs.

i’m starting to notice that now that i’m playing a little more ballsy and going for them more often… i mean why not, they are pretty easy to space… i did have trouble with some characters but I’ll figure it out. You just can’t go buck wild with it against some players who will do a wakeup attack EVERY SINGLE TIME, but there’s ways of dealing with that (punish).
As for that chains that are usable… anything?? I mean look I was using cr.mk to cannon drill a lot at first but it was frustrating having the cannon drill blocked, and then eating damage after wards… just starting to like her cr.mp cr.mk string because then they are still up and I can either do a jump-in, hooligan, light (blocked) cannon drill to keep them up and keep the pressure on, not to mention just being able to walk up and toss em.
Anyway I think i played enough… for now lol I was doing ok with her in friendly matches, not to mention ranked.
I saw how Damdai handles Hondas with Cammy. Get a lead, then a lot of jumping strong to keep Honda headbutts from happening. The matchup may not be as “for free” as I imagined, but It’s still one of the worst matchups in the game.
Don’t forget jump straight up short when on defense. That thing still acts like a nice little wall. :wgrin:

i actually just kinda figured that out tonight… jumping strong is good vs him. Actually jumping strong is good in general, I didn’t know she could air toss with that button either, I thought it was just with fierce.
Yes, but at least now I’m convinced Cammy has at least a 25% chance of winning the matchup.
I would still want Cammy to get a specific anti-Honda tool in a patch (Spin Knuckle thru headbutts), but it isn’t 100% necessary.
I know in one version, jump in fierce, cl.strong, cl.fierce, cannon drill was a near-ToD.

Honestly, I abuse the shit out of jumping strong. Unless I’m crossing up, it’s usually j. mp into some kinda block string or combo.
