Thanks Rufus.
If only her blue hitbox was reduced on her st.HP some more it would be an even better tool against Honda. :arazz:
Didn’t know st. fierce stuffs Honda’s slaps and headbutts. Back to the lab!
St.mp is hard to use. I love st.cls_mp when I actually want to use it, but hate it when I’d like a st.mp but get a st.cls_mp instead… seems like there’s a ten pixel window separating st.mp (whiff), st.mp (hit!) and st.cls_mp (oops)
So can anything be done against a blocked/hit Blanka horizontal roll? No roundhouse cannon drill, no hooligan, can’t even walk up and normal? no mixups, blanka gets a free roll?
Blanka has enough to be punished anyway. No need to punish all… just be happy you’re safe. Seriously, I find that whether I’m using Cammy or Blanka (Them and Hawk are who I main), Cammy’s c.mp and s.mk are a bitch to get in on.
I thought a reveral roundhouse Drill would get blanka on recovery. My problem is the reveral timing on it is pretty tough and I don’t get it near often enough which leads to a blocked drill to a punish ball…
Which would lead to another chance at trying the reversal drill! I would probably keep trying it until I got the timing down, even if that meant my loss. But yeah, I can’t get the timing anywhere near close and trying it on a computerized opponent isn’t the most accurate.
Anyways, I have real trouble with this matchup. His dancing and hops, jumping in and out, I can’t lay a hand on him. Cannon drill attempt means you may whiff which equals free ball to the face, or you were too close and he punishes you. Your chances of winning rise dramatically if you manage to corner him since he can’t really threaten you with a ball anymore (it is punishable at this point), but if he’s good at reversals, it will still be tough to do anything.
Maybe I just approach this matchup differently. The only blanka who gives me problems is Antonio (BlueTallCans) and that’s because he knows he can tick bite me to forever because my reveral ability is crap. He even said as much last time we played.
“GG, you gotta get those reversals out!” That’s the story of all of our matchups. I either prevent him from biting me, with good spacing and I pick him apart or he gets all up in my face, starts crossing me up, dashing through me and bad things happen.
Blanka is tough. You can’t cross him up very easily, but I think he also has a hard time dealing with cammy’s pressure. Especially like you said, once Blanka is in the corner. Cammy + Corner Pressure = Goal. I find j. mp to be invaluable as well as st. mk. ST. mk is nice because it has good range, can stuff ball, and is fairly quick, as Thelo would say “It can be done on reaction”
Alright, you gotta give me tips on how to fight Blanka from a distance since that’s where I seem to have the most trouble. Now tick bites I can deal with since my reversal ability is somewhat decent. The Blankas I play get cute with their acrobatics and it drives me up the wall.
J. mp can get easily stuffed with many of Blanka’s neutral j. attacks like lp or hp…both with very high priority. Neutral jumps also effectively take out Cammy’s ability to pressure with drills. Since his jump is so fast, he will be able to land a neutral j. lk/mk into a combo and most likely a dizzy. Game over there.
The only thing I can think of to approach him is to walk forward while throwing out cr. lps. lp would be decent but falls victim to the slide. cr. lp counters both rolls and slides (i believe, have not tested it out but i know cr. lp has good priority). With this, I could hopefully corner him for a more winnable situation.
I like st. mk a lot too, but I think Blanka can safely just duck it and won’t even get hit. This means that it’ll also fall victim to the slide. But it would be a good way to force him to play according to your rules.
St. mk can actually stuff honda headbutts too, I learned the other day. I find it to be better than st. hp since st. hp has two different hitboxes, with the elbow part of the hitbox having crappy priority, so you trade with the headbutt. But anyways, that’s a different story for another day.
What I do against Blanka is first neutral jump with lk as a safe opener. Try to wait for the first horizontal roll and punish it with j. mp. Another idea is to throw cr. mp after you cr. lk > drill, as you will smack his roll if he attempts one. Sweep his electricity. That’s all I can offer, this is easily my worst matchup by far. I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY hate facing Blanka.
Maybe what I’ll do is I’ll get on XBL and have someone record like 10 matches with me and Antonio. If I asked him real nice I’m sure he’d do it since I could use the practice.
I’m beginning to re-think the Dhalsim match. Maybe I played it wrong but I faced Cvital last night and it was bad. When I got in I would do insane damage, but getting in was a HUGE pain. I’m starting to think its 5-5, depending on how good the Dhalsim is at holding ground and strictly reacting to Cammy. A simple st. jab from 'Sim can stop the Hooligan, and upper-level players never get faked out by the knuckle. On the other hand though I GREATLY improved my neutral jumping over fireballs lol.
Dhalsim can be really troublesome if you’re not in his face. If he’s throwing fireballs at you, you have to neutral jump mp or block. Spinning backfist will indeed get you killed and so will a lp hooligan to jump over it. If you can guess a fireball, then you can jump forward but chances are you’re probably too far to jump in and score a hit. You can’t freely j. mp towards him anymore cause his cr. mp or lp hits you upon landing…definitely very tough to get in.
But it doesnt hit low.
If the Opponent is standing and blocking, the CS will not trip them.
I think it’s important to remember that certain characters appeal to certain types of players (keeping in mind that the current crop of Super Turbo players is rife with people who just turtle regardless of which character they’re using). In the case of a truly unique, in-a-class-by-himself character like Dhalsim, this goes double.
Dhalsim is a slow character with a mostly reactive fighting arsenal. People who use him usually aren’t looking for an in-your-face match. They want to kick back and control the fight from afar.
A corollary of this is that they crumple like rice paper under pressure.
Vs. Dhalsim, do not ever give him room to breathe. Waiting for him to mess up, or consistently making guesses about what he’s going to do from the other side of the screen, is playing right into his hands. I’ve found that keeping the pressure on is what works best; he has some very good close-range tactics, but his overall style of play is not well suited to handle a rush-down offense.
Let him know early on that you are not afraid to use all of her moves. If he hits you out of a drill or a hooligan a time or two, so what. The point to get across is that they are options, and that they could come at any time, and that he will have to proactively cover all the bases instead of just reacting to you. When using Cammy vs. anyone, your primary objective should be to induce uncertainty in your opponent, since without that, Cammy is toast.
And if he ever jumps back, for the love of Sarah Palin, :hk: drill. Cammy cornering Dhalsim is just game over.
This is SO true! You have to be willing to use the whole aresenal to make Cammy effective. Her character design is predicated on getting in your opponents face and inside his or her head. Good stuff Milo, good stuff.
I agree that if Cammy is applying pressure it can be almost too much for Sim to handle. If I can zone and keep my opponent away I feel okay but between constanst cannon drills which if done properly are safe on block, the mind games after that move are viscous. It seems that I get caught in a crouching block stance and then get caught by the hooligan throw. I see it coming but for whatever reason can not get up and hit back jab to stop the move. Utter bs. I also hate how Cammy can whiff the thrust kick and grab me as she is coming down. Again utter bs. I try to limit my fireballs but throw enough to keep her honest and throw out pokes to prevent her from coming in. Unfortunately between neutral jumps and specials that cancel out many of Sim’s pokes she gains ground pretty quickly on Sim. I hate this match up even more than Chun Li.
I need to play Cammy’s more so I can understand the matchup. I have made a request to SLEZ v1 to record some matches over on PSN. Silver would you be willing to do a session on Live? Let me know if your Cammy needs a tan. lol
I dont’ play enough good Sims to know the matchup as well as I should, but shoot, if you had the time, I’d go 20 / 30 games with you SP. You’ll re-write the tier chart by the end of it, but hopefully I’ll know the matchup by then. It’s actually interesting, you SP are the Dhalsim I have the most trouble with. I can go with Damdai’s Sim, I can go with SweetJV, but you have really given me trouble… I’ve never figured out what you do that gives me such a hard time… like I said, I just don’t know Sim well enough to tell the differences. So in short, SP, anytime, lets roll baby.
This has helped me a bit, thanks for the tip
