Cannon Spike! The Cammy Thread

After you’ve knocked Deejay down it gets easier. As he gets up I like to throw a meaty low short then link a stand strong. If it hits, cancel into cannon drill for knockdown and repeat. If he reversal upkicks, they will whiff and close stand strong will hit allowing you to walk under for crossup/fake crossup mindgames (at which point you can again low short, stand strong, whatever). If he blocks, then go for whatever normal pressure strings you would for Cammy, or use the low short as a tick.

gg jchensor, btw, can cammy punish fei’s super in any way when done from mid screen. It seems like if you space his specials they can’t be punished. I tried punishing it with cammy’s own super and also hk cannon drill but it didn’t happen. Also it was funny after blocking the rekka attacks, i would try to do qcf+K and it wouldn’t come out or something, weird huh! Other stuff against him I know, and I was trying some different stuff tonight as well. Anyway ggs!

Awesome games, Syxx! Same to you, Faux! I got my share of fighting against Cammy today. Hahahaha. Sadly, it’s probably very apparent I never fight Cammys 'cause I don’t know how to stop the Hooligan Roll to save my life. And I also discovered that Fei Long has a really tough time against Cammy! That was a huge surprise to me, but I didn’t know his Short Chicken Wing misses so much against her when she crouches!

Were you having trouble doing Cannon Drills? I can totally see that, because I was having trouble doing my moves as well (particularly with Ken). I was honestly experiencing a lot of network hiccups, stuff I never seem to experience on XBox Live. I was getting a lot of speed fluctuations, when I was playing against Faux as well. It seemed to slow down and speed up randomly out of nowhere.

As for punishing Fei Long in the middle of the screen, no. Fei Long’s Super is completely safe IF the last hit connects. And now that it goes farther, that happens more often than not. And, for Cammy, I don’t think she can punish Fei Long even if the second to the last hit is the only one that connects.

Good games, though! That was awesome. Hopefully the patch will fix all the weird diconnections and speed issues we were experiencing!

No, i was just having trouble doing it after the rekkas, I think it has to do with the natural slowdown of the game however, so maybe i’ll work harder to get the timing down for next time, or resort to doing the command several times (i do this for akuma’s crossup fireball combo for the hurricane kicks)

GGs jchensor. Yeah on PSN, whenever I do hooligan (which is quite often) the game slows down quite a bit + last night’s lag and disconnects I think made it worse. I also experience slow downs during hooligans on XBL but its nothing like what we saw last night. XBL netcode is TOTALLY different from PSN netcode and at least 2x better. I play mostly PSN because I know more SRKers on PSN than on XBL.

Jab hooligan slide recovery is HORRIBLE when blocked. I ate 2 or 3 supers last night from it. They need to make it recover faster because it COULD be a nice anti-fireball tactic. Oh well.

PS: LOL at my attempts to use j.lk cross on Giefs last night. It works when Giefs are not expecting it. I think I got 1 dizzy and a couple of combos off. Problem is it only works 1 or 2 times because afterwards Gief’s will simply reversal or just use normal grabs to beat it. This is part of my complain about Cammy. I have to come up with all sorts of risk taking actions and it would only work a couple of times then I have to shelf 1/2 of my strategies because people now can easily counter them.

I got a double perfect against a good Honda last night!! I feel like the fucking MAN right now!!!:lovin:

Also, Fei Can shit on Cammy in my opinion. He can keep you out all day with s.lk. It beast everything you have except super and point-blank spike it seems. He can use that to make you play recklessly and then you eas c.hp’s and die.

'grats on the beasting of pudge (honda).

The other night, what move where you putting me in block stun with prior to doing the holligan? Was it s.mp or s.fp?

I dunno, I use a bunch of shit:rofl:

I use c.mk, c.mp, s.mp, s.fp. sometimes even close mk for the lulz.

Right spacing with c.mk or c.mp can beat the s.lk spam from Fei. Just don’t drill when you see Fei spam that shit, just walk forward and poke him a few times and he will stop that shit right away.

after about 4 hours of PSN Cammy today(had to make up for the last days where i haven’T played) with the freakin ps3 pad(thank god it’s not 360) I noticed that a turtling Dee Jay can be a pain, but not as bad as Honda/Guile.

Dee Jays upkicks aren’t that fearsome if you know he’s just waiting to release the upkicks a close j.mp actually beats the upkicks, might have been bad timeing on the other side, but yea it did work for me.

I think an upkick timed very late will still beat it. I’m not 100% sure, as I don’t play against too many good Cammies, but I do primarily play Dee Jay, and there are very few attacks that I have any trouble beating with a late upkick.

Word? Well… I just know that FameDouglas tries to spam that at the start of a round and I just gotta pop his ass with a balls-to-the-wall hk spike. But yea, it just fucked me all up the first time I saw it.

Yes, upkicks can and will beat j.mp, I’ve tried a million times:sweat:

Thought so, but like I said, I never play against good Cammies when I’m playing Dee Jay, so I didn’t want to give any definite advice on the subject, since maybe the ones I fight just were lousy at it or something. Also, whenever I’m playing Cammy, I keep my ass on the ground if Dee Jay has a down-charge (and usually even if he doesn’t), so I didn’t know from that perspective if it worked either.

ah bummer, yet another tricky matchup for Cammy. Ah well she is the ultimate risk taker afterall, am not particulary mad when i lose, it’s just that i want to break tough matchups, but since her save moves and priority is sorta limited…risk taking is all that euqals her disadvantages.

Well staying in the ground usually is a good thing in sf, but yea even without charge loaded deejays s.mp is a good anti air aswell, so it’s really hard to jump in on him.

Good to know it wasn’t just me. The sad thing is, when we were playing, the three of us are ALL located in West L.A. area! How could the lag be that bad?

I’m actually starting to truly believe it’s my fault. My internet connection must be crap. I need to see if I can figure a way to remedy that situation.

Hit kick in the air. That cancels it and you land without the slide.

Also, I noticed that you would try to hooligan a lot and the enemy would jump back in the corner. When you hit Kick in the air and whiff the Throw and land, just try to Cannon Spike. You blocked the attack like 75% of the time. If you blocked, you could have Cannon Spiked, too. Of course, that’ll make your Cammy destroy me even more giving you these tips, but hey. That’s how we roll with ST.

I swear you grabbed me out of my Lariat so many times with the Hooligan. I had my fingers on Fierce and Roundhouse the whole fight, waiting for the Hooligan. And I’d see it, hit the buttons, and I’d be thrown. And with Ken and Fei Long, I’d see the Hooligan and I could react with saying, “Aw, fuck!” to myself before you threw me, but I could never seem to react by hitting a button.

JChen: Are you only on PSN?

We played didn’t we? I remember it was a GG but fuck if I can actually remeber who won

ah yes i think we played, gg, but i totally forgot which character you picked. Damn 4 hours of gaming sure beats you to remember anything

I picked cammy…she is really the only char I play with. But yeah, my memory i fried from today
