Cannon Spike! The Cammy Thread

Is j.lk the only thing you can crossup with cammy? For some reason i have trouble hitting it. I know thats n00bish but i really suck at hitting that crossup. Regardless, whats a few good combos to do on crossup? Thanks for the help.

all characters crossup light kick, close standing fierce, cannon drill works

on most characters, crossup light kick, crouching medium punch, crouching medium kick, cannon drill… youll have to work out which version of cannon drill in this one as different ones will work on different characters in this combo

Dpad game needs to be upraded lol… I noticed from watching our match though that I’m not using enough hooligan throws and I seem reluctant sometimes to move in… I gotta work on that.

edit: To answer the question regarding who I practiced on… I practiced on Deejay, Gief, Sagat, Guile, Honda, and Ken… I know for the most part that my big combos seem to hit more against bigger players since the hitbox is larger I guess…

And, truth be told, she can crossup with jumping strong and jumping fierce, but (and I’m still testing this for the FAQ I’m writing), she might not be able to land them deep enough on a standing opponent to follow them up. Might work on crouching opponents…but I have to test that, too.

That being said, jumping short is definitely her easiest crossup. You can actually hit with it so deep that you have tons of time to add on your next attack. Use the tip of her back foot as an aiming point and you should be able to get it…or just pause the matches that Syxx573 posted when one hits and you’ll see it.

Was practicing once again in training mode (this time against a blanka) and I pulled off a 6 hit combo that does some pretty serious damage.

Edit: Just did some other combos that take off a chunk off your health meter (almost half) *note: These can be done in the corner or out of the corner, I’ve tested both.

Your Cammy looks scarily similar to mine, now, Syxx. Except much more patient. I’m far more spastic. lol! There are some funny resemblances. #1: The Super is almost always for chip death damage. I swear 90% of my usage of the Super is to finish people off. I dunno what it is with Cammy, but she always seems to drain peopel to two slivers left of their life after a Knock Down. Haha. #2: And this isn’t a knock against you, because I do this too, but your block a lot of Jumps even though you have a DP. My friend makes fun of me ALL the time because I never DP his jumps. But you just gotta focus on the ground game when you’re Cammy!! :slight_smile: Hard to think about Jump Ins.

Love the cross-ups, btw. GOOD shit. That’s not easy to do, particularly against Shotos.

My only critique is that I think, which you do a good job of mixing things up when they get up, you need to mix things up even a bit more. So I noticed whenever you wanted to do a Tick Throw, you always did Stand Jab into Throw. Or when you went for Hooligan, you always did Fierce into Hooligan. You need to try a few Meaty Low Strongs into Low Forward into Hooligans, Meaty Low Strongs into Hooligans, Meaty Stand Strongs into Throws, Meaty Stand Strong, Stand Strong, into Throw, Meaty Low Strong, whiff Stand Short into Throw (one of my favs… the Throw happens so fast and you don’t even have to walk at all), Meaty Stand Strong, Stand Strong into Hooligan, etc.

That’s hard to learn, but it’s good to do, to stay really unpredictable. But otherwise, good shit. Good looking stuff there.

I posted a description for how this combo is input earlier in this thread. Search for “Spin Dive Smasher” and look for my name and you should find it. It’s my scrubby way of both hit-confirming and more easily cancelling into this super (or any super with the same motion…hello Shinkuu Hadouken and Tiger Genocide!)

Ok…you just made me want to search for her most powerful combo off of a jumping hard attack from the front. Must…find…it!

Nice vids, syxx. Very patient. I’ll have to study those matches against Ryu, he’s a hard matchup for me.

One thing I practice doing is cancelling hooligan out of everything. Anywhere I would normally do a cannon drill, I’ll practice hooligan as well. Example: I’ll get a knockdown and sometimes I do s.hp xx hooligan, sometimes I do s.hp, c.mk xx hooligan, sometimes I do c.mp xx hooligan, etc. You get the idea.

All my friends complain that they can never guess what I’m doing haha.

Oh yah, another thing I found that works hilariously well is that once you have trained your opp to block the c.mk xx drill string, you can replace the drill with a spin knuckle and they will almost never punish it. Free block dmg AND you can go into another c.mk xx whatever. It’s just another fun mixup to throw in once in a while.

yes!! jchensor I will definitely work on more mixups it was a long day yesterday and i had not played for about a week and a half but I got my mixups back and I will try the ones you recommended, anyway more vids, and I have more coming from today as well. Thanks for the advice!!! I appretiate it. There aren’t many of your matches on youtube but I have watched them before.

Thank you Jchensor for your advice regarding lp hooligan over fireballs. I love it now. I use it to hop over fireballs and it is a great mix up move. I can cancel or I can just let it slide and get chip damage or simply confuse the opponent. I am mixing in more hooligan as you and Milo have suggested. I have improved quite a bit since your advice. I need to work on baiting supers instead of eating them… I ate so many supers last night trying to sneaking a meaty attack against fellow SRKers =P

Just won the Chicago local using cammy (and cough akuma) but I played out GF with cammy all the wayyyyy!!! And they recorded it, should be online sooner or later. VS a really good freaking sagat too. Go cammy.

I really like Cammy’s jumping LP. You can totally stop Blanka balls with it, as well as other moves. That’s all I got.
