I was kind of under the impression it would stuff reversals. Maybe I’ll just use it against people who can’t reversal that well or something, but if that’s the case it doesn’t sound like something I would really need to win to begin with.
spin knuckle works well against anticipated sonic booms (in my short experience)… as do hooligans of course
not so much chun-li’s fireballs, but i haven’t played against her that much
you really need to be crafty to get damage with her… and also know when to punish… and don’t get baited into doing stuff, instead focus on baiting people to attack and then punish with super, drill or thrust kick, and punish unsafe attacks on block with cr.mk drill (or whatever you normally do). Also getting into patterns is bad but if you can suprise people with hooligan, then you are doing your job.
Was playing a match against Balrog earlier today, and am wondering if Rog is a bad matchup for Cammy. I’ve managed to shunt most of his specials with nothing more than c.mk and lk.cannondrill, occasionally catching him with Hooligan into Frankensteiner if they remained block-happy. What are Rog’s options when confronted with a zoning-happy cammy aside from a headbut to catch cammy in mid poke?
Spike beats headbutt, but only if the spike’s invulnerable frames outlast those of the lp.headbut. Otherwise it should be a clear-cut counter. The problem is two fold: 1) Timing is strict, 2)requiring you to read your opponents. If you’re catching honda left right and center with spikes, then your opponent either is predictable as hell, not adapting to you spiking him at predictable points of the match, or you’re that damn good.
I wont make assumptions on your skill, but I know my own leaves something to be desired. Since my timing isnt that great, I’ve been spamming s.lp to stop most honda headbuts. Seems to work solong as you are just outside his sweep distance. Any closer, I tend to be in trouble.
My expirence against honda is that he basicly does everything Cammy does, but better. He can generally out-zone you, and most of his specials beat Cammy’s out (CannonDrill < Headbutt for instance). About the only thing I’ve run into was beating out HHS with c.mp. This is still just a poke, but often times I get tricked into getting swept for my bad guess at HHS.
The hitbox for it is located just directly below her.
So you need to land just ontop of them.
You can combo into c.strong > c.forward into roundhouse drill i believe.
The strong > forward will always hit but i’ve only managed to get the drill to work on larger characters. That might just be my lack of practice with her though.
Is there a way to get her dark green leotard and purple gauntlets/leg camo in HDR? Best colors ever.
As good as her new motions and short drill are, I find myself still playing Nakamura-style against most opponents. I have a hard time with her mixups, they’re all very strict on distance and timing. Spin knuckle or hooligan slide on wakeup? Does that interrupt reversals or something? My ass gets dped like no tomorrow, neither move seems quick enough to trick a good opponent on wakeup.
Check out the hitboxes in training mode. Spin knuckle’s hit box is way in front of Cammy’s hittable area, so if someone reversal dp’s your spin knuckle you won’t get hit, if they screw up the reversal they will get hit, and if they block you have frame advantage.
Standing short for Honda Headbutt btw. You’re gonna have to spam the shit out of it and it has to be a lot more precise than spamming it to beat Blanka balls (Gief seems to have the same issue with spamming low.Jab vs. Honda…I’m not a big Gief player though). You have to keep your distance or you’ll eat something else, but it does help encourage Honda players to get out of charge.
i somehow managed to get 2nd at the chicago tourney using cammy the entire time
i could have won but i messed up on a wakeup dp/super at the end and ate a meaty cr.roundhouse from chun
damnit!!! >_<
btw i have question… is there any beating out chun li if she takes a step back at the begining and does her fireball? It seemed like everything I tried got beat, so I was just wondering.
I really need to wait out chunli a bit more but i know that when i do i’m gonna get tossed
If you know it’s coming, it’s easy to counter (which is true of most attacks in the game in most situations). Step forward hooligan, step forward backfist, or step forward j.RH.
If you’re asking what you can do a the start of the round that counters all of her openings, including that one (which is good to use vs. Cammy) – well, nothing. No character has a 100% safe opening attack.
well the problem is knew it was coming but it was beating every option i could think of, i probably should have stepped forward with her at the begining of the match
