Because of the plastic candy look, in contrast to american cabinets made of wood.
oh ok. thanks.
any updates?
…especially to us interested American buyers!!! :amazed:
I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but can someone repost the PDF which contains the Vewlix dimensions? I can’t seem to get page to load from the previous link. Thank you.

Hi all,
Here’s my finished cab:

- 2 player panel, LS-32 sticks, PS-14-KN buttons (lighting-up on activation)
- LCD 22’’ screen with easy rotation system (1 bezel for landscape, another for portrait)
- 4-port HUB accessible from outside the cab for hooking up external peripherals (pads, arcade sticks, dance mats, anything)
- Wifi-G network card for playing 2DFighter and/or GGPO, updating the system
Some stickers will be added when they are designed, printed, sliced
Besides playing Street Fighter third strike, I plan to use the cab for other things like StepMania, DTXmania, multiplayer games like TMNT, etc …
Lot of fun ahead I think
very very badass.
From the pics the monitor looks kind of small for the cab, but I have a 19" monitor in a Mortal Kombat cab, and it works just fine. Once you start playing it’s a non-issue.
I could swear I have seen a similar cab back on the old killercabs forums
Did you follow any kind of plan?
thx for the comment !
The monitor seems small due to the large bezels but as you say, when playing it’s not relevant anymore. Keep in mind that I need quite some space to rotate the screen around and also that should I later wish to change for a larger screen, well I can (I probably won’t, but still I didn’t want the monitor size to be carved in stone).
I wanted to share this with all of you that want to make the Vewlix Cab out of wood the model was done in sketchup and still needs alot of work. Here is a link to my thread on the www.arcadecontrols.com forum

That’s fan-freakin-tastic!
Do you mind linking it here? I tried to get it off the forum post that you linked, but I get this error:

as there any where i can get the cad for this
I would love the sketchup file for this!
Does anyone have one? I need to make one for my man cave.
Its neat to see how this thread has progressed into the bitchin clone era of cab making !!! donavans site is a very good start for cab builds !!! Im in the works on my vewlix clone . Thanks don!
Had to bump this thread. I’ve seen of couple of Vewlix clones and they’re pretty sweet looking. With that big LCD that’d be my first choice to play SSFIV or Blazblue or anything else hi-res, but with my love of classic games I want to build an Astro-City-inspired cab with a nice CRT first. Has anyone seen a decent Astro City or similar made out of wood? I’ve been searching around and I’ve only been able to find one that’s not so hot.
Only problem with CRT screens are they are becoming harder and harder to find quality working units. I was mad I lost my chance to get in excellent condition a 19" wells gardner CRT monitor. It accepts multiple inputs, CGA, EGA, VGA, SVGA, everything from 15 hz to 70 hz with multiple resolution support. Its discontinued now and it was for a real steal too. $175.
That’s why I’m trying to use a Sony Trinitron KV-27FS120 TV. It can’t go above 15kHz, so you have to interlace resolutions above about 280 vertical lines, but on the plus side you can connect anything to it. It’s the best possible picture you can get of retro systems when you use SCART > transcoder > component, and modern systems of course have component ready to go. For a pc you can use Soft15kHz and Powerstrip to get beautiful native resolutions on it with VGA out > transcoder > component.
Multi-sync monitors aren’t without their compromises either. An arcade monitor that can do SVGA will have a dot pitch that’s way too fine for classic games, and may lack fat healthy scan lines.
Just wanted to say that, several years after creating this thread and re-reading it, I found this post to be funny.
Dark Resurrection!!!
