i dont see why they’d be banned tbh
The debate was made back in BB:CS when they had 2 DLC characters. The issue was that not everyone wanted to buy or had money to buy the DLC characters, which created a gap of understanding how to fight the character giving an unnatural advantage to the person using the DLC characters. Now while you could fight them online without needing to purchase them in a game like BB:CS it’s useful to take them into training mode and learning counter strats like instant block timing on certain guard strings and what’s punishable, etc… Granted this could be said for any character in the game DLC or not but there was a big debate about it before and I’m just wondering if that would carry over to MVC3.
It doesn’t bother me if they aren’t banned in the end but it would probably be important to state that in the rules and announce it during the tourney if they are banned.
Also, I didn’t get an answer as to whether the Zero snapback glitch was banned. It’s very similar to Gambit’s glitch in MVC2 and Zero is a commonly played character so the chances of someone purposely doing this glitch for the win is quite possible.
I dunno, 4 days doesn’t leave much time to adapt to them.
The Zero glitch should probably be banned along with Doom freezing missiles glitch (only if it freezes, I don’t see a problem with multiple volleys). Can’t really see the latter being an issue, but you never know.

anything that prevents the match from progressing normally. ie. with two characters continually fighting either to a timeout win or KO should be banned
what about DHC hitstun/damage scaling reset trick? I’m not gonna lie right now 100% of my strategy revolves around cheesing people out with it
point taken, however if you cant afford 10 bucks or whatever it is to buy a character for the game, you probably shouldn’t be entering tournaments for that game in the first place
stuff like that embodies marvel. 100% combo cheesiness isn’t that bad, you might as well ban sentinel with 2 bars and the corner. 917k no xfactor or assist combo should be illegal
The Zero Snap Back glitch is Banned
The doom missile freeze I don’t really see being feasible in a match. No one is going to stand still long enough to let someone pull it off. I would say that it’s a DQ in the event of the game freezing.
Personally, I have no problems with the DLC Characters, it’s a little different from the BB:CS situation because the characters are being released universally - in the case of BB:CS 360 players had to wait months to get Valk which is why he was banned at the 2010 Canada Cup.
It’s not a game breaking glitch in that it stops the game from being played. It’s an exploit that is specific to team composition and infinites like Akuma Tatsu or Cap Ap’s SS infinite shouldn’t be banned either it’s like saying ROM and every other infinite should have been banned in the MVC2 days.

I say leave Jill and Shuma in. Just because they would only be recently released shouldn’t be an issue. Everyone has access to the characters. People will start using them competitively sooner or later so why not just start now.
People using them only have 4 days to learn them. Same amount of time for people to figure out how to fight them. It’s an even battle for both camps. The Jill/Shuma players have to learn the matchups with 36 familiar characters, while everyone else has to learn the matchups with 2 unfamiliar characters. Even trade both ways.

I think in Edmonton the only person I would consider a contender to be able to beat Justin Wong and Marn is David and James Jones.
I’ll be playing MVC3 but I think I’m in a total mess right now with constant re-evaluation of my team composition.
