Can someone help me get into the sf scene? Here is the problem

I have always wanted to get really good at street fighter ever since I saw evo 3 years back. I am a pretty rare kid, I just barely turned 16 and I love street fighter. Many kids pass street fighter off as “gay” or something like that compared to Halo or some other stupid crap.

But here is my problem. I live in UTAH. Yes, UTAH. (No I am not a Mormon). Utah has no good arcades at all, in fact I think I have only been to an actually good arcade once in my life having only lived in Vermont and Utah. I would love to see some local competition since I have never been in a non-online street fighter match before.

Also, another problem is that I only own a ps3 arcade stick. I think it’s safe to say most of the street fighter community plays on xbox 360. Is there any way to make a ps3 stick play on an xbox 360?

There are some converters for PS3 to Xbox 360 you can buy , 60 dollars.
I always wanted to be good at street fighter since I saw Daigo’s parry four years ago…i think.
I’m only 12 and I live in NorCal (thank god :smiley: ) and I’ve been trying to get into the sf scene.

See if there’s anything about Utah in the regional thread of Srk. Bring your ps3 stick, save your money for a 360 stick or converter.

Dual modding tends to be even more expensive, though.

I got a quote from some of the modders down in SoCal and they were saying PS3 to 360 would run me close to 80.

There are no convertors for ps3 to xbox 360.

You have to find people in your area that play, dont worry about an arcade.
Do some googling and some facebook searching. Maybe even create a facebook group for your area so people can find you.

Look for some lan centers near you, that’s a good place to meet gamers and maybe some play street fighter. If possible try to set up a street fighter night that the lan center can advertise to draw people in.

Also when you meet people online with green connections to you find out how close their are.

Yeah I’m another young SF player trying to get in the scene, 15, MidWest, it can be tough. Check the Regional Zones and hopefully you’ll find a community to hook up with. About your stick keep your PS3 one without a doubt. What I’ve heard is that at most larger tourneys, people play on PS3’s. If I can find a non laggy PS3-360 converter I’d take that if it’s the same price as an SE. But anywhere more you’d might as well buy another TE when they’re on discount.

Dual modding is your best bet if you’re willing to shell out 80 dollars. If you are good at bargaining you can probably get it done cheaper. Don’t expect anything less than 70 though because a lot of the cost has to do with the parts. The modders have to make the cost back plus be paid for their work.
