group. mind you i play 3s so i guess something is wrong with the way i think about it, but my #1 reason for not liking tekken is that the way the game moves/looks/feels when being controlled i my hands just doesn’t feel correctly. like i guess it doesn’t hit that sweet spot in my hand/eye/brain coordination, and that it just puts me off.
i don’t think it sucks, i just won’t play it either
Most people I know who don’t like Tekken hate the damage potential. I just accept it and move on, I won’t try to force them to play it.
VF players don’t like the juggle system.
SF players don’t like the lack of a range game.
Casual jackoffs don’t like it because it isn’t Halo/CoD4 (they liked it just fine back in the day).
But compared to most series, Tekken doesn’t get a lot of hate. Not like SF (“Super Turbo HD Remix FTW Edition lolololololroflcopter!1!!!11”), KoF (“animu pedo fags lol”), Mahvel (“too much shit on screen wahhhhhh!!!”), or even VF (“it’s too hard waaaaahhhhh!!!”).
I play Tekken casually when I’m bored and in need of a break from 2D goodness. It’s not a bad series… just not my thing relative to SF, KoF, Marvel, etc.
In general, I think it just suffers from the same problem everything else in the universe does: since they don’t have the threat of getting their ass beat, immature people on the internet have zero tact and simply hate things with an all-consuming passion that they otherwise would have no rooting interest in. People (especially insecure teenagers) don’t seem to grasp the concept that your subjective opinion of something has zero bearing on its objective quality to anyone other than you.
So lighten up, enjoy your game, and ignore the haters.

I don’t play Tekken cause everyone else hates it. It’s too much of a fucking hassle and I got tired years and years ago of people bitching about it. Soul Calibur looks like it’s going that way too.

Alot of people hate Tekken because they spend a little bit of time learning a few combos and moves, and end up losing pretty badly. Then get mad.
Oftentimes that’s all it is.

You hold fast onto the belief that because something has a counter means it’s easy to employ. Execution plays a part here aswell.

seriously, people have less respect for this series cuz he is one of the cheapest characters in fighting game history. and it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch or whatever that cliche is. alot of gamers that know of dude figure the whole game is like that and hate from the sidelines. sure alot of the reasons mentioned here are on point too but thats what i’ve seen, from a more casual perspective
and honestly, after getting whooped by my boy in T3 with Eddy and Gon, i never paid it no mind til 5 and even then i wasnt sold til DR on psp. was always a VF guy
how long are people gonna keep playing 2-d fighterz anyway? t6br gonna have insane graphics and hella easy to pick up and play. i win most of my matches and i mostly spam two moves with steve: b+1 and 412.
