What are you talking about? You have Don Mac and ShinBlanka to do roll, level 2 anytime you want to play!
Because N-Iori can actually do something about Blanka doing RC balls over and over (que SNK fanboy telling me to “watch the Fuck Blanka video!!” any minute now). That’s the same reason I like Yuri better than non-run Iori. She doesn’t have to sit there and block all day. She can guard crush just as well by doing blocked CC DP’s repeatedly too. Plus, she counters Sagat. The only bad thing about her is she does below average damage on literally everything.
Iori’s DP hits so slow, you can just counter DP him everytime he gets close to you to randomly activate etc… Yuri has a better s.HK too (no, low hitting, high hitting bs). I stand by my opinion, Yuri is a better C/A character. Iori —> low tier. Stylish (I use him myself) but low tier… :bluu:
If you are randomly activating with Iori, you are playing him wrong. He should be anti-air as first option, combo off of command grab as second option, activate and grab/roll as third option, with GC stuck in there somewhere depending on the situation. But even against P and K, his activations shouldn’t be RANDOM.
Yep, Rugal is probably my favorite and best character in CVS2. I’m actually surprised that no one uses him. He’s versatile, takes the 2nd best damage in the game, has 5 great AA moves (S.Hk, S.Mp, Genocide Cutter, LV.3 Gigantic Pressure, and to some extent Kaiser Wave), and the has a 2 supers with one of the highest damage points in the game (6800 & 5800)!!!
Not to mention his God Press does as much as some LV.1 supers, can cancel into his Genocide Heaven or CC, and can grab a Blanka out of his Blanka Ball in midair!!! He has 2 projectiles one being the Kaiser Wave is half the size of the screen(roughly the size of a Ryo proj. Super) and his Reppuken has one of the most miniscule recovery time for a proj. in game as good as Guiles IM:o.
Heck with this C-Groove combo you pretty much won the match: J.HK, S.FP, God Press, LV.2 Genocide Cutter, Dark Smash, LV.1 Genocide Cutter. It does 12000 damage, as much as some ratio 1 characters life bars!!!
In N-Goove you have J.HK, S.FP, Gigantic Pressure, LV.1 Genocide Heaven. 11000+ damage right there.
In K-Groove just do the N-Groove combo without Genocide Heaven and like I said before you pretty much won the match. A Raged Gigantic Pressure does a whopping 7480 damage!!!
In short, Rugal is a formidable character; in fact I’m glad few people pick him cuz I’d hate to fight a good opponents Rugal.
I don’t know what some of you are talking about. N Iori is probably the BEST option you have for fighting top tiers. Of course you have to practice, but its a definite. A Mai is also a very good character against top tiers.
GF2- Are you trying to imply that you would of done better against Ricky’s runaway Mai? From that statement you just posted, you might cause some drama against youself.
What Ricky Ortiz did with Mai flying off the wall wasnt a bait or anything. There was nothing to fall for. It was a runaway tactic, pure and simple.
Ricky had more life than the opponent’s A-Balrog(no meter). So what Ricky did was stayed back waiting for you to come over so that he can fly off the wall to the other side of the screen. Rinse and repeat. He did this until time ran out. If you really think about it, there wasnt much you can do trying to catch a runaway Mai especially when its Ricky’s Mai.
Only the first twenty seconds was some fighting action, and the remaining portion of the match was all runaway. Really, there was NOOO contact for a very big portion of the fight. Once in a while Ricky would throw out a c.HK, and then it was back to flying away trying to avoid any contact against Balrog. It was the most boring match I’ve even seen in a tournament.
Dude, runaway Mai is SO not unstoppable for Balrog, or any charge character. I don’t care whose Mai it is; that shit can get you killed. All you have to do with Rog to counter her is sit back and charge D/B, building up meter and moving in with rolls, and when she jumps off the wall and dives, press HK when you turn around so you can dash sweep her! It surprised me to see Ricky getting away with that so many consecutive times, just by knowing this. As far as I remember, I didn’t see anyone attempt to do this against him.
And yes, I know it’s just a runaway tactic, but to do it efficiently, you have to pursuade people to move in, correct? That’s exactly what Ricky was making that Balrog do. Had he known to charge, things could’ve been a little different and less boring. That’s all I’m trying to imply. It’s not my intention to start any drama, but I’ll retract that earlier statement anyway.
Balrog has no jumping normals that hit up and buffalo headbutt can’t reach off the screen IMO there was nothing he could do. GF there is a BIG difference between watching a match and actually being in it. Not flaming you BTW.
You didn’t read what I said. Allow me to quote myself.
When you charge back facing one direction, you don’t have to move the joystick to complete the motion when Mai flies over your head, because the instant you turn to face the other direction, you’re immediately switching to the forward position, thus completing the motion. All you need to do is hit HK to do the dash sweep from that point and hit her.
And you’re telling me that Balrog player couldn’t do just that?
Balrog can whiff d.MP (just like every other single character in the game) to build meter.
If Ricky’s playing Mai, you can bet he’s not playing for real then. She plays just like Vega, only not as good. And she can fly too. Oh wait, nevermind. In that case, she’s too good… I’d better just be cool (and a top tier srk.com forums player) by walking off the machine complaining how CvS2 sucks then.
Timing on the turnaround dashes difficult? Lol, that’s a good one. If you’ve been charging like you’re supposed to, then Mai shouldn’t be diving over you AT ALL. Being able to alternate the speed and angle of the dive means jack. None of them are safe. Hell, even the Fierce dive, which covers the most distance at the fastest speed, can be hit by a walk-up s.fierce! No matter which one she uses, you’re not ever going to lose your charge. There’s no excuse for it. And I’m sorry, but whoever misses her with any of Balrog’s dashes sucks. It shouldn’t even take more than a half-hour of practice to get it down right.
So once Mai sees that diving is a big no-no, she’ll have to swallow it up and start fighting you. Regardless, who the fuck’s going to let you build meter by mashing c.MP?
And you’re right about the 3K charge (it’s actually two). Not only would Ricky be able to see you’re holding the buttons, but it’s one of two specials Balrog has that wouldn’t work on a runaway Mai. EDIT- Aw, what am I saying? “Runaway” Mai practically doesn’t exist.
I haven’t seen this match but this seems like the logical thing to do huh? I mean I am sure it is different playing against it but I doubt Balrog has no options…at any rate…who plays with fuckin balrog, they deserved to lose. [i am not sayin he isn’t playable…im sayin i juss think he is shit]
Look, I was paying attention. So the ‘maybe’ I threw in doesn’t apply to Ricky’s Mai. That’s fine. Because I didn’t say anything about Ricky, just any Mai player in general. Point was, as unlikely as you might believe, it’s happened before and it CAN happen. I wouldn’t have made note of it otherwise, but now I digress.
If it happens once, then you can be sure they won’t do it again, right? This scenario isn’t so far off; everybody makes mistakes. I see people doing things they shouldn’t when someone has full meter.
