Stein is correct in his assessments of the differences.
PSN sucks! It lags even when you play buddies who lived in the same neighborhood…
XBL: Rush down, good connection, overall players attitude are good (“GGs” exchanged quite often)
PSN: Turtles, horrible connection, rage kick/quit, hate mail…
I prefer XBL 9-1 over PSN… The only reason I even bother to play on PSN is because of some of my buddies from SRK are PSN Only and sometimes I need practice against turtles using Cammy.
Yes , lag being the worst. Maybe psn only players don’t feel it but when you go from xbla to psn it feels floaty and sluggish.
Sony is going to announces a premium psn service at the e3 this year so hopeful they will make it lag less.
I don’t really know what is in the premium psn offer and how much it will cost. Don’t think they will stop letting people play for free online. We have to see next month.
Edit:
According to a report from VG247, one part of Sony’s E3 showing will focus on a paid version of its PlayStation Network. Premium class subscribers are said to get access to a free PSN game per month and a streaming music services, presumably among other services, for “less than £50 per year,” or under $70 USD.
I honestly think the problem with connections for PS3 is that some people just play on WiFi because it’s available where as Xbox requires an Ethernet cable connection out of the box. I mean, I have my PS3 on Wifi, but I have my Xbox plugged right in. I don’t think this PSN premium has been confirmed yet but it’s been a rumor for a while now. I can definitely see it happening.
i have both systems, and 1 cable (fiber: 30MB connection)… when i want to connect PS3 i unplug it from my xbox…
so, for me… i have tested the connection using the same line basically…
XBL >>>>>>> PSN
i have the same people on both XBL and PSN… and i did play with them on both consoles… XBL is billion light years better than laggy psn… awful input delays… links are really hard to time… and its almost comical… cause you will see me jumping hk/lk all over the place = thats me trying to cannon strike
I’m not really a beginner, but it’s probably best to ask this here so myself and actual beginners can get an answer: would I be able to pull off instant Cannon Strikes (aka TKCS) more consistently if I had a stick with a square gate?
You and your opponent must be wired to get the same exp. as xbl. since it cost $100 to get wi-fi on xbl almost no one has it so every opponent you play will be wired. since the connection is the same peer to peer as far as i understand that should be the only difference.
i would be very surprised if anything other than the matchmaking goes through either psn or xbl servers, that would be a very cumbersome way of setting up P2P connections because your data would have to allways travel to an intermediary (which, ironically, would make it NOT p2p). what is far more likely however is that both psn and xbl have underlying network protocols at work to ensure smooth transitions between the matchmaking which is on their servers, and the actual game which is not.
i could be wrong on this as i have not done any extensive testing on the packet traffic for xbl or psn… but if i had to make an educated guess based on my knowledge of computer networking that is what i would say.
So I’ve loved this character right from the beginning but I was always intimidated by the steep learning curve, but I finally decided It’s a new day, new version, I’m gonna man up and learn Cammy. I’ve mostly been practicing in training mode with some of her tactics. I haven’t used her much in matches, but when I do, I get stomped. I guess I’m just looking for encouragement, but how long did it take you all before you started feeling competent with Cammy? And what aspect of her game should I focus on first?
it took me probably 2-3 months before i felt comfortable enough with cammy to bust her out for anything serious. as for what to focus on, i focused on learning her pressure game and how it differentiated itself from my old main’s pressure game (ken). but it’s important to also have a grasp of her fundamentals as you will spend a fair amount of the time with cammy outside trying to get in, and i have found that the better your fundamentals are (footsies, zoning, AA etc.) the easier it becomes to get inside with cammy.
keep at it though man, she takes work, but is well worth the effort when you get it down. only other thing to note is to not feel like you /allways/ have to be in a crazy rush, or applying a ton of pressure. you still have to bait, you will have to play footsies etc and the more comfortable and patient you are on the outside imo the more dangerous you will be on the inside because it will be such a drastic shift from the patience to display elsewhere
To note, there are two versions. There is a Far St. HK and a Close St.HK.
Close St. HK kind of works well… only if they’re in the air. If they’re on the ground, then if you use it, and the block - you get punished. If you use it and they get hit, you still get punished (its -5 on hit)
Far St. Hk as King9999 says works well. You just have to choose the range and such. Its… not spammable. Recommended against characters like Chun Li and Zangief.
this…
you communicate through a server to find a match then it moves to p2p. only thing that comes from the server is replays and leader board info.
If you played off the server people who live in Seattle would always have a green bar connection. Just because you pay for it docent make it better automatically.
And I’ve confirmed this through my uncle and my cousin who works for Microsoft. The only time a game isn’t p2p on xbl is if the Gaming company buys the server and pays Microsoft to run it for them as it is the only way Microsoft would let anyone do that.
It took me less then a week to get into Cammy after that it was just match up knowledge and exp using her in the match, then again I did come from viper…
New to Cammy here. Wanted to ask how viable is EX Cannon Strike (TK version or not) link to Ultra 1 in a real match situation? And what is her best Ultra? Thanks in advance.
