To be honest I don’t even know if I’m doing this right. I’m a long time street fighter fan but I was never aware that there was anything more to it than just Hadoukens until a few months ago when my friend got me into sf4. I actually started with Ryu because it’s what I was used to and for some reason I picked Cammy and it was over from that point on. Since then I have learned a bunch but I still don’t feel like I know anything haha. For instance, I don’t know what TK is. Yes I am that bad. I read all this forum stuff but most of the time I have no idea what it means. Is there some kind of reference page to tell me about these things?
TK is an abbreviation for tiger knee, or in relevant context; tiger knee cannon strike. “Tiger knee” refers to an input shortcut, and this allows you to do a cannon strike on the ground (as opposed to only being able to when you’re jumping toward someone).
The motion for this is: quarter circle back, up forward (toward your opponent) + kick. You want to go straight from the end of the quarter circle back (<-) to up forward, skipping up.
Is there some trick to comboing into special moves from jab chains? I’m struggling to do c.lk c.lp c.lk spiral arrow and can’t seem to find a sweet spot where the timing works.
Chances are, the reason you aren’t able to cancel the second c.lk into spiral arrow is because you aren’t linking it. You can’t cancel c. lk into any special attack unless it’s either by itself or linked. Make sure you give a little pause between the c.lp and c.lk so that they link, not cancel.
Hey guys, I have been playing Cammy for quite a while in SSFIV (I currently have like 2200 BP) and I have some questions because I keep getting owned and I have to step up my game.
How do you do CS > FADC > Ultra? I can do CS > FADC > CS but I can’t seem to combo it into my ultra. Any tips? Every time I pull off the ultra the guy is just hitting the ground and I just spiral into him while doing no damage.
I am using a D-Pad and keep trying to do TKCSes… Is this even possible? Should I even try to do these with a D-Pad? Also, in what situations would I use these?
There are pad players who can consistently tkcs, yes. Playing on a pad is absolutely not ideal, but yes, with enough practice you can do it consistently.
Am I supposed to back dash? If I am then that would explain it but right now I am forward dashing. Thanks for the info. I can’t seem to get TKCS down but maybe ill pick up a fighting stick.
Edit: Also, I am a little confused as to what the strengths of the TKCS are. Is it just solely for on wake up and to string into combos from a fa?
It would take a pretty lengthy article to cover all the nuances of TKCS, but essentially that move is what her mixup game is based on. It could be started right next to the opponent by approaching him in some manner, or on the wakeup of the opponent. By itself, it’s immune to grabs and depending on how it’s done, it can hit over crouching jabbers, it can lead by itself into combos, and importantly is a relatively safe move (EX version even more so). It also has advanced uses such as timing/spacing a safejump or crossup after a backthrow.
I suggest that if you can to pickup an arcade stick, then by all means do so. However success on a pad is very possible. There’s a cammy player called aulord who I believe is a pad player, and his vids were really inspiring when I first started to play cammy.
Thanks for the advice - it’s really helpful - I’m going to be practicing trying to get these all down now. I’ve recently got an arcade stick but it’s just driving me crazy at the moment, I can only pull off the super and ultras on the left side - but anyway, one step at a time. Now to training mode LOL.
You can try to do one after you do a jump in one. Especially if they’re grab happy, you’ll hit them then you can combo into it. I didn’t use TKCS at all when I first started playing and didn’t see any use for it, but when I actually started incorporating it in my armory it is one of the best things for her. This works well against grapplers or grab happys from what I’ve been through, because you’ll do a dive kick, then they’ll try and 360 you, they’ll wiff if you TKCS (especially EX), then you get one of her most damaging combos that barely (or non) meter. Plus, that combo does so much stun. 580! Get that off twice within a few seconds and you stun them, and you get the gratification you just dizzied them and if you have ultra then have fun (even though damage scaling will tone it down considerably, but it’s still free damage)!
Cannon Spike fadc Cannon Spike was nerfed heavily in Super IV. Is there anything else I can do for a big punish other than that move? It doesn’t seem to be worth doing now . . .
best punish imo is ex tkcs > tkcs > cr.fp > cr.mk xx HKSA. and against chars where that combo only gives 1 hit of SA just replace the cr.fp > cr.mk link with cl.mp > cr.mp as the link is much easier and the damage is negligable.
other punishes include tkcs > cl.fp xx hksa, dp fadcb ultra, ultra alone etc.
