Cammy Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I said close range. If you want to play with max range, go ahead. I don’t specifically like using max range spiral arrows. I feel really lame using the move.

Missed the bit about close range.

I personally don’t think the game has any cheap moves whatsoever. But that has been discussed more than need be. Besides (I’ve seen your videos) unlike you, I need all the moves I have, including cheap ones.

Hi everyone - I’m new here so I hope this is an okay place to ask this question. I main as Cammy and I want to move on from my fightpad to a Tstick, in your opinions does this help peoples game? I do put a lot of time in, and I know that my muscle memory will have to be worked on, but there are several moves I find using Cammy that don’t always come out on the pad - such as the really low CS & holigan - I used to play in the arcades and so I do know that I like the stick (but it’s been a few years.) Was just hoping for some advice from fellow Cammy fans …

Instant CStrike is really, much easier to do on TE Stick (granted, I cant play on pad … ) but yeah… It does help.

I just need to practice more so I could fadc ultra >.>

But yeah. I think you just need to get used to it and the input will be more accurate than a pad.

If you can already perform all the combos of Cammy with a pad then you don’t need a Tstick. Otherwise, yes it will help.

I’ve seen a great difference since I’ve been playing with a stick although all the moves I want to do don’t always come out.

Anyone have idea on how to deal with m.bison pressure? short short short lk scissors, short lk scissors - and his mk and standing hk. …

its just annoying.

what strategies do you adopt?

I’m not very good against him, but I usually use cr. lk after his scissors. Then into BnB. I’d like to hear what the better players do, because I have trouble with a good Bison giving pressure too.

How to play Cammy as a footsie?

The only one I could think of right now is… crouch MK hit confirm into h.sa. What is the timing on the canceling? How large is the window to do so?

Only two tools I can think of… Standing MK and Standing HK. … and maybe crouch mk, crouch MP, standing MP.

I buffer crouching mk into spiral arrow, if they walk into the hitbox it follows through, otherwise you just whiff the kick. Works well against Boxer’s rush punches specifically. Bison, just jump back if they start to pressure you.

If I try to jump against bison, I’ll just get combo’ed. His short seems to beat my jump, going into a combo, and he can still hit me with his standing MK standing HK. I’ll try that next time though… to see if it works.

No clue if this has been asked, but for those that play multiple characters aside from Cammy, who would you say is her opposite in fighting style? I mean, I would guess it would be someone large, slow, and throws projectiles (aka Sagat), but there might be more to it than that. Ideas?

Dhalsim would be the opposite of Cammy IMO.

My second alt is Zangief because he feels completely opposite of Cammy. I also like Adon. Because he is fast, he plays a lot like her.

To Cammy Players on PAD

I’m using analog stick

How do you select CSpike or Spiral arrow? Most of the time that I want Cspike, an arrow comes out. Its frustrating.

And then there is something that I like to do… crouch short into Throw. But if I attemp this, I guess its due to me just moving the analog stick to forward, I get short into lk spiral arrow :frowning:

Just throwing this question out…

… directional pad feels weird.

well i just use the analog for doing cstrikes only and the directional pad for everything else. its a lot of switching back and forth, but i’m totally used to it now and you can barely tell im even switching between them on the fly. the directional pad just feels more comfortable for spiral arrows, cspikes, and whatnot. cstrikes are the only thing that requires really precise motions. if you’re set on just using the analog, i suggest to try using it like you would a joystick and letting the analog go neutral before going for the throw after the crouching short. for cspikes and spiral arrows, i would just practice the motions over and over in training mode until they feel natural.

Kinda embarrassed to be here seeing is how I’ve been using her for years but… I need help on my ground game with Cammy. Just a few minutes ago I got destroyed by the worst Akuma hadouken spam I’ve ever seen in my life time. I Couldn’t get anywhere near the guy and I got so frustrated I lost focus and lost the match. I have great rush down but once cornered I don’t know what to do really. Like I know but nothing comes out the way I want it to and BAM random cannon spike when I try to drill. So can someone assist me on ground game please? Do’s and Don’ts? I’m good with Focus dashing but not to well idk… just need assistance.

Thanks for the advice guys  I’ve been practising the ground Cstrike and I’m hitting it on and off with the fight pad and with the arcade stick, which is slightly frustrating - but I’m sure I just need to get it into my brain. TBH - I still can’t do the FADC - it’s really frustrating me. I know it’s such a newbie question, but everytime I see someone else use it, it really frustrates me - I just can’t seem to get it down. Can anyone break it down completley? Or is there a video link that can show the timing - it seems super fast to me when I do land it, and by then, I’m just thinking - I did it!
One more thing, sorry to be a nuisance - but every time I’m trying to combo JHK - CMK - HSA, the spiral arrow comes out as Mk. I’ve tried pausing, but then I don’t hit it at all.

Been seeing a lot of new Cammy players on line lately on a better note

I use a pad and trust me you can get these things to come out 100 percent of the time on it. I use the analogue stick of the 360 not the dpad though, it is essentially the same as a TE stick regarding movement its just your arm is probably more developed than your thumb at this stage, push on through the burn and you wont need to spend a 100 though

anyhoo regarding your questions.

1.tkcs quarter circle back and then diagonally forward up and kick AT THE SAME TIME. The diagonal up movement cuts directly across the stick from quarter circle back to diagonal up as the stick hits the diagonal up you press the kick button at the same time.
2.FADC? You mean you cant do it at all? OK example. Cannon spike= cannon spike, then hit focus attack immediately and HOLD THE FA BUTTONS, as fast as you can dash forward or backward. As soon as you begin to dash you may release the FA buttons and begin to input your next attack.
3. Dont mash the buttons, input all commands sequentially and only once. Jump forward and hk. Hold down as soon as the jhk starts, when you hit the ground press medium kick. Roll the quarter circle as soon as that begins. THEN HIT HK. It is a pretty leisurely motion tbh just calm down and dont hit any button more than is necessary.

Hope some of that helps

Ok, i’m quite a newbie in SF but I can make up well with Cammy. However, two things that I need to begin dealing:

a) Turtles, How to deal with them? There must be some way to make them exit from the shell because just attacking only makes them punish you.

b) Random Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Whathever, walking = hadouken, jumping = shoryuken so aproaching seems quite difficult. EX Hooligan and EX spiral do pretty good their job, however they can’t be spamed. Also, there must be some way to deal against shoryuken/Senpuukyaku because once they start spamming it I can’t find a way to exit from it if i get cornered.

So, any advices?

Regarding Hadouken spam: yeah, EX hooligan is your best bet. EX SA works obviously but the spacing is a little tighter plus hooligan gives you better damage. Also, practice your focus dash cancels and learn the spacing on cannon strike to advance on them.

Regarding tatsu into SRK: block! If you’re new to SF you might feel that you always have to react to everything. If they’re being unsafe and throwing out special moves like dollars at the club then just sit back and block. This will teach you the timing on how to punish specials on block. Learn cr.MKxxSpiral Arrow for an easy punish on many srk’s.
