Cammy Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Is there any reason to use any other TK strike than lk? They have the same hitbox, but are active for a different amounts of frames, yes?

On that note, what strikes do you use in different situations?

Like during mixups ~ after spiral quick rise, mk or hk strike, the stuff in DJ-B13 tutorials, the Hk strike wiffs sometimes, and sometimes the MK one will crossup, or wiff and whatnot. am I doing it too early or too late?

During footsie (well lack off) is it mainly hk strikes to get in?

On another note, when buffering cr.lk/cr.mk into spiral, what version of the spiral do you use?

Looking at videos of Sako playing it looks like he ain’t using HK spiral at least (but you should, right? since you can fadc first hit).

When I do my TKstrikes, I use either hk or lk. I don’t think it really matters which one you use since your so close to the ground anyways.

as for which strikes to use in a situation.

HK- I use it for moving in closer to your opponent, after a block string, or just when i want to keep the pressure going. I use hk cannon strike the most out of all the divekicks. it’s also works good if you wanna cross up your opponent.

MK- pretty much the same thing as the HK, but i hardly use mk when cannon striking. i think i probably only use it on their wake up.

LK- you can use it to bait uppercuts when you jump over fireballs, or after a cannon spike. you can also use it for spacing too if you want to keep your distance. when going in with lk strike, i use it to fake a cross up on a back throw or if i want to hit their middle-lower body section. it’s most likely a guarantee 2 link hit if you go for a hit around that area.

also lk cannon strike works best after a spiral arrow knock down. it’s stuffs out uppercuts from pretty much all the characters like akuma, sagat, ryu, ken, and cammy.

for your last question, i always seem to end my combo’s with HK spiral arrow cause if I mess up my combo’s, i can FADC out and not worry about getting punish or you can continue putting the pressure if you have the momentum going.

i think MK arrow is stronger then HK arrow on certain characters if i’m not mistaken? i’m not to sure though

but it’s always good to mix up it up with lk or mk arrow once in awhile, cause you can go for a hooligan tech trap after but i hardly put it to use now days…

EDIT:

also to add about TKCS in her mix-up game. When I manage to score a spiral arrow knock down. I always spam 1 TKCS immediately after the arrow combo. When I do 1 TKCS it gives me the timing on when to attack or block when they do a tech knockdown. If they don’t tech, i do 2 TKCS on their wake up…

so if I wanna be aggressive, i’ll follow up with a block string. it beats most of their normals since it counts as a counter hit. you can also do another TKCS if you want to. so tech knock down- 2 TKCS non-tech knockdown 3 TKCS. if i know their gonna wake up uppercut i’ll just block and punish.

TKCS is one of her best pressure tool. Also, good for building meter, or if you wanna turtle and be unpredictable.

Yeah mines whiff too. I don’t know why this happens. Is this cross up character specific? I think were doing it too early lol

if you plan on using TKCS to it’s fullest potential, A stick is a MUST!

Just wanted to clarify, but Abel’s only reliable way to get out of hooligan shenanigans on wakeup is to backdash? He has no good reversal and his c.jab/c.short has a 5-frame startup.

I ask this because I’m actually an Abel player and I was played James Chen at a LA West qualifiers thing. I thought I would just be able to mash short… if backdashing is the only reliable option, that sucks. =[

and also since i play Cammy on the side… her dive kick/tkcs isn’t safe unless it hits below the torso, correct? If it’s above the torso it can get reversal’d/3-frame jabbed out of? Unless it’s meaty?

your best option is not to tech the wake-up. it will throw cammy’s hooligan pressure out of the water. when you tech your wake-up, you always stand before you crouch and that is why cammy can grab you on wake-up. you might be able to ex-roll out of the hooligan trap, but it would be much easier to just not tech your wake-up. don’t back dash, because you can get caught during that as well.

as far as her tkcs/cstrike is concerned…you are correct, except when using the ex version. ex cstrike is 100% safe on block from any distance.

Sorry, I meant the forward throw hooligan setup. fyi, ex roll can get thrown out of… wait, hooligan catches backdash, or are you talking about the sweep? It really sounds like Abel has limited/no options.

anddd I was right about meaty tkcs/cs being safe? I feel like sometimes I get reversaled or jabbed out of it, does that mean I’m doing it too late or early on wakeup? I’m assuming it should only be done meaty after an untechable knockdown.

if the cammy slightly delays when they go for the throw they can throw the backdash, also they can just let the sweep go and that will catch the backdash as well. and meaty tkcs is safe on block or hit, if your getting jabbed out of it your probably doing it too late (it has more start-up than people give it credit for). and there is no reason to reserve meaty tkcs for untechable knockdown, you can do it for quickstands easily, the best part being if they don’t quickstand you recover and have time to try it again on the normal wake-up.

i will have to verify, but i didnt know that cammy could grab abel while he is in an ex-roll with a hooligan throw. i know she can do a standard throw, but the hooligan i haven’t seen done before. backdash will not protect you on the forward throw setup, as cammy can just step forward and hooligan. it will grab you right out of the dash.

what setups are you having issues with? the tkcs or the normal cstrike? all tkcs are safe on block. the normal cannon strike should be hitting them a little higher than mid-level or lower to be safe on block.

An Abel player and I actually tried this. I’m still new compared to you guys, but nearly every time when I did EX Hooligan and he EX Rolled we just ended up on the other side of screen as we each were.

Ok, for Abel to escape the forward throw > hooligan setup, all he has to do is lp.falling sky. I tested this about 30 times or so and able snatched her ass right out of the air. :frowning:

this news actually makes me sad. I use this against abel a lot and now I will have to be careful when using it.

Edit: you can also wake-up super and ultra to catch her as well.

You should delete that post. Don’t want Abel players to know about it.

I know, right? They still have no real answer to cstrike pressue without meter though.

haha wat a fortunate day. I randomly click on the cammy forum and wat do i find? I nice little tid bit about hooligan throw setups muhaha. Thank you spektrum!

Look at what you started spektrum… LOOK AT IT!!!

:stuck_out_tongue:

… now we have to come and erase your memory men in black style. god damnit spektrum this is a lot of work -_-;

Hey, what can I do? If I didn’t figure it out, someone would have soon! Plus with super around the corner, who knows if that will still work!

oh no worries… after a forward throw either go for hooligan or meaty HK SA…

meaty HK SA Vs Abels air snag
Hooligan Vs Roll or whatever…

what is the m.hooligan trap vs balrog? after a forward throw do i immediately do the mp hooligan or wait slightly? i keep getting headbutt’ed or something.

also, i know that after a backthrow on balrog, i can do a well timed cannon strike so that it would beat out headbutt reversals (if they were not EX) but is it possible to do this on a forward throw and/or after a heavy spiral arrow (if they tech and if they dont)?

I’m a bit lazy to work this out myself but what about forward throw > lp hooligan vs falling sky. Forward throw, backdash mp hooligan

Hey guys, I’ve seen videos of cammys comboing HKSA->FADC->cl.LP… etc etc. (most recently on the Variance Combo Challenge response).

I didn’t realise this was possible, I’ve tried to do it a couple of times and failed miserably. Is it a case of the HKSA being a counterhit, giving the opponent more recovery frames? I’ll love to be able to replicate this in a match!

Thanks in anticipation.
