wtf? i guess i’m glad i have an arcade character backup. honda ftw!
lol?
noob rules for noob tournaments
I am glad my alt is not a console char then…still I’d walk out of a tourny like that. Thats pretty stupid.
Can’t speak for all of Europe . But the tournaments I went too never had a ban on any SF4 character. Wish they would ban Ryu would make it allot more fun. So many Ryu at tourneys here.
wow… that’s beyond lame. so the tourney was on consoles yet all console characters were banned?
the only tourney i went to that was at ALL like that was a team tourney in davis. where they discouraged console characters because one of their setups was a arcade cabinet so using console characters meant your team could only play on the console setups. but even then anyone who DID have a console character, or anyone that didn’t want to play on their arcade (it had korean arcade parts) could play on console.
don’t waste your money on a shadey tournament like that dude.
Alright Cammys, when I dive kick I’m getting thrown right after, or sometimes if I try to tech the throw I end up eating something. Am I just not deep and low enough when I do so?
yea, your hitting them too early/high in the air, so when you land their blockstun is over and they actually have frame adv. You need to learn your height and depth to it, then you can actually use that as a bait to C. spike into ultra for example among other traps.
that sounds like your doing it too high. however your probably not doing it so high that you can’t still punish them for having the audacity to attempt a throw. just do a tkcs right after your cannon strike so that when they try to throw you they get a nice and fun combo for their trouble.
aaaaaahhhhhh, ok. i still don’t have the Cspike to ultra yet, but it’s easy now for me to Cspike FADC Cspike. For some reason FADC ing is still giving a bit trouble to ultra. The timing is what kills me. Can you TKCS combo Ultra? I know these are noob questions, but that is what I am.
yes. it’s easier to link the ex-tkcs to ultra though.
yeah, you can tkcs into ultra. but like spektrum said the ex makes the link much easier
to give you an idea of how much easier, i would say the link from normal tkcs to ultra is 1 or 2 frames at the most, where as from ex strike you probably have 5 or 6. (these are estimates because there is no set frame data for the recovery of tkcs or ex tkcs because both are variable depending on how high up they are).
^ - for TKCS you’d have to do it VERY Fast. Like you have to do the TKCS very close to the ground (and probably use the LK version for best recovery). and Ultra immediately.

Anyways. My friend seems to be using a lot of backdashes with Akuma (mixed in with teleports) (and other characters). How do I punish backdash? The concept is actually quite new to me. Haha. Almost no one does it online (PSN and Games for Windows Live sux)
I took the advise as others have told me when facing boxer. When they backdash I tend to H. SA them, plus it’s much more safe since it’s at a farther distance rather than doing it up close. I’ve also been having trouble with the teleports though. It’s hard for me to get in there when all they’re doing is throwing fireballs from the ground and air then they just teleport away. I got lucky sometimes in a match last night against one online where I had to anticipate his teleport, back dash, and land right next to him. He still beat me, but I got some good punishments in there.
nah you don’t have to use lk version but you do need the tkcs to come out immediately off the ground but i find that is far easier than doing a delayed tkcs anyway. the ultra still has to be activated on the first available frame to combo but i found if i just double tapped the ultra input (not the actual double tap, just hit the buttons 2 times) i have this down to about 60% hit rate. within a couple more weeks i should get it tournament ready.
as for dealing with the backdashes and teleports you should use some option selects, i just posted up the video’s of a bunch of them and i have one specifically designed for akuma.
What do you guys do on Vega (claw’s) pokes? Its annoying. It just hits, I’m in stun. I try to do something. Counterhit. What nots. I’m in more stun.
Also, how do you guys punish his flip thing?
I treat his flip move like any other SRK, it’s just a reeeallly slow one after that initial hit. Try to bait it, you can cannon spike the whiff pretty easily. If you can do that a couple times, the player will usually get gun shy about using it, which means the air is all yours for the rest of the match.
if your talking about the dodge move a sa on it’s recovery works nicely
I thought he ment the flash kick, no?
I don’t bother with trying to approach on the ground against Vega because of his crazy range with that claw. Jump forward Cannon Strike well above his pokes or tipper j.HK since his anti-air is so crappy - you’ll trade at least, or stuff it out right.
I usually walk forward c.MK xx SA his back flips since you’ll likely be on top of him when he does it. Pushes him even further to the corner, which is good times for Cammy.
