I’m actually fairly happy with my performance in this Gouken match, I still have a logn ways to go but I think I am atleast improving. He isn’t the best Gouken player but I don’t think he’s too terrible, although he makes a few mistakes that allow me to make a comeback.
You gotta get a throw game going down for sure. Havn’t seen you use a non-hooligan throw in your vids and imo Cammy’s throws are one of her strongest assests. Tick-throws net me a lot of damage and wakeup russian roulette with throw/DP mixup shenaigans have allowed me to cheese much much better players into victory.
After you land your FAs you should work on getting out a bigger damage combo until your ex tkdk will come out faster cause your only netting 1 low damage attack out of each when c.rh>CS would bring you a lot more.
Get used to dashing IMMEDIATELY after the focus attack connects. Otherwise you wont be able to land a combo or an ultra. If someone is using focus attacks like that, empty jump in and throw them. Also need to stop with the naked spiral arrows. Even if people aren’t punishing you hard now, they will later on and it’s a bad habit to learn.
I would sometimes do the naked SA and got punished appropriately; take enough fierce SRKs to the face while recovering from hk.SA will set you right quickly. Now, SA is still one of my more frequent moves, but I’ve scaled it back some to use in combos (c.lk or c.mk > SA is one of my favorite BNBs) or as a long range punisher for a slow recovery whiff. I actually had a mirror match earlier today and my opponent threw a lot of naked SA and ultras; it was an interesting training program for “block and counter” (haven’t been able to play much lately, so I did manage to almost jack myself up through improper FA countering and avoidance and also inputting too fast and accidentally doing a lot of random C.Spikes ).
Ok, I do have another question now: do you guys have any suggestions for playing through some laggy games? Cammy requires some pretty tight timing, and when I get a half-second input delay from a 2-bar match, things just tend to turn to crap, especially against heavy FB users.
You’ll hate this answer but… don’t play 2-bar matches. I avoid them as much as I can. 3 bars and up all seem to be fine, but 2-bar matches are horrible.
But if you don’t have much choice because 2 bars is all you can find, I understand. The thing you do in laggy matches is just start playing super safe. And keep in mind it’s much harder to punish things, so go ahead an rely more on Cannon Spikes, since they beat lots of moves and the lag makes it harder to punish it.
But otherwise, stay away from anything particularly difficult. There’s really nothing else that can be offered here. Laggy matches suck in EVERY way possible.
Thanks. I’m usually hosting, so I’m going to have to start booting people. Good call on the C.Spikes; I need an “I’m an idiot” sign on my forehead for forgetting that the other guy’s gonna have the same problem with punishing and laggy mixup defense that I’m having.
Was hoping I could avoid having different online and offline styles, but so be it if it can’t be avoided. 2 and a half more weeks until I can finally meet the local players…
So I’m on Stage 4 on challenge 3 where you have to do the Quick Spin Knuckle into the Gyro Dive Smasher. I’m pulling off the command but the problem is is that the super keeps coming out. I’m using the KKK shortcut but still the super comes out. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong in this one.
I was just thinking about my move execution and I have to ask, how easy is it to execute moves on the stick versus the control stick on a 360 controller. I’m asking because on a 360 controller, two QCF’s could turn into a C.Spike. Does this happen with a stick often or is it simply the person messing it up on the stick?
Can’t speak for a stick yet, though I doubt any execution problems would be due to anything other than user error. I had the same problem with double QCFs (“Oh, snap! He’s left himself wide open for an ultra! Here goes…oh… great. EX Cannon Spike. Nice.”).
Try doing them in training mode with input display on: do them at about the same speed and way you usually do them, try doing them while landing from a jump, do them coming out of a dash, do them in every situation you may need to pop it from. I say this because it’s easy to do it while just standing still and focusing on it, but you’re going to need to figure out what’s actually happening when you try to do one “on the spot.” The most likely diagnosis is that you’re not going all the way on one of the QCFs and missing either the D or F or you’re hitting the button just a bit early, while your directional input is still at DF.
Seriously, input display is extremely helpful if you’re having execution problems.
frame data lists "laser slicer"
i first thought it’s the name of a move which i know under a different name.
you know, i play cammy a lot, i completed her normal and hard challenges and i should know if i’m missing something.
so i looked through her frame data, i found spiral arrow, cannon spike, cannon strike, hooligan combo, spin nuckle, her throws,…
what the hell is laser slicer, and what’s the input?
there is a LK, MK, HK and EX version, all with ridiculous startup frames, but all safe on block with -1 frame advantage.
further, the table doesn’t show the frame disadvantage of cannon strike on block. is it safe?
