Cammy Ground Cannon Strike on Pad

dont tell me your switching to stick

Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps I might play both Stick and Pad, alternate as I feel necessary. Some things feel easier on stick, some on pad for me.

We’ll see! Right now, I’m terrible on stick anyway, so it’s not like I’d jump to it. I’m going to practice, see how it feels.

You can play anything on pad. There’s a pad Zangief, and C.Viper. Everything’s a matter of practice and dedication.

I’m not writing off either, as it stands. And it’s not a bad thing to know how to play both, especially since the format standard is PS/3 and I’m an X-box player. Goddamned good converters are hard to find.

don’t forget you can ex-TKCS into an ultra 1.

Maybe I should lose faith in the pad now that you’ve made the switch and say the stick is easier. The only reason I haven’t gotten a stick is just the principle of paying that much for any controller; they’re obscenely overpriced.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I said -SOME- things are easier, not all. I have said there’s a certain precision to it, but it also feels -overly- sensitive in its movements. It’s kind of aggravating.

First off, I’m still of the belief that a thumb can move a hell of a lot faster than an entire wrist. Plus there’s the fact that you have to figure out how to properly hold the damned thing. There’s only one way to hold a pad, as opposed to the arcade sticks entirety of postures: Baseball bat, wineglass, etc…

Throw techs are easier on a pad for one, and I think maneuvering in general is just a lot easier. I just -got- the thing, and I haven’t -given up- pad. I’m trying something new out. I got a stick for free, anyway.

I wouldn’t advocate giving up a pad, nor would I advocate playing on anything other than what you’re most comfortable with. I’m not even sure I’m going to convert to stick in the first place.

If I change to a stick, or decide to play one sometimes, this shouldn’t be a bearing on what you, or anyone else decides to play on.

I -know- firsthand that pads are competitive. Hell, Vangief got top 8 at Evo with a pad Zangief, and Wolfkrone burns up stuff with Viper on pad, and he can play stick too. You don’t -need- a stick if you don’t want one. Besides, you’re right, they’re mad expensive.

Double post.

Ok, guess I jumped the gun. I’m not sure I agree that there’s only 1 way to put your thumb on the dpad, mine moves around all the time for different moves. And I never thought of putting my thumb-tip on the dpad like in that youtube video.

I’m still on a PS2 pad; I purchased a sega saturn pad recently which is alleged to be great for fighters, but I hated it; the buttons were too far apart and impossible to press simultaneously (i.e. three-kicks for ultra). I didn’t even like the dpad, which was bigger than the dualshock and I had to make more exaggerated movements. I’ve thought of getting one of the madcatz fightpads but I hear they are based on a similar design to the saturn. I guess it could just be the months of practice I’ve put into the dualshock that makes me prefer it, since it’s supposed to be terrible.

What I did take from your post was that TKCS can never reach a 100% success rate on a pad, that it’s much easier to screw it up. That seems to be my experience; I’m getting better and better at it but I’m having to put an inordinate amount of practice in just for one move.

I hope you report back if you do decide to stick with the stick.

I’m in the exactly same boat as you caruga except I don’t think I’ll be spending hundreds on a stick anytime soon. I like to rage alot and I’m always afraid of breaking a $150+ controller.

Hi I’m new on SRK but I’ve been playing Cammy since vanilla. I’m actually pretty consistent with the short cannon strikes on a PS3 pad, I practiced doing Guile’s ultra backwards… I’m not sure if that makes sense. But instead of the circle motion from the front you start from the down position.

P.S. AuLord you’re one of my inspirations, top 2 Cammys in the world imo

like that video shows, i have to maneuver my thumb in such an awkward manner to do it…

i might be able to do it if i had an octo-gate for my stick.

ex tkcs is easy, i run my analog stick and go ub instead of uf. easy peasy trials.

Ofc I can’t do it consistently on a pad. I think that’s why I chuckled when I missed that one on the vid.

I wasn’t going to spend the best part of an afternoon trying to get around 15 secs of TKCS 100%. I had a quick practice (as I do before any session) and then filmed it once to see how many I could nail.

I don’t doubt that the stick is easier… but, living in the UK, there is no scene near me, I play online only and Street Fighter isn’t important enough for me to purchase one.

I’m happy with the TKCS and it’s satisfying when people message “Stick whore” after a match.

We should totally have a mini competition to see who can do the most TKCS in a row on a pad.

I used the pad for about 3 months before I switched to stick.

A year later I’ve finally become accustomed to the stick and execution is decent. It takes a lot of patience to switch so don’t give up at first.

AuLord is right in that the stick is really fidgety when it comes to position. I find that I have to remember the position I am sitting in, how I hold the stick, angle of wrist etc. I’m still battling on whether I like sitting in the chair with stick on lap vs sitting on ground with stick in front of me…(it makes a difference). Sometimes when Im playing the stick kind of turns sideways (don’t know maybe I get too crazyyyy with it or something) and then everything starts to come out as a DP mid match.

The stick is more precise and performing combos etc with your fingers on large buttons is much better.

Pad - I dash a lot faster with the pad! I’m a bit slow to dash with a fight stick. Pad is also really comfortable and I could play while laying down. I didn’t need to worry about posture or positioning at all. Everything is possible with pad, it just takes a lot of practice (like I stated before 2 weeks/2 hours a day to get TKCS on a pad, 30 minutes total on a fight stick).

Woah good to see you made the jump, can’t wait to see you after you’ve mastered that baby :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Do you play on a Fight pad Aulord? Like, the MadCatz ones? I play on a 360 controller and I feel my execution isn’t what it could be. I have trouble doing certain important combo’s from both sides of the screen. Ultra from the right side, a certain BnB from the right. I also perform TKCS’s much better from the right side.

I actually really want to buy the TE stick. I get frustrated when I have to change my game around the controller. The game becomes about hitting the input correctly and not about actually naturally reacting to the game. I know that with enough time, I could probably master everything on the 360 controller even though it would be extremely difficult. I’ve never actually played with an Arcade stick. I’m hoping that I’ll have better execution with it.

.__________.
For all this time I thought you were a stick user like everyone else…

Also, I got my stick less than a month ago, and I wholeheartedly agree with TKCS being so much easier on stick; It wasn’t really that hard to get consistent on pad though…

I wonder if anybody here can do TKCS on a pad with near 100%. I’ve been practicing this shit for weeks and days and hours and I’d say I’m about 80-90% or so on a good day, slightly less on a bad day or when pressured.

I play Cammy on a Xbox360 DPad, and I have never, EVER gotten the TKCS to work on it.

In fact, when I want it to come out, I jump my thumb up to the control stick, TKCS, and then hop back down to the DPad.

^^this
you had my problem since its so small i end up getting that or cannon spike. Also I can only do them on the left side not the right. ITS WAY AKWARD on the right side also I cant do it in the slightest bit of lag or i get FJ RH.

I could never to a TKCS on a 360 controller d-pad, or even comprehend how anyone would be able to. When I played with a controller I used the analog stick to attempt them, and I could do maybe 1 or 2 before giving up. When I got my arcade stick it took me a whole 5 minutes to learn it.
