Calling all KOF fans! PSN KOF XII community revival!

i finally got the patch to download so i can join you all

PSN KOF XII Online Tournament coming soon! To put all the “my connection works fine with other games” or “I’m wireless but my PS3 is close to the router” arguments to rest, KOF XII seems to have been made for WIRED CONNECTIONS of 20 Mb or higher. Distance doesn’t appear to have as big of an impact as actual connection speed in this game.

Now that we got that outta the way…

Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
T1 | Business Broadband & Voice Provider | Speakeasy Inc.

Use those websites to test your connection speed using whatever test server is the closest to yourself for your MAIN test and then one in each region (south, west, north and east). Use the PS3 browser for all tests and then take a screenshot of the results.

For those unfamiliar with how to do that - position the screen where you want it, zoom in on the result so it can be read easier, press Triangle then highlight [FILE] and press X, then go down and select [SAVE SCREENSHOT] and press X. The rest should be pretty straight forward after that.

Send the results via PSN message to hdcloudstrife08 (tournament host) and a picture (if possible) of your PS3 on a wired connection with a cell phone or something and write your PSN on a piece of paper and put it in the shot so we know it’s “legit”.

WIRED 20Mb or higher connections are not only recommended but also required in order for all match-ups to run smoothly.

While a match is in session, whether you’re a spectator and ESPECIALLY if you’re in a match, DO NOT go to the XMB for any reason at all until the match is over and everyone is back in the pre-fight lobby. Ignore all the COD:BO and SSF IV invites and the “is that game good?” messages from your friends list. lol

Since you’re going through all the effort for this tournament, I’ll sweeten the pie a lil bit…$20 PSN card to the winner of the tournament!

I have my mic charged this time so i can communicate better. I’ll do the tests tonight.

Interesting, I didn’t think anyone on SRK would consider playing KOFXII. Man I was so upset with this game for the longest ever since I played it at my local arcade a few summers ago, however since there is still no word on a console release for KOFXIII and I recently had DL the psn demo of XII I kinda like and I miss playing against fans of this series…so hopefully this week if not next week I’ll pick it up and join this crowd. Glad there are a small few who are willingly to overlook the flaws of this game

Hi I’m a huge lurker @ SRK but I wanna thank this thread for solving the mystery of why my online experience with this game is awful. I need a connection 4x stronger.
I?ve tried making the PS3 the sole internet user, a wired connection and port forwarding but nothing got better.
Shame because the fighting system isn’t the worst, its just incomplete. Its kinda fun.

hey i wanna join the Kof x12 crew

You know what you gotta do…OKAY!

I was in the same boat when it came out in 09, I had 20 Mb connection which was blazin (it’s pretty much standard now) but I was also using WiFi which worked great for HDR and SF IV and other games online. It wasn’t until holiday season 2010 that me and the crew sat down to iron things out.

The crew awaits your arrival!

Hi, I ordered KoF XII the other day and it should be here this week. I won’t be able to play because my connection is only 4Mb and that’s pretty much the fastest you can get in my area (officially it’s up to 20mb). I also have a wireless connection, but I thought I’d let you know that there are people out there that are interested in KoF. If I ever get a faster connection and people are still playing then count me in.

We’re still here…message either one of us when you’re ready.
