Call of Duty thread: always bet on Black. OPS. Unless it sucks

really ?well yeah I have a 360, but I have more friends on the ps3 than the 360 :l

I might get it for the 360 when the price is low.

not all of us can afford to spend 60 bucks trying something

Really liking the game so far.

Sniping seems pointless.

Its really tough to kill people with last stand

still too early to judge but I like it. Sniping doesn’t seem viable…at least not yet, still learning the new spots…

Where the hell can you view your overall stats like Kills/wins?

I love the new game, its not noob friendly at all…I’ve seen some people who easily average 2kd in MW2 drop down to below 1.00…its just not a game for idiots to be honest. With that sad I’m holding a 1.6 right now and I swear its hard to stay consistent, I still love the new game though. Its satisfying to not have to worry about getting noobtubed everytime i see some one lol. Knife is still pretty bad though and the servers on psn so far havent been up to par…im hoping they do something about that.

Where do you go to view your KD?

You can’t see your full KD until you rank up a little bit, I’m not on right now but from memory I think you go to your player card and I cant remember the second part but there’s a few pages where you can check like your KD for each gun, accuracy, etc etc and on like one of the first pages they show your KD

Oh, it must be the ONE option I don’t have unlocked. I’m guessing its the one where you unlock it at level 13, I can’t see it since i’m only level 12.

This is the kind of gaming attitude I dislike. There is nothing wrong with a game having noob elements to attract those who have never played the game before. If its all hardcore, then I’ll just stick with my BC series…

haha the leaderboards are so glitchy, it says I have 18,436 kills… I probably only have 8000 if that…

First day Impressions:

The Bad
-Some of the maps have so much wasted space.
-The guns feel really underpowered, even more so with silencers attached.
-Invisible knife ranges seem worse than MW2, but it also could be the very laggy servers.
-Some contracts don’t seem to register when I finish them, then they expire.
-I don’t like how the leaderboards look, as they split up all the game modes and it only shows your last 20 games or so on your combat card.
-Not really liking a lot of the maps.

The Good
-Not dying to so many random things.
-Customization and attachments being available if you have the points.
-Zombies.
-Less chaotic kill-streaks(kinda bad too, a lot seem pretty worthless)

The Cons outweigh the Pros ATM, we’ll see as the days go on

I’m gonna run some training grounds to see if the guns are really as weak as I find them, or if it’s just because of the server lag not registering bullets.

So far I’m actually digging the solo campaign right now

I dunno if its the lag, but it takes alot of bullets to drop people now.

My games keep crashing when I try to party with my friends and join games =/ Solo, it never does this.

just like cod 4 being better than WaW, MW2 will shit on black ops

treyarch is not better than infinity ward in any way

i kinda feel dumb for buying this but oh well the multiplayer will be fun

So far only played multiplayer - once I popped the game in my friends started sending me invites.

  • Does seem to take a lot of bullets to drop someone. Some weapons feel really weak.
  • Hit detection is really bad for knifing.
  • Matchmaking is really painful right now, but it could just be the servers overwhelmed.
  • The game seems really laggy sometimes, but I think again it’s just servers being overwhelmed.
  • The dive move is nice but will still take some getting used to compared to the old drop shotting.
  • Money is easy to make and you can buy what you want, which is nice.
  • The player card editing is really nice.
  • The spawns are fucking horrible. Sometimes you spawn right next to the enemy and the spawns swap really quickly. I know this is to prevent camping but fails in execution. People are still camping in buildings.
  • Haven’t played all the maps enough to get a good feel of them, but it’s definitely harder to hold areas down, especially with how fast the spawns change.

I think I’ll still need to play it some more before I make a judgment.

So far it seems like mw2 with most of the dumb stuff corrected. I don’t get the graphics/sound complaints, as it looks and sounds as good as any other cod game. The single player is pretty bleh so far, although the story is interesting/weird.

I apologize to everyone ahead of time, but far now it seems, the quickest way to get into a game is to run 3 people or less. Until they fix the issue with not connecting correctly to games, if I do not respond to your invite or send you one after you message me, it is because I am running with two others, and it was a hassle to even get that running.

The maps look great, but the guns are pretty damn ugly. Once they iron out a few little issues (party connection issues, the bullet registration if they can) this’ll be a lot of fun. I’m already enjoying it more than MW2 for the simple fact it feels… simpler. It’s not about scoring 5/7/11 killstreaks with future bullshit, it’s a lot more about guns. Which I fucking love. Also, just got my first collateral with a sniper; going to put it up on the youtube in a minute here.

I’ve reformed my opinion on the sound. Add a little bass and the weapon sounds are actually pretty cool. Perhaps even better than MW2. It’s simply all the gameplay vids on youtube over the past few months that made it sound terrible.

Your entitled to your opinion and thats cool, and I actually agree with SOME noob elements. The nonsense in MW2 though: danger close\one man army
oobtube\commando and all that other nonsense was seriously beyond a “noob element” imo.
