I can tell you as a matter of fact that ever since we are doing this Saturday thing, everybody has improved his game dramatically. You never know what will happen next, maybe even Garrett will finally master his A-groove vega and bison. :wow:
I am actually thinking about doing a mini tourney for one game every week in the Saturday evening thing, and see how that goes. What do you guys think of that? Probably for this coming week will be cvs2. :tup:
I like the poster you have on the MVC2 machine about fight night. Maybe you should add the fact the best people will be there so if anyone wants to learn they they show up.
Is there no way for them to change the 3S cabinet? I’m fine with them and all b/c I’m used to it but they aren’t the best plus, it’s pretty crowd there. Minor complaint though.
I think you should make a CvS2 and Neowave tourney.
i’m fine with the cabinet. but that’s cuz i’m used to it. however…touching another guy’s hand while doing tackles isn’t a great experience. i’d love to see 3s back on a big machine. since a new owner and management is in town, maybe that’s possible?!?
weekly tourney sounds great. cvs2/neowave can go first…3s/mvc2 second…if there’s enough ppl, ggxx could go too…but i dunno how many actually would play ggxx…that game is too random.
As far as the third strike machine goes, you guys should let the owner know how you feel about the cabinet yourself. He is a great guy and he will appreciate your comment. The more people mentioning it to him, the higher the chance he is likely going to consider. (simple logic) :tup: In the mean time, the owner has changed the setting back to 2 credits/loonie.
As far as the tournament is concerned, we will ensure that third strike will be on a big screen. Especially when we don’t encourage homosexuality, so we want to make sure guys don’t touch each other’s hand consistently while having a tournament match.
Also, please tell me why you guys want to do two games tournament on one Saturday. The reason I suggest one game is that the other four games(alpha 3 be coming to make it five) will be available for those who are waiting for their turn in the tournament. If you guys have good reasons, then we sure can go for it.
Yeah. 3rd strike on big cabinet would be good. I highly doubt there’s any virtua Fighter/tekken scene in Calgary. Also, maybe switch out the joystick in CvS2 1st player left side. It’s starting to show it’s age and it’s a lot looser than the 2nd player side.
We can definitely ask to have the 1st player joystick switch out, and it should(key word) be done by Saturday.
So everyone agreed with the mini-tourney on each Saturday, right? You are automatically enter once you pay the entry fee for the free fighting game night, so only you choose to get involved or not.
The prizes will be like rebate of entry fee with next saturday visit be free, and possibly movie passes(need to be confirmed first). Also, if the same person wins those mini-tourneys a couple times, then of course they have the bragging right of being the best in Calgary for that game. :wow:

Owner also mentioned about changing the joystick board of third strike to a wider one to keep distance between players and keep it at 2 credits/loonie.
Every Saturday night sounds cool, how’s the competition? I honestly have never played GGX2 outside of my friends, but am looking to play more people; and didn’t even know a ggx2 scene existed in this cultrally lacking city Is there a diverse range of competition? or will this be $10 of a gauranteed loss.
P.S. how many games are gauranteed? i’m just intrested in playing Guilty Gear X2, and does it start the same time every week?
Okay, since Saturday night will always start at 5pm to 1am(closing) and about 25 people surrounding 5 fighting games, if you can’t even get 10 games in during that time, there are only two possiblities:
You are too damn good, that you stick to your machine for a whole 8 hours without losing a match. OR
You show up really really late, right before everyone has to leave.
In the worse case, if there are just WAY TOO MANY people playing GGXX, there is still a Guilty Gear isuka machine for you in free play mode all night. Does that sound good to you? :wow:
Then, there is an instant entry fee rebate for the FIRST PERSON in each game whom achieve 10 wins in a row. So, everybody wins and nobody loses for coming.
Ah, that’s dam sweet, didn’t know it was free play as in hit the start button and play for $10. In that case i’m in for sure…hope there isn’t too many hardcores
Tourny’s sound great, we could even try weird stuff later on like CVS 1v1 or 3 chars instead of standard ratio or even tag matches.

These mini tourneys sound like a great way to get our game up. :tup: Looks like my Calgary CvS2 crown is in jeopardy. Gotta keep practicing so I don’t fall behind. I hope poker doesn’t last too long. Hopefully I can make this 1st one.

challenge(that’s where you seed ppl first…then vote someone else to challenge the seeded players…sounds no fun? well, in this case, ppl also get to select the chars, supers, orders, etc for the seed players… sooooo…we could have somethinglike…
3s: trung(12) vs say, eric (whatever he likes)
mvc2: nelson (team scrub) vs ray (servbot, dan, roll)
etc etc
random tourney(for 3s and mvc2, it’s blind fold and rotate sticks like mad shit)
just some of the stuffs i saw in the past and in the vids…it’ll be fun…

I play A3. Not that good anymore, but I would love a challenge.
As for the tourney, 2 games/tourney b/c then there would be at least 2-3 tournies for each game before the BIG one.
For the tourney Ian, I think you should go with 2 characters Ratio 2 each. Do a Round Robin, with the top 2 do a best out of 5 or 7. This way everyone gets to play no more waiting for games to finish, you know how long that (CvS2 round) takes. The games go by faster b/c it’s R2. It’s also alot easier to keep track of then a normal bracket battle but that’s just me.
Also about the 3S cab, I’m never @ the U anymore so I can’t really talk to the owner. I know he’s a nice guy and all but I’m just never there.
Anyways, hopefully more 3S people come this Sat. I need more perfects :karate:

Yes… I don’t know shit about MvC2 but that sounds like a crap ass team
From the looks of things to come, this coming tourney should have a huge turnout. However, it also depends on which game you are most interested as well. This will be the one of the biggest, if not the biggest tourney ever run in Calgary. Do you best to come and have some fun with us, we will give you a challenge. Housing should not be much trouble, we’ll update you on that.

cvs2 tourney this week (normal or round robin, depends on #)
Tag matches and challenges in 3s and marvel (make those challenges now, and possibly make a team of 3 in advance will save some time as well)
Note: Yes, cvs2 does take longer to run than other matches, but it won’t be so bad if we decide to walk forward more often than backward ! :karate: J/K we will manage to finish it before closing though, unless we have too many participants then we will adjust to make it right.
