As far as tech goes it’s pretty much just Quan Chi killing you immediately on block that was removed (which is one of my favourite glitches ever), from what I remember. And they made D’vorha’s bug cancel a 1f timing thing but then reverted it back again. Game has more dirt-baggery than a lot of other fighting games (as does Injustice - see Aquaman, and MK9 - see Cyrax)
MK9 they were really bad for it though. That’s why it ended up with only like 2 playable characters.
It’s certainly not the degree of fun policing we saw in Smash or the SFV beta.
Online is really frustrating. More than SF4 was I think. I can’t count on my anti-airs and I feel like Gief gets bullied so hard once people are in. I think that his pressure when he corners the other player is good, but it’s pretty impossible to walk someone like Nash to the corner and keep them there. The game is fun right now, but i feel like it’s because it is still new and I’m excited to have a street fighter to play online again.
Also, footsies online is a fucking joke. Basically every decent person I go up against tries to play footsies for maybe ten seconds, then one of us gets frustrated and uses some gimmick to close the distance and start pressing buttons. There is no way you can properly play footsies online in this game. I really can’t see how this game will be playable in that sense online. Trying to use my slow-ass normals to control space is just wasted effort, I am much better off gimmicking my way in with running bear grab than trying to force my opponents into making bad decisions with my buttons. I am very much looking forward to playing this game offline, but until then I guess I’ll just keep pulling my hair out trying to muscle my way through match after laggy match.
