From what I have seen, the season 1 characters do look and move the best IMO, but they were made by a different team, so there’s that.

s1 chars are animated well on the whole, yes, but not all of them (orchid has some weird stuff)
the early s2 chars are tough times a bit, but IG hit their stride later in the season and most of the characters after and including riptor animate really well
s3 seems fine to me animation-wise so far
as far as character design goes, idk, there’ll always be hit and miss. i don’t think sadira (a s1 character) is particularly notable as far as design goes, but i like aganos and stuff from s2. kim’s aesthetic design isn’t that hot in s3, but tusk, arbiter and rash are solid.
oh well, hate what you want, like what you want. the game itself is fun, and every game will have at least some weird character designs you don’t like.
