One of the known examples is you can win “faction specific fatalities”. I assume there will be other cosmetic stuffs too.
Coins (koins?) for the Krypt would be nice.

so I watched that 4 minute vid about the factions… MAN this game is violent lol
the faction specific fatalities are kind of cool (they kind of look like a more violent interactable from injustice, you take some stage thing and use it), as are the faction wars where you team up with other people in the same faction for a waseda style team battle (although team modes are pretty poorly used in fighting games, so this mode might just be a ghost town after 2 weeks who knows)
there’s also a random 24 hour period during the week where all the stakes are increased, i like that
so yeah I guess people will just be picking the faction because “hey i play scorpion and scorpion is the posterboy for this faction”, rather than “hmm, this faction is offering X reward which i really want right now”… i think that second part would be pretty cool, but there’s probably not a whole lot of varying rewards worth offering anyway, you could offer crypt coins for one faction but you’d need 4 other similarly valued rewards, and if crypt coins are all anyone wants, then you’re kinda just forced to offer the same reward to every faction that wins
Scorpion’s faction is dead which is why he’s Scorpion ;).
It’s just funny because anyyy other character belongs to one of those 5 factions haha.
re: the faction stuff… I’m guessing they have more to do with the faction you’ve chosen than the stage. I don’t think it’s coincidence that a Special Forces character uses a drone. Brotherhood probably has demons that eat you up or something.
Man, I really like it when fighters give different modes to a character that dramatically changes how they play. Aside from the groove system in CvS2 changing universal mechanics for a character, thus altering the way they play, the only other game that did this properly was Melty Blood: Actress Again. They had the groove system but the groove selected would give different normals/specials as well as changed the properties of nromals/specials that carried over between the three grooves.
I saw the IGN video displaying Kitana’s use of Jade’s staff and that looked really interesting to me. I still don’t like the game engine to NRS games though so not really sure whether I’ll like MKX or not. It does look better than previous iterations so I’ll give it a shot but I’m not really expecting to take it all that seriously.
Yeah, I can definitely see why the engine isn’t for everyone. Especially when someone didn’t start with games like that. For me, I never took Capcom games seriously as a kid so links in general feel suuuper weird to me and I don’t think I’ll ever get used to systems based on them.
I took Soul Calibur and MK seriously, always. Coincidentally both have “Tekken strings” and block buttons so that’s always been what I’ve preferred. What I really hope they’ve changed in MKX is the ridiculous dial-in your ground combos while you’re still in the air jumping in. That shit is dumb.
What confuses me though is why there’s so much vitriol towards the block button in MK from the Capcom community? Smash has one and no one seems to mind - reasonably because the game is so free flowing that back to block would make no sense. MK is similar in that anyone can instantly be behind you at any moment and hit you with unreactable overheads and lows that lead to 50% damage combos. Back to block in MK would be the least fun experience ever. It would make blocking in Marvel look tame by comparison. Pre-patch Scorpion in Injustice proved this point empirically ;).
Combos in NRS games are surprisingly similar to anime games with chains, juggles, jump/dash cancels, etc (albeit, in general, easier). I think that’s why I love doing them in both styles of games. And they feel like a chore to me in SF4.
Jupiter Ascending is the most insane movie I have ever seen. I am still reeling.
23% on rotten tomatoes
what’s the big deal, pal?
It’s basically like Wachowskis put everything the thought was cool into one movie without thinking how they would fit together or how they would be explained.
It is amazing.
Ya I hope they change how you do attacks from a jump-in. I never did get the hang of how it worked in injustice, and would just get empty button presses every other time after a jump-in and get hit just standing there.
shadowloo showdown announcer: I think Rufus wins this match pretty convincingly [vs. Akuma], so let’s see how Eita handles this
Rufus player lands 3 hits in 4 rounds for 4 consecutive near-perfects
how can any serious SF4 player think rufus beats akuma lol
may i introduce to you guys
my new dance tutorial series
please subscribe to my channel, thanks
haven’t seen to much of dogura this tourny but from what I’ve seen he’s playing pretty smart. seeing as rolento is a “damage” character he’s finding every opportunity to get his opponent in the corner to restrict movement and increase roll space.
hey if anyone is looking for something to do on a saturday night, my band is playing a show at hexters tonight at 11, gonna be a rager.
we’re streaming Derryk’s birthday tonight. If you want to join in the stupidy, text one of us.
What’s the name of the stream, I wanna laugh a little tonight!!
jeez momochi made yun look like the most useless character in the game.
cody lost 40 damage on ultra 2 so that he could get this “buff”
soooo momochi is really good
btw, that anti-yun tech where shoulder red focus cancel whiffs on a reeling ken on counter-hit is something he showed off on topanga TV, he says he intentionally fishes for buttons at a certain range because of that, hoping to get counter-hit so yun wastes 3 bars and ken gets free punish, the preparation work is insane
Hots is basically the best team brawler game, so much fun last night
Wish the roughnecks game my fiancée was at lasted longer so we coulda had more games. Oh well
