basically double-jumps dont seem to carry momentum so if you double-jump straight upwards and thunder instantly it will pretty much always hit you no matter your trajectory, and since you recover really fast if thunder hits you can always make it back if you’re in quick attack range (which is like, anywhere.)
now im scared of practicing this tech in fear of it getting nerfed in the next patch like all my greninja tech and pikachu b-air spikes.

smash is all about low-recovery air attacks, always has been. your goal is not to block them like traditional fighting games, but to use movement to make them whiff so you can punish, or try to interrupt a person’s approach. you tend to be in the air a lot more, which means blocking isn’t really on the table a lot of the time. in fact, smash 4 has the laggiest aerials out of any game in the series (most aerials are borderline unusable close to the ground because their landing lag is so high)
thats not entirely true. smash 4 has auto cancel aerials afaik but they are character specific as to which auto-cancel. most f-airs auto l-cancel when you hit the ground tho. like pikachu can do fastfall f-air and he recovers so fast you can combo into jab/throw/tilt/f-smash after. also rising short-hop aerials finish before u land anyway.
in the 3ds version you could also cancel aerial landing recovery into special moves with alot of characters, but they nerfed :(. (greninja could cancel laggy moves like d-air into side b, toon link could cancel aerial landing into bomb throw etc.)
l still l-cancel most my aerials out of habit even tho it doesnt do anything lol. i think l-cancelling is way too good to not have to do an input for, but the probelm is there is no drawback. its basically FADC without costing any meter.
some auto-cancel, but it’s a designer choice (and some would argue their decisions often make no sense). on average, smash 4’s aerials are laggy though. if you want to use an aerial close to the ground, you’re limited to pretty much one, maybe two, for most characters.
yeah having certain aerials auto-cancel and some not is kinda dumb and subjective. i like the idea of being able to cancel aerial landing into other attacks tho, that couldve been a really good alternative to l-cancelling that wouldve opened up alot of possibilities, though it wasn’t intentional either.
melee is like the perfect game but smash 4 is fresh and exciting and as long as ppl keep developing tech then the game will be alright tho never as good as melee.
also i got melee working online and started playing matches on smashladder.com, and so far its running extremely smoothly, 60 fps and little lag. finally theres online ranked matchmaking for melee!

I bought a digital piano and am self-teaching. It’s incredibly fun - I’m super disappointed in myself for not picking up an instrument sooner. it’s like…really cool taking what I’ve learned from Blazblue combos for the past 5 years and applying it to piano.
I want to take advantage of the time I have before MKX comes out to learn as much as possible. Music is so addictive.
yea i think that ive decided im not going to go to evo this year and use the money for an electronic drum kit instead. feel like i should at least attempt some kind of self improvement this year. dunno when ill actually get the kit yet though.

man, so cool. one girl my band Free the Cynics has played a couple shows with named Susie Forsyth had one of her songs from her recently released EP played on x92.9 today. She has a pretty distinct voice, I heard it at work and realized it was her right away.
Feels like my band which just finished recording our EP will be on the radio!!! So psyched
BTW, we are releasing our EP on March 11th at the Ship & Anchor. Gonna be a good one. Hopefully soon I can post a legit recorded version of one of our songs so y’all can check it out.

the seahawks were down 19-7 with about 3 minutes left, scored a touchdown, recovered an onside kick, then scored another touchdown and got the 2pt conversion to lead 22-19, GB tied it on a field goal but then seattle won in overtime on a long touchdown pass
GB choked it up really bad
