eh, FF has good music but I don’t think it has a lock on anyone’s top 10 list. I’d prob pick my favorite FF song and easily find 9 others

Crono Trigger and Earthbound would def be in my top 10, I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve played through those games, so fuckin good.

  1. Halo 3
  2. Cave Story
  3. Super Metroid
  4. Breath of Fire IV
  5. Gran Turismo 2

top ten VG tunes from ten different series… now that I can’t do, because all the best music was in Mega Man

Really? BoF IV over BoF III or even Dragon’s Quarter.

Top 10 songs is tough to do. Way too many. Overall soundtracks is easier.

Smash Bros Brawl although it’s kinda a cheat cause it includes songs from multiple franchises.
Mega Man 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6
DuckTales
Persona 4
Bravely Default
Ninja Gaiden
F-zero x

how can you possibly like Dragon’s Quarter? that game was so bad it killed the whole series

BoFIV most epic story, Fou Lu best bad guy in the series, loved the aesthetic, badass soundtrack, fun battle system.
I’d go IV > II > III > I >>>>>>>>>>> dragon’s quarter

Most of the storyline’s to BoF aren’t that great but it’s usually the character development that’s the series strong point. Dragon Quarter

BoF IV’s characterization between Ryu and Fou Lu was very interesting but the problem with this is that it made the supporting cast uninteresting. I also felt the game’s pacing was really fast when it could have slowed things down to develop the supporting cast further. The design work and music was really good but the battle system wasn’t that interesting but outside of Dragon Quarter none of the BoF games had a particularly good battle system.

BoF III’s characters were much more memorable and you definitely felt like you went on a journey with them given the characterization, length and content of the game.

Dragon Quarter’s basic premise was very standard post-apocalyptic stories and the overall story was very simple. However, I didn’t mind that simplicity because they did a really good job keeping focus on Ryu’s internal struggle and the relationship between Ryu & Nina. There’s a couple things about the game that remind me of the best qualities of Ico particularly the relationship between Ryu & Nina reminded me of Ico’s protagonist & Yorda. Also, the rivalry between Ryu and Bosch was also interesting enough. The battle system was probably my favourite battle system for a BoF game because it was much more active but also had strategic elements to it. Plus, the game had a ton of other interesting and fresh concepts for an RPG at the time of it’s release. It was a refreshing take on RPG’s at the time.

Dragon Quarter didn’t kill the series. It took a lot of risks and if you looked it as a stand alone RPG it was really good. You can gripe about how it’s not a traditional BoF but the game itself was good. Majority of reviews and fan feedback for the game was positive as well. The series went into remission because Capcom didn’t want to compete in the RPG market. Really hesitant on BoF 6 being PC/Android/IoS only. It seems like they would have to sacrifice a lot to deal with hardware limitations of Android/IoS.

I change my top 5. Red alert2 is out of the equation.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 takes its place.
