well shit i was pretty much right with all my guesses apart from the tekken one.
i wouldnt mind betting nintendo are gonna pull the plug on this one though. theyll find some way to claim that it could harm the sales of the new one or some lame shit like that.
Some of my industry friends are friends with people in Nintendo’s offices in Seattle, and basically what I heard from them last year is that Nintendo is actually somewhat ashamed of Smash Bros, in the sense that it’s classic Nintendo characters beating each other up and it’s not the thing they want broadcast to the world. Don’t ask me why they keep making the games if they don’t want to project that image… Nintendo never really did make a lot of sense. But I think they’re kind of happy with it selling “a little bit” and being played in homes, but not being a flagship Nintendo product at a large tournament. Take this post with a large grain of salt, as it’s hearsay, but it’s what I was told. Of course, none of it makes any sense and all of it is stupid.
I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo squashed Melee this year. Only Nintendo would pass up such amazing free press for their latest Smash game, but I can definitely see it happening.
I’m going down for the whole weekend. Lets play some marvel.
