hooray, KI confirmed not to have “violent” fatalities/no mercies in this next season, but they will have “stage ultras” which I guess is just a different ultra combo that bounces you off the stage in a certain way or something

that match was so weak. wtf daigo. leaves ryu and gets beat by a weaker ryu player. he dropped so many combos, so sloppy. he shouldve stuck to ryu, he never wouldve lost that mirror.
daigo plays e ryu just like regular ryu, not eryu. he likes to space with fireballs alot and press cr.mk, both of which ryu is better at. i feel like if ur gonna play him like ryu then jsut use ryu. to me i see eryu as being less fireball dependent, sort of like ken. u wanna get in there.
sako’s eryu is way better. more consistent advanced combos and he doesnt get punished for fireballs nearly as much, because he doenst play him like ryu.
Stage ultras were in the previous games. You could knock people off the stage (in case it was a skyscraper) or in KI Gold/2 you could knock people into stage hazards such as flame pits, wells or into the path of an oncoming train.
None of these were gory, though. They just looked silly. The character flies away when they get hit by the train.
my thoughts exactly karl. he plays e.ryu as if he were ryu.
daigo isn’t exactly known for his stellar execution either so he shouldnt be going for high execution characters. he missed tons of e.ryu combos all day, not just in the john choi match.
John Choi missed a lot of combo opportunities as well. His win was based on his excellent fireball game and good reads vs Daigo.

not sure why they didnt stream Daigo vs John Choi or Infiltration vs Eita or Xian vs Itabashi.
they should always stream the match if a juggernaut is potentially going to get eliminated.
they make bad decisions on which matches to stream every year. i understand its a gong show running Evo but Rule #1 should be “Stream every single Daigo match” because all of us want to see it.
