First round exit, apparently not.
i think he means that making the playoffs doesn’t work. or finishing 2nd in the division doesnt work. or finishing 5th in the conference? that was also the year Kips almost broke the record for most wins in a season by a goaltender.
alright, so in your world, not making the playoffs is preferable to making the playoffs.
gotcha!
Whatever.
Flames are assss anyways.
“My snippy arguments aren’t working on well-educated hockey fans… quick, call them ass! That’ll show 'em!”
The year we lost in the first round with Cammalleri, we were hooooorribly injured. Even Cammalleri had some big injury he was trying to play through and I think our top 4 Dmen were out long-term. We got beat up by the Hawks who were mostly injury-free that year.
even ricky is breathing down your neck? yikes
I’m saying it because the Flames are garbage with or without Cammalleri.
Bringing back old players isn’t a cup winning formula.
You guys can keep saying this will be good for the flames, but be prepared for another year of disappointment.
TBH I’m really happy about the trade because it means Bourque, a wasted potential in Calgary, can move on to bigger and better things elsewhere. The only thing left now is to trade Iginla so he can get a cup he rightly deserves.
Incase you haven’t realized yet, I’m a Flyers fan.
besides, the year he was traded he scored more goals in the playoffs with the canadiens than any other player in the playoffs. Incl 7 in a single series(vs the penguins no less)
Nobody in Calgary is expecting a cup this year. We just want to get better as a team. Bringing back old players can improve a team just as well as bringing in someone who hasn’t played for your team before.
Also lol @ Bourque being wasted potential in Calgary… you think he’s gonna run the Habs offense with Scott f Gomez? When Bourque retires in 10 years, his best years will have been with the Flames, bet it.
The Cammalleri deal may or may not pay off, but most people can objectively agree that it’s probably a good hockey gamble worth taking, especially given Cam’s apparent excitement to play here again.
The flames suck because they have zero heart 85% of the time. When they play to their potential they can hang with any team in the league. We have the most baller goalie in the league, we have Jerome iginla(40 goal scorer), glenny(on pace for 40) tanguay(ridiculous playmaker and shoot out champ) jokinen(finally playing like he’s supposed to) and some youth with Horak and backlund on the rise.
We have all of the ingredients to be a winning team, but there’s no guts in it. They have finally figured out their top line(thank god) and are getting some depth to the lineup. All of those washed up guys we acquired just need a spark, and we are back in business. Hopefully cammy can motivate the guys to getting hype or some shit
And you can get that by looking for Draft Picks, a la Oilers, Penguins, Blackhawks.
Cammalleri is a huge step sideways for the flames.
re: no heart
Borque epitomized a lack of heart better than any other player on the team. guy had serious, serious motivation problems, and I get a hate on for anyone who takes cheap shots like he did lately. it was like he was a spoiled little kid acting out. Cammi gives us more depth out front, two good goal scoring lines, that is some good shit
now if only we could get our defensemen to score more often… I’m not sure if that is a side effect of the modern NHL or something but those guys just don’t get points like I remember D-men getting in the 90s.
**KOF tonight **anybody? I want to try some stuff out in training mode first but could be down to jam games later
this trade basically means we’re making the playoffs. making the playoffs means the red mile and the red mile means drunken times and girls flashing their boobies. who said anything about a Stanley Cup? i want boobies!!
goooo kalamarii!!!
Cool, listing teams that sucked for 10 years so they could get two top 3 draft picks in consecutive years. Nice strategy? Oilers still aren’t a playoff team this year.
A good example would be Detroit, who builds through scouting and the draft by finding unknown talents low in the draft class. But that’s hard to do for numerous reasons.
Signing Squiddy is a step diagonally, IMO. Both sideways and forwards. Plus it could have a potentially huge upside if the gamble pays off… there’s unlikely to be a serious negative to this deal. Cammalleri is unlikely to produce at least to Bourque standards and it’s unlikely Bourque will flourish in Montreal.
I think the following are key factors to the cammalleri trade:
- Bourque never really panned out (too inconsistent)
- Cammalleri is a popular player in Calgary and performed very well with the flames
- Cammelleri’s contract is up sooner than Bourque’s (2014 vs 2016)
Really I think it’s a big win for Calgary. They got someone who’s demonstrated better offensive skills, who the fans like, and who will be off their books sooner. In terms of a rebuild, they’re in better shape for the long term than they would have been with Bourque. Not that it was a good idea to give up a 2nd round as well.
Yeah man the oilers being in the gutter for years sure helped them big time, being last in the league with all that talent is a pretty bad example
And when all of the young superstars they picked up’s entry level contracts run out and they suddenly need to make 20 million in cap space they’re going to be even more fucked
I guess you’re only a couple years away, hey?
fight, fight, fight, fight, fight!
