C.Viper Trial Mode Thread (Console Version)

That one for sure took me a while, I’m just glad I got that over with, using the d-pad too!

Just finished her trials. But man I gotta say the hardest ones was 2 and 3. 5th was kinda hard but it didn’t take that much insane time.

I like the 4th and last combo. I will be at awe if I see someone pull those off online… Insane man…

I have thrown away a lot of time on hard trials trying to use a stick with a octo/circular gate on my lap using a regular DP motion for cancels. DON’T DO THIS. It is basically impossible, because the full meter screws up my cancels. Instead of getting the cancels I am getting the super since I don’t have a good stop on df.

Maybe tomorrow I will try the df df method.

Trial Hard 3

I’m still having problems when trying to her Trial Hard 3.

Whenever I do :d::lp::df::r::uf::qcf::3p: I always get her super move to come out instead of her ultra. I’m using a pad and using L1 mapped to all punches if that matters.

How do I fix this?

i am having trouble with connecting FA to ex-thunder knuckle, lvl 4 normal trial mode

Sounds like you may be getting negative edge on your :lp:. Try holding it down while you do the rest of the super motion to :3p:?

It doesn’t say it in the description of the challenge, but you need to FA dash cancel, and then input the ex TK as soon as possible. If you do it right, the ex TK will cause crumple stun instead of knocking them airborne (and thereby making your ultra miss).

Seerd thanks, it worked nicely. but now…im on the next combo and…i cannot connect jump heavy kick - burn kick (in air). i can do the motion easily and i do connect it ones a while by luck, but is there a trick on where to high kick the dumbie?

Yep, I am going to get rocked, unless my Okinawan reflexes kick in.

You’re not supposed to connect aerial BK from the HJ. You’re are suppose to HJC from EX seismo to ground BK. After you see the EX seismo hit, input :qcb::ub: + HK to HJC ground burning kick.

Shinobi I think you’re referring to the wrong combo.

I believe the combo he’s referring to is Jump in HK, While still in the air combo into HK burning kick then Ultra. You have to make sure you do the HK burning kick while still in the air when the jump in HK connects. MK and WK burning kicks don’t combo after a jump in.

Yeah I am just realized it, oops.

I misread his one of his earlier posts and assumed he was on level 5 hard. My bad.

I think someone said this somewhere earlier in the thread, but you have to land the HK extremely deep to get the Burning kick to connect. Viper’s knee needs to be around belt level when it connects.

It would be helpful if we had a first post with the tips for each trial.

That’s what I would like to do eventually, but I’m still stuck on Trial Mode Hard 3. :shake:

That combo is so impractical. Hard as balls to do.

Viper’s level 3 should have been her level 5, srsly.

Yea, I just got to hard level 3. I fooled around it it for awhile but couldn’t hit it so I stopped. I can get everything to register except I cant input the Burst Time before I HJ from the c.wp, though I can’t do it consistently yet. I’m sure when i actually hit it dan’s gonna block it. haha.

Oh well I think I’m doing pretty good. I’ve never played a fighting game seriously and I’ve never played on a stick before. It’s been like 2 days of me playing on Sanwa stick and buttons and I’m getting used to it. I can finally hit seismo, HJ, BK consistently now. Fun stuff. Now only if i could get used to fighting against other people and not freaking out when I’m gettin rushed down and pressured and start to not hit my moves. And the damn shoryukens. I eat them every time.

As far is the hard trials go, which one do ya think is the hardest?

Hey guys.

Been lurking for a few years (since GGXX#R on Live died). I have some tips for doing Hard Trial 5 on a regular controller. These might also help a bit for those lucky enough to have an arcade stick, or apply to your strategies on the other trials.

What really changed my success on this one was a few main things:

  • Changing the X button to LP+MP+HP. Since the shoulder buttons aren’t exactly reliable with this strict of execution, I figured mapping all the buttons you need to the face buttons would increase my odds.
  • Use the newly mapped X for all cancels, EX moves and the Ultra.
  • Push Dan up against one corner of the level, walk in to him, and then take a SLIGHT step back. For some reason my success rate with the two HP’s went up 10 fold when I did this.
  • :d::hp: can be done using the newly mapped X (or, LP+MP+HP).

So, basically I simplified the combo to this:

:d:X,:qcb:YX,:d:X,:dp:X,:qcb::ub::hk:,:qcf::qcf:X

Hope this helps. Especially with that first string. It became a matter of connecting the Ultra once I figured out this strategy, and not struggling with the HP cancel. Also, thanks to everyone who’s posted so far, it helped me a lot getting through these (especially trials 3-5).

i can’t even consistently connect c.jp into sjc :\

i wonder if you need to do a straight sjc like you do when you’re chaining seismos (at least that’s the only way i’m able to do it reliably.) if that’s the case i don’t think i’ll be able to tiger knee or 360 it because when i do it that way i’m always sjcancelling to the left or right.

blaaaaaah. at least i’m not the only one i guess…

this combo really seems like one of those ones you should just mash on till it works randomly and shrug your shoulders and go on.

Ugh, Hard trial 2 is killing me, I can’t seems to cancel the TK after a hp, I always come out with a ex tk instead. Aggravating as hell…

just keep trying till you figure out the rhythm. if you’re ex-ing then you might want to try tapping fp twice (or 3+ times, whatever it takes to ensure a non-ex) while you qcb after the c.fp and from that experiment and figure out when you need to press that second button.

I found that after a while i didn’t need the extra taps and by then i was even doing the ex free cancel pretty consistently from just standing.

PS> it sucks trying to practice with viper when people are trying to sleep in the room right next to yours. such a racket just to get what looks like simple shit done on the screen…

I just finished 3 and 4 on Hard. I got three by doing what was posted earlier by buffering part of the ultra into the c.lp, HJ part. It works fairly well, but you gotta input the second half in fast. 4 was fairly easy if you have the HJ, heavy BK part down already, then you can just build the combo outwards from there.

Now trial hard 5, I dunno bout that one. It just looks sick to input in especially the c.fp, heavy tk feint, c.fp part, and the ending part with the HJ canceled BK into burst time. Ridiculous.
