That fifth trial is some dick. I can get to the high jump, but it’s like I choke and don’t do the burning kick.
Some of the previous tips from posters helped with getting the sjc.burning kick more consistently though, so thank you to you dudes.

I had the same problem for a while. Go through the motion slowly and commit it to muscle memory. The entire combo, not just the HJC burning kick. Eventually you’ll get it, just keep practicing.
Finally got past all the normal trials. Wouldn’t have gotten past the third if I hadn’t figured out that :qcf::qcf::hk::hp: is how your supposed to do the third one…what sucks some monster dick is I can’t even get past Hard Trial 1.
^^ eh that’s not how you do that trial. what you’re doing give you forward + HK, and that wont register for the HK in the trial
^ No, just do the two quarter-circles and quickly press HK and LP. It works a lot easier for me.
For those having problems with Viper’s 3rd trial, what I did was pause slightly between s.lk and c.lp. What I tried at first was just getting the super jump to come out with out the ultra. For what ever reason I could not for the life of me get the super jump to come out when the combo involved s.lk. It would come out just doing a c.lp to super jump by it self no problem. Then I tried to pause a little in between the s.lk and c.lp and the super jump came out with no problem. Then I just did the whole combo with that little pause and lo and behold I was able to do it.
Hehe my first post on a new forum in a while
I just wanted to post a thank you to everyone who posted hints in this thread :tup: ! I finally successfully mashed my Viper hard trial 3 to completion. She must be the hardest character execution wise ever!
I’ll summarize my method for anyone else trying, in case it helps someone (PS3 Dualshock3 d-pad). This is not very useful when using a stick, if you own one you can just learn to do it right easier.
The combo: j.HK, s.LK, c.LP, SJC, Ultra
Map :3p: to triangle or something, this makes your mashing a few milliseconds faster than using the left trigger.
I tried analog controller and had some success doing the c.LP,SJC,Ultra but this didn’t work when doing the full combo for me so I stuck with D-Pad.
How to actually pull it off:
First off: cLP, SJC with :d::df::lp::r::uf: (get this 100%)
Second: j.HK, s.LK, c.LP, SJC (use the results from first step, you need to press :d: only after s.LK has already recovered and you’re ready to link :lp:, basically press :d: and :lp: almost simultaneously. )
Thirdly: tack on the final :qcf::3p:. At this point my speed with D-Pad became insufficient, so I did the combo up to doing the c.LP precisely, then from here on out I mashed the :d::df::lp::r::uf::qcf::3p: without any timing or precision. You know you’re on right track when you keep getting accidental super jump, if you aren’t jumping, verify you training in previous steps.
Fourth: Pray to whatever higher powers you believe in between attempts until you pull it off
Now to pull off #4 and #5 :wtf:
I finally finished hard trial 3 after several days
I did it on a sixaxis, I managed to pull it off by just doing the 360 motion for the c.lp sjc into ultra
that method still took me about 30 minutes but it worked
Hard trial three took me 30 straight minutes, but I think I have it down now. Trial four and five took a collective 3 minutes total, because they’re things I do in actual matches anyway. How ridiculous.
I can’t get her 3rd trial to go at all with a 360 controller. I can’t even get the high jump to connect. Is she suppose to jump if I don’t do the ultra fast enough? Help!
the hard 3rd trial is killing me… how am i supposed to do c.lp --> HJC --> Ultra … it never comes out
Tip on hard trail #3
The trick to Viper is speed at the right time. I was stuck on her hard Trail #2 until I realized that. After that #2 and 3 were a breeze (took less than 3mins each to pass) even # 4. For your trouble in #3…do the whole link combo but when its time to do the c.LP you must do a 360 motion (this will be your HJC and QCF x 1 together) and then continue on to do QCF with PPP (cause from the first 360 motion you will be back at down). Below is the motion to use if you are on the left of Dan and he is all the way in the right corner;
Link combo til its time for c.LP > :d::lp::df::r::uf::u::ub::hcf::3p: (the motion must be done very fast)
Hope it helps. I only have her #5 and Abel #5 left to complete all Hard Trials… which I plan to knock out today, I was too sleepy last night to attempt her #5 with any level of concentration.
Funny thing was I went to an event at the local college and one of the OG gamers over there needed help finishing Viper’s trials. He said he would give me 3 bucks if I finished Viper’s 3,4 and 5 trials for him. I didn’t even have my stick with me and was able to do them in like 5 minutes. It should have been faster because I kept tacking an Ultra on at the end of trial 4 (LOL) and I was trying to do close s.HP instead of c.HP for trial 5. I never do c.HP x 2 anymore. I’m all about that close s.HP.
I was surprised that I was able to do Viper’s # 3 trial in like the second try. I guess you just have to have a good stick and know how to cancel. I have a better feeling for when her super jump cancel frames start inbetween attacks so that may have something to do with it. I’m not just mashing the command like I used to and seeing what happens. I’m still doing it pretty fast but I know when Viper is going to enter sj frames and enter in the ultra command around that time.
OMG FINALLY ! So after not being able to play SFIV for like 3 weeks, I finally got the free time today. So I hop in, play some games against a friend of mine and then he goes out for lunch. So I’m sitting there and thinking what now? Oh what the hell, Viper Hard Trial 5 and let’s see how that will go after 3 weeks of not even playing the game. I fucking got it, holy shit when that Ultra landed I jump off my couch and was like: YES YES, fucking YES !!!
Oh I feel so relieved, now I’m trying to implement it into my gameplay but atleast I know what exactly I need to do in order for it to work. Chun’s 5th hard trial is done and now so is Viper’s, that’s all I cared about.
Edit: WTF? Who negative repped me? I never insulted anyone on here. >_<
Don’t worry about the neg rep. Take it as a “welcome to SRK” gesture. You get neg repped for anything especially if you’re not a premium member. Non premmies can’t see the name of the person that’s repping them so people like to give anonymous neg rep and such so they don’t have to deal with an outlash or whatever.
That’s how it is sometimes though. Your mind has a funny way of taking things in after the fact. Like how I’ll have trouble beating someone all day during a casual event before a tournament and then the next day I have them figured out of all a sudden. You’re putting your mind under a stress test when you’re trying to do the trials and sometimes it just needs to take a break and take in all the information. When it rests and gets further into muscle memory…that’s what makes it easier and you just go up and finish the trial the next time you try.
BTW incase any one cares I’m typing this from an internet cafe in the local Kmart. :lol: Waiting on my friend and don’t have much else to do.
EDIT: Kmart internet is lame. Can’t go on the main forum page because it contains the word “SECKS” LOL.
Anyone got any tips for hard trial 2? It’s been kicking my ass since like release day. Does it HAVE to be a TK cancel? Can it be an EX TK cancel?
it has to be an hp TK cancel.
I posted up the easiest way to do it a while back. Just practice the motions slowly and work your way faster and youll get it easy I promise. I started doing it like this and like 5 minutes later I passed it. Now Hard #3, THATS a bitch.
Yeah Jin you’re right, sometimes when I keep trying a combo for hours and it won’t work I tend to eventually take a break. Then when I come back some thing happens and I get it done really quick. It’s quite interesting, to be honest I didn’t see myself ever getting Trial #5 done with Viper, for some reason I always thought that I just wouldn’t be able to grasp the whole thing. I guess a stressless break was all I needed.
Haha at SECKS being the reason you can’t see the main page, that’s hilarious.
Hard Trial 3
Finally did this on the PS3 control pad. I imagine using the D-pad itself is nearly impossible for the average player. I had much more luck using the analog stick (L3 button)
PART1
JUMP :hk: — Slight Pause — :lk: — Slight Pause (…and reseting my mind at this point helped)
PART2
:d::lp::df::r::qcf::uf::3p:
OR
:d::lp::df::r::qcf::uf::u::3p:
The second part needs to be smooth but relatively quick, and using the L3 analog stick on PS3 controller is much easier. I was always getting the super instead of ultra when using the D-pad for whatever reason. Hope this helps
The main reason you were getting supers on the pad was probably due to how dpads have trouble recongnizing diagonal inputs. Dpads just aren’t made for SF like they used to. Which is why it’s probably more plausible to use the analog stick for the trial since there’s a higher chance of the game reading the uf input for the cancel.
