C.Viper Trial Mode Thread (Console Version)

I finally pulled off C.V.'s #5 and I’m willing to share my uberleet secrets.

The Bokchoy Method:

Step #1: I did it on pad, so I had to reconfig buttons:
Square (aka “X”) = HP
Triangle (aka “Y”) = LP+MP+HP
All else default.

Step #2: Turn your TV’s sound to mute. This is crucial for Step #3 and even more crucial to keeping your sanity.

Step #3: The first four inputs is this:
d+PPP, QCB+HP, d+PPP, d+PPP
or for PS3
d+Triangle, QCB+Square, d+Triangle, d+Triangle
or for X360:
d+Y, QCB+X, d+Y, d+Y

This works because PPP comes out as HP if you don’t do a motion that’s associated with it. The resulting output is:
c.HP, HP Thunder Knuckle, cancel, c.HP
To make matters easier, the entire four inputs is a constant tempo with each input about 1/4 of a second apart.

Master the fuck out of this. Don’t look at your TV, stare at your controller. Listen to your controller. FEEL YOUR CONTROLLER! Look up only to see if you’re doing it right. Remember, each the four inputs are equally far apart. TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP. Repeat until you can reliably do it.

Step #4:

Put Step #3 aside. Now you’re practicing the second half:
EX Seismic Hammer xx HJC xx HK Burning Kick
The command:
DP+PPP, Reverse Tiger Knee HK
The trick
Do the the Tiger Knee very, very slowly. Just fast enough for the game to accept the QCB motion and no faster. Start when the TK hits, and let it flow. The motion should be very deliberate and flowing and should feel very smooth and almost sexual. The end result is a perfect EX Seismo into GROUND HK Burning Kick. Practice it.

The Ultra should be very easy to juggle. If you’ve made it this far, this is not a problem.

Step #5:

You have two halves. Now put it together!
The first half is the four inputs. The second half starts with an EX Seismo as the fifth input. The good news: The fifth input also matches the same tempo of the first four inputs. The bad news: Emergency Combination will make you want to throw your PS3 through the wall.

The end combo:
-Five equidistant taps: d+PPP, QCB+HP, d+PPP, d+PPP, DP+PPP.
-A slow, smooth reverse Tiger Knee with HK
-Ultra

Step #6:

Congrats you beat the game. Hurrah.

Edit: Goddammit, Trickyicky basically already posted what I did. :frowning:

Cheers for that. Helped a bit. But I just realised what I was doing wrong. You need to do a level 3 FA. I was always doing level 2s. Sweet almost completed all the Easy ones. Lol. All with the 360 controller too!!

Ugh, well after about an hour to hour and half of trying to do Viper’s 2nd hard trial I finally got the timing for the c.hp hp.tk feint down semi consistantly, but I can’t seem to get the burst time off fast enough after the feint. I only did it once while I was practicing without the FADC part.

LOL, I just loaded it up to try this shit (never did vipers trials) and did lvl2 hard in 2 tries
dodges hate/tomatoes

EDIT: 3 4 and 5 are just stupid ways of normally good combos o.O

3 is the only one that’s absolutely retarded, imo.

The real irony of this is that in one of her win poses she says, “Training? Practice? These concepts are of no use to me.” when obviously look at where the hell we are, we got practice alot.

Anyways just started the trials this morning and the HK>super had me ready to play PunchOut on some babies:grrr: but i found out why the buffer doesn’t work. essentailly when you buffer you are going to do F+HK not just HK and the apparently are equal so it wont count. the method Kunai gave is pretty solid it just take a second to actually figure out, for me anyways, when to hit that punch.

Story wise all of C.Viper specials and combos are second nature or are activated through brain sensor technology.

For the HK to super…you just stand up right next to the opponent and hit HK and then finish the super as soon as the first kick hits the opponent. You don’t need to hit f+HK since the game automatically does that kick for you when you are right next to the opponent. You just have to make sure you have the entire super motion finished by the time the first kick hits the opponent. If the second kick hits you did it too late. Useless combo but it’s really just a timing practice combo.

There’s a shortcut that’ll get that to work almost every time for you. If you’re doing each command one after the other…there’s no way you can get it to work unless you have hands of god. You have to literally enter the input for the TK Feint and the Ultra at almost exactly the same point in time. The only way to do that is to buffer one command into the other. Hyperhal and I explained it in the thread earlier. I’ll re explain if needed but I’m just letting you know that you’ll never do it ever doing each command one at a time. That’s the main reason everyone’s pulling their hair out over that combo. They don’t understand the buffering required to get it to work.

I’m on her Hard Trial 4 right now. What’s the trick to this registering? I’ve pulled it off but the Heavy BK isn’t registering for the combo :shake:

What is the deal with that? Anybody else experience this?

Yeah, I ran into that issue too. You have to do it the D, DB, B, (UB, U, UF) + K way to get the ground version. I’m having a hard time getting it to come out consistantly though.

So you’re saying that I have to do the high jump backwards?

After the Burning Kick motion you can go UB, U, or UF to HJC then K. Doesn’t have to be UB, but that seems to be easiest.

Thank you very much for this DevilJin, I went back read your write up and I did it after about 5 minute of messing around. Big relief I didn’t know if I was ever gonna do it at the rate I was going.

Luckily I now get to work on her even harder #3

For hard trial 3, to let myself focus on inputting accurately and swiftly, I switched my MP button with 3 Punches in one. This helped me a whole lot, but I don’t know if it will help anyone else. I’d say give it a try though, it’s not a practical combo to begin with so you don’t have to worry about getting it consistently in a match or anything. I got it the same day I made this button config switch.

I can do all the parts to #3 separately I just need to put it all together now, the hardest part is obviously the c.lp hjc ultra and I can do that.

Well, I was stuck on the HK to QFC X2 +P for the longest time and just out of sheer luck I pulled it off. I was able to finish the rest of the trial level thank god…

Seriously… been mashing #3 for 3 hours straight. I can do c.lp -> ultra super easily and yet I have no succeeded the combo. I give up on this shit due to suicidal tendencies.
I bet Ono is laughing his fucking ass off.

i registered cause i need some help =[

this is the first time ive ever really put any effort into a fighting game of this style. i played SF2HD for a little while, but never seriously and im damn good at super smash bros including some highly technical stuff in melee. im approaching pro levels in FPS games…but this game…these fucking trials…RAAAAAAA!!!

i cant beat hard trial ONE :mad::mad: any tips? if i can just get one and two done, id be content! i dont think ill ever be that great at these games, i just want to have fun and i want the title from finishing number 2 (lol)

im also TERRIBLE at RTS games…like wtf happened there in my brain? turn based, im amazing…real time? i fall to pieces!

So, after musing through the Viper section for the past few weeks, I finally decided to give Viper’s Hard Trial #3 a serious try last night…but…NO WAY IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN!

So today I got home and tried it…I got it in like 3 tries. Lol, I must have been too tired last night. It felt so good. #4 was a breeze and now I’m on #5…:bluu:

That HJC BK is gonna be the death of me.

Anyhow, just wanna say thanks to all those helpful posts. I’d never have made it to #5 without you guys

You need to hit the c.lk as you’re inputting the super jump. How I do it is I start by going down, hitting light kick, and continuing to df, f, uf in one fluid motion. That gives you the c.lk super jump cancel. Add a quarter circle to that and hit all three punches and you should have your ultra coming out while still on the ground from the SJC.

In one of the other threads (moveset and attributes?) there is a section about high jump cancelling a crouching medium kick into ultra, same idea applies to the crouching light kick and I’m sure the discussion in that thread can explain it in much clearer terms than I just did.

Thanks going out to Crowley on the first page, your info should help me to get the last trial completed.

And what a bitch that last trial is, thats how I know Im not going to main Viper
