C.Viper Q&A: Quick questions here please!

Is there a quick way to tell if I am going to be able to land a 2nd FP TK after hitting a first one?

If your opponent is still above your neck after you land and is within almost two character lengths (depending on how high they still are).

Thanks dude, and cheers for the speedy response. That was my first post here I’m brand new to shoryuken; looks like a cool place.

You can fit a late one in, but you have to be pretty much touching your falling opponent.

For HP.seismo, I’d usually do the motion, but let c.viper take a step forward, then press HP. The seismo should reach your opponent.

By the way. Regarding the “Do not use Seismos on wakeups if your opponent has an ultra that will reach you from whatever range you’re using it from”. Viper’s Ultra will knock out GEN’s Ultra and Able’s Ultra is you aren’t too close. I did it three times to my buddies pretty good Abel.

I’m gonna post this in the match-up thread.

I have seen “FFF” a lot in reading but don’t know what it is. What does this notation mean?

Fierce, thunder knuckle Feint, Fierce

Fierce Feint Fierce

Also as just a random frustration rant, I freaking hate auto-correction at the level they got it right now. I had a Ryu in the corner with almost no health and did Vipers overhead just as he was waking up to switch sides on the guy and his Ultra seriously auto-corrects the moment the majority of Vipers body was on his opposite side, her feet weren’t even on the ground yet…

thank you capcom for auto correction rofl i get people doing overheads on me and if its not meaty enough i can get my ultra off

Can Gief SPD Viper out of her TK? I’ve never seen a human player do it but when I play against the CPU sometimes, I’ll throw out a LP/MP TK and find myself getting grabbed out of it. I don’t believe Gief is getting me during start up either, though he may be grabbing me a frame or so before the first actually comes out? It’s become irritating.

Considering that Viper can get grabbed out of her TK universally, I’m 100% positive that Viper can be SPD’d out of her TK.

Ah, I see. Thanks for that info. I don’t think I’ve had it happen to me outside of CPU Gief.

JP/SP TK’s have 14 and 16 frame start up. FP TK has a 7 frame start up which is what makes it such a lousy wake up move. It can be thrown by everyone and since Gief’s SPD is 1 frame less then standard throws you can definetely be SPD’d in any TK starting frames. Lariat also comes out in 4 frames so he can stuff your TK or any jump option to mix it up. Its usually best to keep your distance on Gief. Its suicide imo to try and pressure Gief, they can just mash lariat and it will easily cut through c.fk/c.sp x jp/sp TK.

Sooooo… Feint patterns… What do you guys think? Run away with diffrent feint patterns to accomidate your opponets playstyle, to score the kd or the ch or whatever. Yes, no, old shit?

I’ve always said Viper is the best character in the game, when she is used against the best players. Imo, using feints against scrub~mediocre players will yield very little reward. They aren’t going to stop doing what they plan to do just because your putting a little pressure on them or doing some fancy click move. Viper needs to play against opponents that react to things in order to effectively use feints.

As far as patterns go, do you mean feinting during pressure or just random feinting to bait reactions?

Vs scrubs there’s no point in feint patterns unless your feeling them out from a far. Most likely they won’t learn nor care about what your doing and you will get hit by random shit unless you can predict what they will do. But vs good players I think this could be useful. Btw I mean feint patterns for baiting and a couple randoms during pressure, a smart player will block until a hole is found if you fake your holes and continue to pressure this could net you some big stun later imo. Dunno though what do you guys think?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but about how long does a buffered input last in SF4? I can only play at my friend’s place, so I can’t do much testing on my own. Mostly I want to know if I can quickly do 214, 29, delay, kick to do a tk burning kick. If so, how fast does it have to be? Using 2963214+kick is kind of a pain when I don’t have a stick.

Just do 29, 214 kick. I have a custom Sanwa stick and that’s still the motion I use to tk/sj burn kick. Lazy man’s method. Just super jump forward then immediately burn kick right before Viper takes to the air. You could try the reverse method in training mode to see if it works but 29, 214 (d,uf,qcb+K) works for me.

Ive had great success with 214, 96 kick. Yes is good.

I figured that out cause to do a regular tiger knee anything in this game you would do 21474, so i took the last two and swapped them over. It works well. Much better than 214, 9 kick, and

WAYYYY better than 29 214 kick. You call it the lazy man method, I call it the holy shit my hands dont go that fast method. then again youve been playing with a stick since before 02 im guessing. Ive been playing with a stick since before 02 weeks ago.

There’s a difference between the two. The higher one beats uppercuts in the face clean when the flames are out.

The HJC instant one, you have to go behind them to beat it. Dashio uses the instant one a lot.
