n44by: Sorry I didn’t add your information until now, but now it’s listed in the first set of posts in this thread. Thank you for taking the time to help.
For Seismo Hammer > Thunder Knuckle, I usually do this after Seismo:
:qcb::ub::u::uf: + :mp:
Reason why is because I kept getting High Jumps backwards.
I’m having alot of trouble doing the instant HJ BK motion, i get it sometimes but nowhere near consistent enough. Is there any trick to the input ? Like pressing :uf: right before Kick? Anything would be helpful
I also have an hori 2 SE, could that really be my problem? lol
today i went nearly 8 straight hours in training mode doing FFF. I started last night totally lost
as of this post, i can nail FFF from the right side of the screen a good 75% of the time (w/o full super meter…or else i’ll get a super cancel off the second fierce punch) and 60% or so of the time from the left. But it still feels weird from the left as opposed to how natural it feels from the right
nice keep at it, im in training mode about 3hours a day usually an hour at a time, and matches inbetween i feel my FFF is on point but has room for improvement i always use it in matches no problem, i have the same problem with the super cancel though but i fixed that today.
one tip i have though, is maybe you should practice with full super meter, i do this because i feel that it makes me more precise so that i dont throw out other EX attacks.
also whats a guy got to do around here to get some viper on viper action, should we make a challenge thread so we can call each other out so we know who gots the beastly vipers and who is just solid? ive put in the time and i feel my viper is def above average im sure some people i have played will agree, but i want to keep going and am willing to take a beat down.
I always train with super meter, otherwise I have to do more damage to build up enough meter to rock out FFF. I don’t think I ever had problems with accidentally doing a super during FFF.
Ive just been trying crazy random stuff and trying to find anything that might be of some use. This is VERY specific, but Ive found if you jump forward and instantly hit light kick to where you hit them as you are still moving upward, then do a m.bk you can quickly cross them up. Ill have to toy with it some more to see if its char. specific.
I’ve been playing her since late April and I’m doing soooo poorly I want to break my stick in half! For starters I haven’t won even 1 f***ing game online. EVEN if I could read the other dude as a damn picture book. I know that it is my execution that is severely lacking… but I just can’t do it even after months of training!.. I’m starting to think that I am execution retarded.
FYI I use a TE stick and use the wine glass hold.
Off The Ground Towards Burning Kick
Works maybe once every 20 tries out of dumb luck… usually I just get a SJ straight up or forward SJ but no BK.
Jumps back every time when I tries this.
Seismo Hammer (Reg or EX) Into Strong Thunder Knuckle
Works about 30% of the time… still not good enough.
Seismo Hammer (Reg or EX) into Aerial Burning Kick
Like the regular SJC works maybe once every 20 times out of luck. Usually she just SJ straight up or forward SJ but no BK.
This always results in a jumpback.
The burning kick comes out too late and so it misses…
Fierce into Fierce TK Feint into cr. FierceFFF
This is the hardest… I do it maybe once every 30 times out of dumb luck. It always result in hp.TK coming out due to being too slow or ex.TK for being too fast. I can’t get the timing right.
well if your set on viper you gotta put in the time, learning all her combos and gimmicks is the hardest and most time consuming part, id say if you keep at it in another month you will have all her stuff almost down just got to know how to use it. you have all info on what to do u just got to adjust your timing and improve your execution. after you get over this first hump its very fun to play her and learn the matchups.
The thing is that I feel that I haven’t improved anything during the last month. At least in the beginning I felt that I learned something after a few hours in training mode or after every loss. But now I just feel that I’m stuck. I know that it is my execution that is the main problem but it is not improving. I feel really embarrassed that I can’t even do SJC BK when I used to play at a competitive level (at least in my shitty country) in CvS2 back in the days… I feel I need someone sitting next to me and teach blah…
yea viper can break ppl sometimes, i got to that point also where i felt i wasnt improving but it happens gradually over time, you just got to stick with it even when you want to quit and eventually your muscle memory will get used to her combos, its all about training your hands, i took a break for 1 day and half of today from sf4 cuz i felt like my execution was actually getting worst. i think its very possible to over train yourself when trying to learn something in this game, and sometimes the mind just needs a day to reboot fresh with all the data you put into it.
Update on this guys, I did it in a match and it worked. Against tall characters such as sagat and geif its really easy, impossible against short characters (honda, blanka) and medium against peeps like ryu akuma ken etc.
Anyway first time I really tried it, it worked like a charm. I was against a Sagat, he took the first hit, then I super quickly crossed him up with the m.bk in the air. Its not a combo of course but its very sneaky and stylish looking. And after all style is what matters most! lol. When going against characters about the same height as ryu, you want to be about one step away from the character when you do it. Tall characters you can be point blank or maybe a step and a half away and still get it.
We all know you can get thrown out of vipers FP knuckle (up knuckle) so I was testing some stuff out against able… after he does f+mk almost every abel does one of two things, either dash throw or dash some normal of some sort to try and guess your jump away from the grab.
Now after reading UltraDs really good zangief thread I decided to see if I could jump cancel into her FP knuckle to give it throw invulnerability, and wasn’t having any luck… but i noticed something weird, if I do a reversal knuckle after the f+mk I would always get hit by the throw, but if I waited a sec and did knuckle I wouldn’t get thrown… If I just block the mk I also get thrown just to be clear on this point… I really wonder why this happens, if anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated, but at least so far the moral of the story is, against abel, do a hp knuckle later than you would and it will beat out both throw and strike, of course if you have meter you can do this with ex seismo, but sometimes dp isn’t as easy as just doing qcb+hp.
Ninja edit: actually ex seismo doesn’t beat him doing fp after the kick… so qcb+hp late is a bit better of an answer.
Hm. SRK Wiki says HP Knuckle is hit-invincible through the first 6 frames. It doesn’t state what frame the move is considered airborne though.
What I’m guessing though is, since Abel is +4 on hit of the fMK that he’s whiffing grab when he does it too early and you’re still in hit stun? This is also why he can sHP you, which will actually link if he times it right albeit it’s a 1-framer. And it’s a lot of the reason you see Abel’s Tornado throw after fMK dash, because the startup is 5 frames meaning you can never whiff due to hit stun.
No it can’t be that, since I recorded the training dummy doing it and when I blocked the f+mk he still threw me, if I reversal knuckled he threw me. If I waited a little bit past reversal to knuckle he didn’t throw me.
