Thanks for creating such a well detailed guide on Viper.
My experiences with Viper have been minimum. The only thing that stands out is how much she owns me whenever I play against her. Anyway, that’s one of the reasons why I’m interested in learning her now. Of course, making the transition from Cammy/Guile to Viper is likely going to be…pretty difficult for me. She has so many tools. When I fight against a good Viper or watch her in action, I find myself astonished. Not sure if I can really use her effectively, since I suck at completing a few of her last trials and not as quick with her Feint, but that’s what training’s for.
Well, it’s worth a try at least. Thanks again for the great guide.
Is there a place I can find help for viper’s option-selects? I rarely use them mainly because I have nearly no knowledge of them and knowing they exist doesn’t help me learn them.
I didn’t really make a section for option selects because sadly as a whole most of them are pretty awful and don’t really work or leave u at an advantage. For instance, vs m bison, on jump-ins you can OS fp tk to beat ex psycho, but it trades…so yeah. I listed the ones i feel are very useful under the character specific things, sweep is obvious for the most part, usually ur best option, ppl want to get away. Other than that check under sim, rose, cody are a few
since you inquired, i’ve been experimenting more with OS, i’ve got a few new ones that i’ll share when i get around to writing them up, good ones for bison and blanka especially.
I’ll add them to the character specific stuff, but yeah, in the corner vs bison, after forward throw, dash twice, neutral jump with FP or RH and OS superjump back, it catches EX psycho crusher perfectly, catechs the tail end for a FFF. Against blanka if he’s cornered do a meaty st lk, os the 2nd st lk with mk ( so st lk, st lk + st mk) the 1st meaty short will beat electricity on wakeup, the OS st mk will beat rainbow ball, and if he does ex up ball, you can ultra, FFF or w/e on hit. For midscreen vs blanka, do st lk to st lk(OS cr RH), its a real block string and beats backdash or hop, can’t os ex rainbow midscreen cause the pushback on st lk is too much.
Hope these help, i’m gonna continue trying to find what I can, might have another good one soon vs bison if I can perfect it. This stuff might not be new, but its new to me, so I thought I’d share.
sorry if this is jumbled, its broken down a little more in the character specific stuff.
I dont know if this was ever mentioned but against bison if you f-throw him dash forward twice and do a meaty jump in with fierce OS rh.BK ex psycho crusher will whiff and you can seismo him also backward teleport gets blown up.
if he does headstomp, it will whiff as well (sometimes it hits if you space it incorrectly) , however he will more or less recover at the same time as you and be close enough to stick out a random rh and clip you for trying to poke. with the ex pc you are far enough to try and seismo but it is not a punish. the beauty is that if you land the Fierce you get a FFF > whatever, but if he teleport back you hit and anything else your safe. Also if he blocks and he dosent have meter you can keep him guessing by doing instant BK cross up, which will hit him if hes mashing crouchtech and hit him if he ex pc. its really good if you use these two techniques together in order to attack and wait his meter out.
Ok can someone also explain about the option select thing … because im now confused, i hear that wolf and latif uses her option slects all the time esp latif and n here people say there useless whats up with that ??? thnks in advance to who ever can answer my questions
You don’t super jump cancel anything after a thunder knuckle feint. I’m assuming you just mean the execution of a cross-up burn kick after a TK feint for a mix-up? The burn kick has to come out really close to the ground. Basically, you always “tiger-knee” BK with this input: :d::uf::f::df::qcb::hk:.
As for option selects. Every character has useful option selects such as: the universal options selects (e.g. crouch teching). Viper specifically has very specific option-selects for certain match-ups and not even all the time during the match-up. A good OS to know is short/ex-tk. It can punish a bad backdash or teleport.
ok thanks for putting input … so to be clear i do the feint then put the sj bk inputs in not the insta burn kick right… and im ging to try this OS because i really dont use ne but i guess its a good tyme to start
