Lol my bad I had no idea we had another Viper in Texas, I thought you were in like So Cal or in the North East or something where most of the people with really good execution tend to be. They had name tags? But I was there with 3 of my other Denton teammates we all did pretty bad though. Do you go to tournaments often because I don’t think you were at Bar Fights. That was December-ish.
It was my first tournament. I was very disappointed in my play. I should have done a lot better. Definitely not my best. Still killing myself over it.
But yeah it was about an hour away from me so I thought what the hell. I was upset when the tournament for Marvel started 3 hours late. I would have joined other tournaments going on but I haven’t played SF4 competitively since AE came out. And I didn’t play MK KoF or Thirdstrike competitively so I knew I would get stomped lol.
As soon as I got home i jumped in training mode and started working out new tech with Viper/Strider. I had an accident in casuals that turned into something amazing and I needed to fool around with it more and I figured out something great.
Can u do the stair loop from normal jump or do u have to super jump? thanks.
you can do one rep from normal jump off a seismo and heavy TK cancel but its not recommended. You have much more hit stun if you do a SJ.
- its impossible to loop two reps from a normal jump since the properties of jS make them fall down quickly on a normal jump.
So, um… I’m curios. What combo are you using off a Focus Crumple?
H.BK land MHS L.Seismo IAD jHS land MHS sj jMH dj jMHS does just under 500k
IIRC, you dont like using the first hit of S but I havent been able to connect it without that
Messing with Zero/Viper just for shits and giggles atm, doesn’t look like the OP’s been updated since vanilla I’ve always just done the box loop combo and inadvertedly figured out the TK cancel with S yesterday so naturally I’ve chucked that in there before jump loop, but is there anything else that carries further into the corner?
Mainly cos DHCing into Lightning Loop nets an extra 300-400K after :qcb:+:atk::atk:
In the corner (which is usually where I land it) Viper can do a (excuse my terrible combo notation)
M,H, 234M~S, M, H, 234L~S, M, H, S into BnB
I’ll usually do one rep of M, H, 234M~S as the timing can be somewhat tight for the launcher to hit after the second rep. The second rep is done with a L since the L version brings them down a bit lower to the ground for the launcher to more reliably hit
Check out the video gottnoskill made viper w/ assists he uses hiryu to relaunch
Hi i’m not sure if this is the right place to post this (i’m really new to the forums) but I’m having a bit of trouble doing the box dash look consistently, especially on smaller characters like Rocket Raccoon.
I could do the box dash loop consistently in Vanilla Often my J.C will connect, but my J.S will whiff, but sometimes the J.C will whiff. If anyone could give me some advice I would be really grateful. I’m fairly newish to the game but I really want to level up my game cause i suck so bad right now :(. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!
one bad habit I had with her when i started was that I wasn’t superjump canceling and it would wiff.
Seismo changed in the transition from Vanilla to Ultimate. It hits the opponent higher into the air now when you hit them with it. That being said, if you dash ASAP after the SJC like you were supposed to in Vanilla, Viper’s massive j.C hitbox will hit, but her average sized j.S hitbox will whiff. That being said, you have two options:
-
Delay your airdash slightly, so it occurs higher up into the air. That way, you will match their height more evenly and be able to land both j.C and j.S.
-
Instead of j.CS after the airdash, do a Burn Kick feint after the first j.C to bring you to the right height: j.C xxxx H.BK~S > j.CS. This method is harder, but has the added benefit of doing more damage earlier in the combo, which is always good.
Thanks for the reply! Yeh I make sure to superjump cancel the seismo’s cause I have heard that doing a regurlar jump doesnt work anymore
Thanks for answering so quickly!! I can do burn kick feints pretty consistently so I’ll give method 2 a try. Also, should I be trying to hit the J.C after the airdash as soon as possible, or do I need to delay it slightly? Sorry to ask so many questions but I really want to get the box loop down.
Thank you both for the help
You don’t have to delay it, but you don’t have to rush it either. I’ve never had a combo with viper that had more than one TK at the start, so I don’t know if this is true for those TK fiends among us, but for me the window is quite large, enough so that dropping that part of the combo is rare (and when I do it’s usually because I cancel my SJ into a dash too low or too high).
And no problem.
I forgot what it feels like to actually have to practice combo’s everyday in order to be able to do it constantly because of SF4 and Vanilla Marvel. Shit feels weird having to practice the stair-case and rapid seismo’s everyday.
Sorry for my ignorance and/or inability to scour through the thread efficiently, but I notice a lot of emphasis on relaunches or enders or lead-ins… but what’s is Viper’s BnB? (Or at least, the one that you use…?) I can’t find what is currently the best BnB out there.
That being said, what is the box loop? And are there videos of some loops/BnB’s out there?
Thank you so much!
The basic Viper BnB is as follows:
Key:
TK = Thunder Knuckle
BK = Burn kick
Sei = Seismo
*Italics *= Optional. Makes the combo easier execution wise, and may scale damage more.
Underlines = This is the box loop.
**Bold **= Optional. Adds more damage to the combo, but may whiff due to hitstun decay/cause hitstun decay that will prevent later bits of the combo.
(starter) > M.TK ~ S > MH*S(1) *> L.Sei xx.SJC.xx Air dash > j.HS > MHS > j.MMH xx.DoubleJump.xx MHS > (If you had a relaunch with assist it would go here, along with the hits from the actual launch) > (Ender with assist would go here) > L.Sei xxxx BurstTime
Anyways, I’ll explain box loop better. You’re basically just hitting them into the air with the L Seismo, following them up by Super Jump canceling it, matching their height, then Air Dashing at that height to meet with them, hitting them with j.HS, and then landing and catching them before they hit the ground. It’s called a loop because technically you can do it twice, but there are other ways to do more damage, and it scales the combo too much. It would also make relaunches impossible due to Hitstun decay, so we tend to only do one rep.
I can’t do the j.H, qcb+L~S, j.H loop in my combos to save my life with Viper. I can’t get the timing right after the first BK cancel. What am I doing wrong? I
At which part of the combo do you want to do it, and how exactly? After seismo, or h.tk feint on hit? Do you superjump or normal jump?
I can’t do it after a sj. Air dash or when I do a normal jump after canceling a H.T. It’s just the timing of the BK cancel after the j.H that I’m having problems with. I can never connect a second J.H after the first BK cancel
