C.viper Arcade / DLC changes SSF4

Imagine Viper’s Seismo’s combined with Captain Corridor…

A joke from a friend of mine said that if Viper is in MVC3 FFF should be renamed to Fierce Fly Fierce.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing what Viper will be like in MVC3. They are going to have to make her specials way crazier to fit in with the MVC3 system.

All these Captain Commando references make me wish Capcom had gone a different way with her new alternate costume. lol

Viper needs to upgrade her power suit and get some flamethrowers mounted for a nice full screen projectile. =p

She has Captain Kick, Captain Corridor (hit 1 of U1), Captain Storm(U2, modified) already.
Why not just give her Captain Fire? >_>

MVC3 could so some justice to Viper’s intended play style. I want 8 way dashes, Seismo’s being corridors, Corridor assist, and fly/unfly shit.

best buff ever, man all i wanted was a c.mk hitbox fix…

everyone else had tons of buffs and nerfs to change up their character…all we got was u2? lol

actually cammy is gonna be insane now. outside of meter building u rarely see sako do instant dive kicks, its usually delayed…so i wonder if it will even affect players like sako? all her normals are buffed now too?

ryu got some pretty bad nerfs, c.mk is his baby, and escape tatsu is decent. but has some interesting buffs too. I wonder how many frmaes is c.mk losing? if its just 1, it doesnt seem like any buffs.

Rog will just stick with c.lp on us, dont need standing. lol

ok so the hitbox on the ultra is better i guess so maybe we can cross up with it now…still not a good enough reason to use it over ultra1

I personally am extremely happy about the Viper changes you need to look at the big picture shes staying exactly the same shes not a bad character the problem is other characters are too good and from the looks of it the nerf hammer is gonna hit everyone whos too good right now

From what I saw already her match up vs ryu, balrog, and cammy is gonna be way better she already got buffed lol

I find from these sort of reports some things just go under the radar unless you’re looking for the change, so I still have buff hopes. I’m more for buffs on everyone to varying degree as opposed to the nerf crap, I play lots of characters and it isn’t fun when they continually make things worse for everyone.

I would like the frame advantage of Thunder knuckle on hit back. I miss the CH mp thunder knuckle, cr.mp xx mp thunder knuckle combo since that was my trademark stun combo. It’s not vital, but it’s my personal thing I want back.

In fact I wish they made life easier for character that have high stun potential. It’s so weak that when you stun someone that their stun meter increases and any dizzy followups you do inflict zero stun.

I love playing Viper as a stun character but Capcom seem so afraid about people getting pissed about losing to the same shit all the time that they feel like they have to give every character those family therapy foam hammers.

Man, remember the sf2 stun system? Two fireballs = dizzy, that’ll teach anyone to be a good player.

I regularly play arcade SFIV.

I read the frame advantage on Medium thunder knuckle on hit was +1 now instead of +3 which said to me that it was no longer possible although I wasn’t certain how many +frames counterhit actually gave in Super. My apologies. I didn’t mean to troll you.

But the rest of my post still stands and I still wish it was easier to perform the simpler things. The changed frame advantages on knuckle wasn’t necessary in my opinion.

Honestly I believe the revenge system works against viper rather then help her. But since thats not changing I agrre with you guys old flame kicks back and better pokes. Leave everything else the same. Matter of fact give U2 a bit more damage…You have less ways to combo into unlike U1 so buff it up and make it useful IMHO. Thoughts?

I kinda disagree about Revenge system working against Viper because she can land her ultra off so many things despite taking heavy damage from others. My main was Dictator and my second character was Claw and you literally had to forget about your own revenge gauge sometimes because their ultra combos were significantly harder to land.

I honestly think U2 was intended as the newbie/showman ultra but it doesn’t make much sense that it does so little damage compared to the highly combo-able U1. How fast is the startup? The fact it has to be done in the air implies it should be damn quick.

2 frames tighter is still so bad but. The point about that part of my post was how unnecessary the frame drop on the grounded Thunder Knuckle was, especially after taking 2 frames away from the burning kicks (And doubling the -frames on EX?). Moves with such startup should have retained their original quality.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I’m aware they didn’t change the frames on block for TK while they did change the frames on BK on block.

whats the frame data on forward RH, I haven’t seen anyone using at all, n I think it has it’s good uses but i’m not sure of when it’s punishable on block etc…

Its safe on block but max range 2nd hit often whiffs makign it unsafe.

In SFIV arcade, f+HK was 12 frame startup and -2/+3

I can only guess that in Super it’s the same. I’ve seen some players use it because it’s range is better than some normals and it has a little lower body invincibility.

Most are normal nerfs.
C.mk nerf will be great for vipers.
Wonder if s.hk will see more play now during viper’s wakeup, that shit is gdlk.

Overall I’d like to say this will be better for Viper, even if he can mash jab.

Rog: (= Viper)
I think it’ll be similar matchup. All blked headbutts gets FFF’d anyways.
Though s.mp might change him a bit since it forces standing and also special cancellable.

Cammy: (??) (+Viper if she cant do delayed strike) (-viper if she can do delayed strikes)

normal buffs. Her normals are already decent, now with this, she can compete footsies even better. Given more frame adv and less recov time.

Spike less distance is good, but ill assume good cammys wont wrecklessly throw out spikes.

I am really realy wondering how low can you do the CS’s. Cuz, instant strikes werent really that crucial to advanced cammy gameplay. She can build meter yes, but paying attention to sako’s cammy, shes filled with delayed strikes, not instant strikes. I wonder if the height is restricted that delayed ones cant even be done. If thats the cuz its pretty big nerf. But if she still can do delayed strikes then shes more scarier than before.

Viper already has trouble on guy, and now even buffed?
I think flash went 0-5 against combofiend? and Krone went 4-5 then he ran it back.

Dear god, all these normal buffs.
I guess punishing his dp is great, but is more damaging.
Ex tatsu is like bk now. but still hard to block especially the way momochi was using ken.
Viper had trouble with his normals, not so much his recovery of dp’s…now it’ll be even harder when he gets in.

Vega(= or slight + for Viper)
I dont get why they fix hit boxes, changes recovery speed and startups but not viper’s c.mk?
Aside from c.mk, he mostly received a nerf, cosmic, U2. Less damage from normals.

Rufus: (+Viper)
Finally, U2 is less dmamaging, ex messiah more nerf.it will be a hard match still

Fei: (-Viper)
big bufs to normals, +6? thats insane.
less recovery on rekka, faster startup on normal and more frame adv
only HK chicken wing lost invince. but im assuming other versions and ex still has? Also chicken wings can be OS’d…so…
His normal and cornering kills viper. now he will do so even more.

I dont see too much change.
Depends on how the fireball changes things. being combod to pinwheel is good though. faster walk is good, and FA hitbox imporived is good too.

Good cody’s can give vipers a hard time, with the slides and the jabs, now a 3f c.lk??
his wakeup is pretty free, but, his CH and throw games are decent.
He has better juggle now. And fixed ex Criminal

Honda (+Viper)
So honda is a bit weaker, and headbutt cant AA…
thats good…but hes still a hard matchup…his neutral hp, and his normals…
Lets hope this is a 6.5-3.5 now.

Gouken (-Viper)

Huge normal buff, and more frame adv, special moves are changed too?
He just seems like a new character now…
He seems stronger but will have to see?

Rose (+viper)
Slight super nerf…
ultra nerf, which is great…howwever her normals are still annoying to deal with…

Having normal buffs will obviosuly be harder for viper to fight…
i mean im sure ibukis normal were already better than vipers…now its even better…
slight damage nerf and stun will give viper a slight chance to come back.
Jump back kunai will allow player to go in on her, unless she uses ex… i think?

Blanka: (+Viper)
Ok he’s always been annoying. With slide nerf thats good.
Ball landing…could be good or bad, hard to tell, in the moment you block the ball you must react with the proper seismo distance or just ex seismo.
Hop nerf = less annoyance.
hitbox on ball…or hittable box is beter for us…
rainbow nerf is good too. but the only thing is more poeple will spam electricity…

Abel(+Viper)
What can I say, hes just weaker now, U2 is less brainless…

Since I always thought this match was annoying and kinda hard. Most his air normals can beat yours, his ground normals are decent to begin with. and once he crosses you, he keeps crossing, its hard to really get out.
Now…
He has target combos…cancelling mk and c.mp
They reduce his hitbox on lp? wtf?? we need more c.mk hitbox!!!

I thought the spd range was insane already…
but at least the only moves that can knock us down is trip and lariat now…
I really dont know if this match will be worse or better, there will be less vortex, but overall he’s better.

Hes slightly stronger, hes given back his autocorrect dp since the AS is fixed.

Dan (-Viper)
Dan has a 3f normal now (not sure if he did before)
He has huge normal buffs.
His tatsu got a slight nerf… but its more annoying than the damage.

Dudley(-Viper)

Guile (+Viper)
Damage nerf everywhere, yay!

Seth(-viper)
Even though he lost his j.hp, his vortex is still insane, and with godlike normals, options, and more health and dizzy meter, he will be another akuma essentially, i would think hes harder than before, i think the only thing that kept him 5-5 before was his health.

I think he was always annoying to viper (Namely his flash kick, jackknife?), complete invincible?!?! . Now he seems harder.
seriously? all these frame adjustments, and removing hittable boxes…and reducing Ultra recovery…no one thought about viper???

really not too many changes, more invince in mp dp. no tatsu escape, less adamage and stun on ex tatsu

What happened is that hes better at pressure and footsies but lost the wakeup invincibility essentially.

Its good that she stands better vs Ryu, Rufus, vega and Elf, Not sure if it was necessary against chun.
Hopefully viper can last a bit longer against honda now. All that rose really lost was ultra on viper…still will be annoying…
Abel nerfs are good, longer battles with him.
Blanka is overall nerfed, but to punish the balls, we need to pay attention to where it goes.
