I was messing around in training mode with the whole record/playback feature for player 2 and I decided to record a simple jump in (c.FK) with Ryu. I was specifically looking for other antiair possibilities for Guile instead of just c.FP, and trying to judge the exact angles that I have trouble with.
Well, after knocking Ryu out of the air, I noticed it takes a long time for him to hit the ground and make a recovery. So, I went ahead and decided to tack on a Sonic Hurricane and see if it hit him or if he touches the ground and was able to block. Well, it looks like he wasn’t able to block it.
I also tested it online against a Ryu, twice. It didn’t work either time. Did I not have the correct training dummy settings? I had it set to all block. Or is it simply lag is what prevents it from connecting?

And if it turns out that this can indeed be done, can it be done offline or with certain characters?
To be honest, I feel like this is something so simple that somebody else would have caught this way before I did.
Thoughts? Anybody want to test this or is this just a weird fallacy in the CPU settings?
Cr.fp doesn’t put your opponent in a juggle state, that’s why it doesn’t combo.
If you hit someone in the air and they fall on their backs (besides untechable knockdowns like throws, sweeps, and Ultras) then they were in a juggle state. If you hit them and they do a backflip, then they’re not in a juggle state.
You can’t really chip a shoto up close any way (or any other character with a move that has invincibility in the beginning and moves them out of the way) cause they can just mash out a dp or Ultra or something.
Even if it’s been brought up before, don’t be afraid to ask this question in the “moveset” thread.
That’s not what he was pointing out–if you bothered to watch the video you’d notice that despite Ryu being on all-block, he was unable to block Sonic Hurricane upon landing. That’s what he was bringing up. The problem is, “all block” doesn’t do anything when your opponent is set to “replay” since replay takes priority over all block. You’re asking the computer to replay exactly what you had him do–you didn’t block after the jump in, so the computer won’t either.
Now, if all of the idiots that post here could -please- post this bullshit in the respective threads, stickied at the top of the fucking page, we’d be able to discuss this without every single person that responds to it repeating “Post this shit in the stickies at the top”.
This could have either gone in the moveset or the combo thread. Don’t be afraid to post there, no one gives a shit if you put something incorrectly in there as one post is significantly less clutter than an entire thread.
…Again, not at all what was being pointed out nor even remotely alluded to. Sonic Hurricane, Sonic Hurricane, Sonic Hurricane, Sonic Hurricane. The OP didn’t know how training mode worked, refer to my first post to see what he did wrong.
do you think that one of the mods would let one of us mod the guile forum so we can delete/close threads, sticky good threads ect? i’d be up to the challenge. anyone know who’s the man to ask?
Hey man, thanks for the correction. I never really used training mode except to work on links, and even then I never touched the recording dummy feature. And yeah, I apologize about the clutter. I wasn’t paying attention when I posted this thread. Thanks for the answers, everybody.
Damn man. Sorry I couldn’t watch the video. I typed that shit out on an iTouch while waiting for my turn to play at a friend’s house. I know your name, so I know you know mine since we’ve been posting here since SF4’s release; you could direct people to the correct place to post without being such a douche.
I know a lot of OG Guile players are pissed at all the new blood, but that doesn’t really give us the right to be total dicks to everyone.
