Magneto’s dashing hasn’t been slowed, only the distance got nerfed. His new gravity manipulation move more than makes up for nerfed disruptor and dash distance.
Also, Dr. Strange for god tier.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. The delay between beam could give Bolts of Ballsack a Sentinel Force like effect for assists, which is pretty sweet. On point I can see Bolts of Ballsack being useful in conjunction with Grace of Hoggoth and Fire of the Faltine to further help his zoning. If the opponent tries a super, even fast ones like Shinkuu Hadoken or Chaotic Flame, super cancel into Beam counter.
Damn, I’m afraind of Strange.

Oh no, I’m not saying Dr. Strange is a bad character or anything. I think he looks amazing actually. I just think that hes just going to be one of those characters thats going to completly replace an older character because they surpass them in so many levels. And I saw those videos that weren’t posted on SRK at the time. When I said “nobody really played as him” I was referring to people not playing as MODOK.
oh ok. i hear ya. I really hope they beef up MODOK a bit, as well as the rest of the mid / low tier. Cause so far it seems like most of the new characters are looking really strong. I hope Capcom gives us a reason to stick with some of the vanilla chars.
Just imagine fighting against Dr. Strange in a slightly laggy online match, while he has 3 red / yellow orbs on screen, bolts of ballsack, then he teleports behind you while doing fly / unfly / overhead pressure, all while sentinel drones are heading towards you.
How the hell are you gonna be able to outzone him? I keep looking at the vids and that Mystic Sword is as fast as EM Disruptor. It’s the same speed. Same startup. And it can go at a 45 angle.

Co Sign… All of the new crap they added she needs her old laughable health back and at a bare minimum two air moves so you can at least double air Tele mix up. Jeez not everyone tosses salty balls and runs away.
Edited to add. I play Phoenix and have never played a run away phoenix I play her as rush down and mixup. I feel like Capcom punished those of us who actually took the character seriously. I dont think I ever get to use DP because im always using combos that end with her super which is godly by its self.
Or the fact they do high damage and she has high health. Or can use them to grab people with. Never knew. But back on Strange.
So he can turn his fireball into a beam as well as ricochet it as well as having a double beam blaster? So fun. Also when he does his aerial combo, I am seeing potential of a possible ROM.
EDIT: Agree. Phoenix need to be un nerfed. The new chars are just insane.
I am actually kind of disappointed, despite how FUCKING FABULOUS this guy looks, that they apparently made his fundamals rather herp-derp magneto-ish ON TOP of giving him a ton of useful crap. He’d better have some balancing weakness besides low health. I really was hoping for/expecting a much more skill-oriented and difficult character, but it seems players will be able to rock teleports, sword and regular combos and do just fine.
Think it’s too early to be calling buffs/nerfs. Lets see when the game comes out, yeah? Bolts of Ballsack!
He seems like a good anchor. That teleport and those projectile traps with X-factor might make him the new Phoenix.
iron fist will counter this guy. he’ll have moves that’ll blow right through projs left and right. BET IT.
Rocket Raccoon will counter him too. lasers > magic. BET IT.
And all of that didn’t even kill Dante (until the chip), who has a pretty damn low-health.
Sure, he’s good. He won’t have a ridiculously high damage output, however.
At low levels he won’t. Higher levels, seeing his damage output increase.
I completely agree, I played Phoenix more as a rush down and not afraid to use meter, she has so much potential than to be more than mashing crouching L as DP. As far as Doctor Strange goes I like him a lot from what I have seen and he could very well be the new “Phoenix”. He looks so fun to play but I do hope as someone mentioned that a lot of the mid/low tier characters in vanilla MVC3 get some buffs so that they are still viable and not forgotton with all the new characters coming in
It looks to me as if he has at least two Phoenix’s teleports. Teleport above and behind. He can EASILY set two air Grace of Hoggath traps and teleport behind you. The resulting beam off the ricochet then crumples you.

plus he can combo into Astral Magic (his level 3) pretty easily (like, during a grounded magic series or after that move which seems to stun / crumple you). So he’s got a little Wesker flavor too.
So he’s basically like a combination of Dark Phoenix (traps / tracking fireballs, teleports, flight), Dorm (pillars, power-up / status projectiles), Wesker (counter specials, easy level-3 combos), Magneto (fly/unfly nonsense), MODOK (bomb-like projectiles that stay on-screen), Sentinel (double-beam projectile, great assist).
And on top of all that, he has a fully invulnerable / instant beam hyper (which I’m pretty sure is a first for this game)
Dr Strange seems to play like a beefed up Venom from Guilty Gear; both rely on traps, projectile ping pongs, teleport, and projectile lockdowns. And if he’s as much like Venom as he seems to be, Strange willl require some time and setup to output the awesome.
