Yea it hit a jumping akuma so I guess in most situations it’ll work. Another question, if its a strange mirror, one fires a projectile, the other uses the counter and the first uses the counter to counter the projectile counter which will win? Anyone have any ideas?
Plus strange looks to have the best assists of all the new characters so far, that double beam is mad sexy, shame it misses on some ducking characters(or good since I play ammy). But it just seems to have a lot of potential, plus it seems it staggers on hit as well so thats always good as well. Eye of aggamato woulda been a nice assist if it was possible for the point character to interact with it but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Max’s next Q&A episode after Ghost Rider/Firebrand will likely be Strange/Nemesis. that’s a good idea if you want some Strange-related info that isn’t already in this here thread. can’t wait to see what his day 1 combos look like imo.
(Ha at all the whores flocking to Vergil as soon as he’s announced. [/late])

Hmm…suddenly, I’m even more glad that Doctor Strange didn’t get air dashes.
“Ironically”, this still affects the first Doctor Strange team I’m probably going to mess around with at this point of Ryu (Hadouken), Strange (Bolts of Balthakk), and Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer), even though that’s probably not a good team. If Morrigan can’t block off her ground dash, that would be a huge problem/oversight.
Yeah, the first hits of Bolts of Balthakk seem like they stagger, so given that and how quick his teleport is, that’s probably a good bet, even if it may “only” work in X-Factor Level 3.
has -anyone- been able to relaunch with OTG L Disc? I think you might need to delay the flying screen knockdown with S after a launcher then time the relaunch accordingly. Day 1 midscreen B&B should be magic series xx impact palm xx Y grace, Y grace -> launcher -> MMH (slight pause) S -> L Disc (OTG), launcher, MMHS, M Discs xx SoV. I wonder on the damage of his normals though. are they more or less as strong as Viper’s? a basic relaunch combo should net you around 700k easily if that’s the case.
I’d rather see how he performs without an air dash. I’m pretty sure Capcom has crafted his style so he can mix you up and hit you without it. He wouldn’t be that strange if he had an air dash any way. Fits his character. Capcom always makes sure each character has something unique that instantly throws you off or makes you go “oh wow…that’s not like this or that character”. Especially when it comes to the new characters they’re trying to make sure they all have their own unique traits and dont clone up each other’s move sets too much.
that sounds pretty good, yeah. any confirmation on the corner Mystic Swords loop? that’s the one I’m most excited about. and regarding picking opponents up into a combo, he doesn’t have an airdash so it might be difficult to come up with air-to-air options. ground mixups with teleport may be his best bet. we’re not even sure what air impact palm does against an airborne opponent lol, but I suspect it might be a soft knockdown.
and btw, H Swords IS comboable midscreen, but I think only two reps of H Swords dash forward Impact Palm will be possible before they’re pushed too far away. I don’t know why you’d save your IP crumple for later, I mean your opponent must be on the ground for the crumple to take effect anyway. otherwise it’s just a soft knockdown.
