grace should be quick to check, as far as anyone knows red doesn’t power up at all, so its ony seeing what the Y combos do

His assists, and whether that beam counter hyper works well against non-hyper beams.

just basically need a confirmation if Y-R and vice versa mixing doesn’t have any unique effects. if it really doesn’t, then come November, we should be doing all three of one color ONLY during setups and either during combos.

hell see if the beam counter works against Wesker Pistol and Vergil Swords.

Edit, altho timing against pistol would be so damn hard as to be totally impractical, I’m curious for ‘rules’ reasons :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yeah, one thing I should point out from yesterday’s test. I did the beam counter to Phoenix’s balls, she activated phoenix rage after my counter animation and still got countered CLEAN. Either they took her invincibility off on startup or it out right eats all projectiles once it’s already out.

It also has A LOT of active frames so if done in reaction to Dante’s missiles, it will still stay out and then counter it. So no tele mixups.

A projectile counter super wouldn’t be good if it still had to trade with other projectiles so that makes sense. It might as well just be a beam super if it doesn’t kill projectiles.

I like what Im hearing bout strange, glad to see(for now at least) he isn’t gonna be the brain dead broken character everyone seemed to think he would be, although I hope he isn’t so difficult that he ends up like modok where barely anyone even bothers. Hopefully we can get some high level play from neoempire or the fight club soon.

he sounds like he’d be about Viper-level rather than Modok level. He has some good baseline tricks that just about anybody can use but will have some skill barriers to damage conversion and safety.

About red graces remember that flames don’t accelerate with red grace, so barring instnat uses and controlled situations like after a knockout, it seems like it’d be pretty damn hard to get them to explode when you want.

Yea I was thinking(hoping) the same thing, in that he ends up more like viper than modok. You raise a very interesting point about the red graces, although I can’t believe capcom would overlook something so obvious, so maybe he will have some practical set-ups for the red graces. I mean he has so many unique tools I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something we are all overlooking.

I wonder if they otg; I could see having planting some red along the ground and in the corner,launching flames mid combo and trying to knock them into the corner. Situational as hell, but it might work.

Or more likely it’ll be combo>gracex2>flames (grace explodes immediately, picking up target)>combo of choice.

It’ll be a while before people find good setups/placement for graces outside of combos. It will most likely require the use of assists buying him time to set them up so he can teleport into or behind the opponent where he can set them up near the graces.

problem I think with using red grace isn’t just the difficulty of getting good setups, its the difficult execution of both timing the slow-ass fireball into useful explosions, and hoping nothing random (like an assist or a body) eats the fireball before it gets to the graces.

The reward you get for getting it to happen seems pretty strong though. Both red and yellow graces if completed by a FoF will give you another free 50/50 when their super projectile releases that becomes a seperate non assist based projectile that stay active before he teleports. Which if that doesn’t work he can call an assist afterwards and set up another 50/50 and then call more projectiles on top of that and then there’s 50/50’s through the roof plus heavy chip. If they don’t get hit by something at that point then something is generally wrong any way.

You’re going to want to be flooding the screen up with mystic swords, disks of denaks to mitigate the chances of FoF getting blown up any way. Which would give you more mix ups in the middle of things before it goes off any way.

I wonder what would happen if you were to do Strange’s beam-counter against one of Ryu’s new invisible fireballs. They travel pretty freaking fast, but the startup of 7 Rings may be faster. Seems like an interesting situation to me.

I have to wonder if Strange will end up being like MODOK, where everyone (Including commentators) think he sucks/is only a zoner, but he actually has solid rushdown.

If the model of the other counter supers is true, (and I’m remembering right), should be invulnerable and counter from frame one, I’m guessing it won’t be terribly hard. Or you could just see him charging and throw Spell of Vishanti for the same meter!
