first post updated again. thanks Jocelot. did it say anything about his hypers?
in other news, I’m quite upset because AGAIN I know I’m gonna get blown up playing as Strange when I do Impact Palm when I intended to do a back throw… why can’t it just be :f::s: or :s:?
(Ugh. I disappear for 12 hours and people start talking about tiers and “brokenness” again already. Have I remembered lately to tell you all that I hate most of you?)
Haggar still functions as a “GTFO” me assist, but he’s not stupidly invulnerable to lows forever, most characters can duck him rather easily and it’s…Haggar, who sucks on point and I haven’t heard much about Capcom trying to improve that in UMvC3 (yet).
If we’re talking about Nemesis in here (for some reason), then I’d say that, yes, it looks like he’ll have the least (obvious) “potential” of any of the new characters thus far, but he looks like he’ll probably actually have tools to win (by himself) unlike a lot of the characters that have trouble in MvC3. All his supers seem more than decent, he has excellent range, a more than decent projectile, a command throw and super armored assists in a game where most assists can be jabbed into oblivion if you’re close enough. Sure, he maybe won’t be able to blow scrubs by just pushing a button (with hyper armor) like Hulk or Sentinel (who I still don’t see why people are comparing him to), but I really doubt he’s going Hsien-ko bad or at least be overshadowed by another character with a more effective version of his playstyle like Ryu or Iron Man currently have to content with.
Anyway, since neither of these are characters are Strange, I’ll stop talking about them (here) so that we can back to talking about how sexy Dr. Strange’s man legs are apparently and how hilarious that Dr. Strangelove win quote is.
I know several people already answered why those people are idiots, but I just have to respond to this since it gives me a reason to paraphase MIB.
It’s because “a person can be smart, but people are dumb, panicky animals and you know it.”
Wow, Illusion is a lot more ridiculous than I expected AND it’s a lot better than having Bolts of Balthakk as that command. I really don’t know what the fuck they were thinking about that one, but oh well, more for people to “get hype” about because of seeming brokenness I guess–I’m counting whining about said “brokenness” as hype since it means that people are at least talking about him.
Thanks for the confirmation, though. Nice to see I wasn’t that off (thanks to :034: and what he [?] posted).
It mentioned his hypers, but unfortunately not the commands for them.
I’m still mind bottled by Illusion’s command and it’s apparent versatility. Counter any incoming move with a simple :h:? Wow, that’s crazy. I agree, there are a lot of command normals in this game. But even if you mess up your Impact Palm or Illusion, you do get a throw option select out of it. Worst situation is a throw break.
EDIT: OR the situation you described. Derp/
I’m thinking the Illusion counter is going to have very strict timing, having you required to Actually do backward H instead of jsut be moving backwards and pressing H, or requiring you to press on the moment their attack connects.
Also, why do all the best moves have to be DPs and RDPs? Fuck, I don’t have a problem with getting execution down, but the shit ruins the joysticks of my controllers.
at least we’re not all gonna be playing Dante, who needed double DP motions for volcano > beehive in vanilla. shudders thank god that crap is gone in UMvC3. I don’t even wanna know how a double RDP feels like.
Maybe Spell of Vishanti recovers fast? Rekoha DHCd Vishanti, and you could be able to move before Rekoha finished maybe? Hell, you could probably also DHC Vishanti and so long as the 3rd character’s hyper would hit after Rekoha anyways Vishanti should still come out, since it starts up fast enough to hit even if you trade a normal with Strange apparently. It keeps going like Rekoha but starts faster from whats been seen.
Although seriously the button change helps a lot, even though I am going to make SOOOO many mistakes when I first am getting used to it. I haven’t played a fighting game of any kind lately for months, probably just going to turn in MvC3 for Ultimate and start up again with a blank slate.
as a Dante player myself (as of last week at least Q.Q) I’m pretty sure most of his combos are still intact in UMvC3 albeit with some changes. Dante’s still gonna be beast anyway. his day 1 sky dance combo doesn’t work anymore though I welcome the double tapping for style changes. it’s definitely way easier on the execution and less pressuring to just DP and double tap M instead of rekka-ing DP.
weekdays are just around the corner and since we know like 85% of Strange’s moveset at this point, I expect I’m gonna be daydreaming combos and setups with him. lol. does anyone know if there’s a limit to the number of crumples you can do in a combo, btw? I’m already imagining a c.L, c.M, c.H xx Impact Palm, fly, M H S, launch, M M H S, spell of vishanti B&B and I haven’t even played Strange yet lol.
edit: dibs on the setups thread.
“By Hoggoth, your brainless antics would try the patience of a saint!” - Doctor Strange resets and setups.
For me Dante didn’t change much as long as hammer still blows through everything and hits overhead. I already got replacement combos for him and his style cancels are easier to do now so effectively for me he’s not much changed except easier to play.
Now I finally understand how the grace of hoggoth works. It seems like a variation of dormammu’s dark force stuff. Using all 3 of one color or combining the colors will yield different results. Which potentially means that just like Dorm’s stuff it’s a special move that could most likely end up creating up to 6 different other special moves. Lots to memorize LOL.
Counter teleport countering all attacks that aren’t supers is going to be funny.
Sounds like his assists are going to be…
Light Magic L (L disc of denak)
Light Magic H (eye of agomotto)
Bolts of Balthakk
Since the point character can’t do their own impact pulse I guess eye of agomotto as an assist will be pretty much used like molecular shield or dark hole simply for lockdown against advance guards or combo extensions.
Gods, I’m hype. Just saw Seth demo Strange and I was impressed by how quickly the light versions of the disk came out.
I know it’s overspecializing, but I’m looking forward to a trap heavy team, like Dorm/Strange/Trish, or maybe some MODOK/Doom thrown in. Guuuuuh, want so bad. I’m just trying to imagine what nonsense he could do with the Hidden Missiles or Peek-a-boo on his side.
i too am tempted to chose my team after strange’s reveal. however, there is still a bunch of characters left to reveal that could pair well with dr. strange…but i could def see trish/Dr. Strange being “best friends” w/ their trap synergy
