What the hell I did an entire campaign with only pistols and never got the akimbo assassin achievement. I did grab a propane tank and dropped it again without swing it though. Could that have fucked it up?

Same thing happened to me…I was not happy.
I think it had something to do with me picking up a grenade.

I didn’t even pick up a primary weapon throughout the whole time.

Since we’re on the topic of stupid shit happening keeping us from achievements, I completed Death Toll on expert, survived, but didn’t get it to count towards my expert achievement because I took a little extra time to load into each chapter, so, bots took over for literally 30-50 seconds, so no achievement at the end.

Then I did Episode 3 on expert, also survived, no bot ever took over, didn’t get the achievement. Supposedly it has something to do with you never dying ever in the finale chapters, that’s some bullshit.

I got Akimbo Assassin using Molotovs and Pipebombs, so, I guess it had to be something else that kept you from getting that achievement. I’m glad I got to play on Expert VS though, matches end in about 2 minutes tops.

I got my fill of this game. I haven’t played in a week. I took a break to finish Fallout 3, and now that I have, I want to at least finish one campaign on expert.

He was doing pretty good until he randomly sprayed some dude with bullets while we were healing up.

The achievements do seem pretty wonky at times but I did manage to get Akimbo Assassin without using any guns including the mounted machine gun, just the pistols. I used pipe bombs, Molotovs, and gas cans to great effect. Can’t remember if I picked any cans or tanks up but I definitely shot them. It might be my imagination but I almost feel like I do better with the dual pistols. =/

Yep that happened to me as well to get it just:

Dont pick up a secondary weapon
Dont pick up any gas tanks/propaine tanks
Dont pick up any molotovs / pipe bombs
Dont use the gun turret

Do this and you should be fine. :wgrin:

Fixed exploit of “hugging” the Witch from behind where she can’t hit you

Fixed players not being kicked from a vote by changing their name before it succeeds

Disabled difficulty change votes from the console in versus mode

Xbox 360 Left 4 Dead hacked, is now grief-tastic

Left 4 Dead is a great game, but since both the co-op and versus modes require other people, you know things are going to go badly. While the PC version has seen its share of hacks and exploits, it looks like the Xbox 360 version is also starting to see a good collection of hackers and griefers ruin the game. Mario, one of our more aptly-named readers, sent in an e-mail detailing his experiences.

“Hey Ben, I am a huge fan of Left 4 Dead; unfortunately, I don’t have a PC that can handle the game, so I play on my 360,” he wrote. “Versus mode is a blast, but recently, I joined a game and found myself in a safe house at the beginning of a chapter. Suddenly, about 30 witches spawned in the safe house with me, followed by two tanks.”

For those unfamiliar with the game, a witch is a very powerful monster who can knock down a player with one hit. The Tank is exactly what it sounds like, a huge brute that can wipe out an entire team if used correctly. There is usually only one of each per level, and sometimes not even that.

“Needless to say, somebody found a way to implement PC console-type commands on the 360 version. Here is a video of the nightmare in action. Even worse, this video details the ridiculously simple process of performing this exploit on your own,” Mario told Ars. “I just wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes of you mentioning it as the more exposure this gets, the more likely Valve will patch it. They didn’t support TF2 on the 360 and the online community virtually died. Please help your 360 brethren out, if you can!”

Well, I can give the issue some exposure, but it’s up to Valve to patch things up to stop these exploits. The best advice I can give people would be to play with people you know and trust. This is one of the many reasons I only play on Xbox Live when I know there are going to be people I know personally online.

experts been kicking my ass on the 360. I’ve joined countless games and my teamates always fuck it up. I can’t even get past the second level of No Mercy. Anyone on the east coast give me a friend request my GT’s ShinLad i’m pretty beastly at this game and need an elite team.

Anyone on the PC version got a 4-man team for versus that wants to go against another 4-man? It’d be nice to play against some better people. And to play a team that won’t quit if they don’t win the first round.

Messed around with the server again, made it connectible through the lobby system, just gotta use the console command “sv_search_key srk55499” So instead of dealing with searching for dedicated servers, that’ll just plug you into a Chicago based one. It doesn’t save once you close the game so you gotta do it each time you play.

Oh and we definitely need to have some kinda organized full 4 v 4 SRK versus matches. Everything I’ve done so far has been a few SRK people beating on scrubs. It’d be nice to get some solid matches in.

Had a good time tonight, finally got the whole game beat on Expert. It’s fun, but it can be frustrating when you’re punished for doing too well (the game stops giving you molotovs and shit)
