I feel like they’re both wrong. People saying “He had to protect the passengers”, do you really think he tiger uppercutted this chick because he was concerned for his or anyone elses safety? Sure he could probably use that and self-defense as justification in court, which is probably where this is heading, but c’mon he was obviously just fed up. I dont blame him though.
Wouldn’t you be fed up with someone coming at you while you’re driving? If it were any other situation, he could maybe just walk away or go away. While driving, he can’t go anywhere so he had to sit and take it. There’s no protocol for this shit. He can’t verbally kick her out, she wouldn’t have given a shit. Couldn’t just stay at one stop until she left, she wouldn’t have bothered and the bus would be even more tremendously behind schedule. What, was he supposed to beg the passengers to get rid of her?

Stop the bus, call the police and let them handle it. If she makes another move against you then you can defend yourself.
In this case he lost his temper and hit her in retaliation. He can’t use self defense since she wasn’t coming at him again. He shouldn’t have engaged her in trading insults nor done anything to escalate the situation.
Not retaliating in that type of situation isn’t easy because tempers are bound to flare but if he’d handled it properly he’d still have his job and pention as opposed to praise of a bunch of random people on the internet.

From the story we’ve gotten so far, she got on the bus claiming she forgot her backpack, but she didn’t pay which obviously the driver took issue with so he kept trying to get the damn fare from her to which after a while she paid and then went off to what we heard about later. At least, that’s from memory, the story link is somewhere in the thread…
As for stopping the bus and calling the police, congrats, the bus is held up for 20+ minutes while the woman gets to go off on the dude doing whatever the hell she wants and probably attacking him more AND the bus schedules are fucked up for the day. Not to mention she, again, attacked and spit on him while driving the bus. She shouldn’t even HAVE another opportunity to do so.
Call the police… if they are anything like the police in my neighborhood, that means you’re going to be dealing with this crazed person for AT LEAST 45mins to an hour before they show up… good luck with that.
