I still dont know how to read those numbered annotation or understand the benefit to take the time learning what each number means. Can you post the combo with the images on shoryuken or just say c. for crouching and j. for jumping?

The only thing you need against Phoenix is 3 HC bars and Dorm. If you snap her in or she is simply comming in activate a Floating Bomb XFC, activate a second Floating Bomb, as you recover do a Chaotic Flame! This will chip her to death before she hits the ground and activates X-Factor. GAME OVER YOU WIN!
here’s my take on dormammus spells
-i’m finding 1D/1C to be a lot more practical for combos. starting with 1 meter, a combo consisting of two assists (easy), two aircombos (easy), and sjc1D/1C, will allow you to build enough meter (approx 2 meters depending) midcombo and buy enough time for your teammate to be availiable for a Chaotic Flame DHC [insert super]. depending on who you’re using, it’ll do anywhere from 900K±1mil+, so it’ll kill a majority of the cast with one hit. if you start with approx 1.2 meters, you should have 3 meters by the time hellfire is hitting, so you have more options to do damage (lvl3, DHCx3, etc.). after you kill their first character you can go for UB on their next and pile on the hurt. ppl are robbing themselves of big damage with [S, BBCE, purification xx CF] combos.
-1D/2C…tactically, this is great for stalling your opponent to get more spells. combowise, it has to be done early in a combo to make it useful b/c of hitstun deterioration. its good for getting LOTS of meter midcombo for Dark Dimension combos. lvl3’s don’t scale in damage, so tacking on his lvl3 for a guaranteed 400K and postcombos is worthwhile. also, while 1D/2C is hitting you have time to charge two dark spells before you complete your combo. which leads me to…
-3D. excellent after Dark Dimension b/c it’ll always launch your opponent regardless of hitstun deterioation. you can connect with sjc1D/2C, spell, spell xx Dark Dimension, spell, 3D, portal xx Chaotic Flame. combos like these normally take 2 meters to start and will kill the heavies. not to mention how good 3D is just as a punish.
-1D, 2D, 1C, 2C, 3C…all bleh, even though 3C can be used to set up UB’s in some circumstances
-2D/1C this would be so much better if it was more consistent. building an entire meter on its own is very valuable, but this shit takes precision height and little hitstun deterioation. truthfully, i only find this useful after an xfactor activation, and even then its not really needed in a lot of cases.

Same here, I usually beat other Dorms because they don’t know how to pre-emptively place Dark holes and Liberation, or which normals to use up close. Whenever I do lose to some it’s because I give them so much respect, since I’m scared of what they might do. I’m usually thinking that they’re thinking exactly what I’m thinking, and they know all the shit i do. It’s a MINDFUCK.
I thought I was the only one. I love Dormammu because, no matter where you are or what you are doing, Purification is just half a second away. I take this to heart, and when I see Dormammu on the screen, I freak out a bit.

I cant record or I would have a while ago. I did misread your previous post about the S wiffing but even so I still answered that in my last post by tellinging you that you the combo could be adjusted to M.TP, j.m,delay cr.hxxFlame Carpet, since i knew about S being iffy depenging the oppentets hit box or on how close your oppenet is afte M.TP . You might not feel that it’s worth while to try this combo and thats fine to each his own. So in the end it still comes down to if you dont like it, dont use it.
I think it would be easier to talk about who he doesnt match up well against lol. He’s good against a wide variety of characters…
That being said I think it’s better to discuss his general weaknesses as opposed to making it character specific. For instance, without flame carpet, dormammu is weak against very fast close range mixup, ESPECIALLY when a command throw is involved. I say it like that because more than one character fit this category. Without throws you have wolvie, tasky, maggy, zero, etc. With a throw you have x-23, shulkie, haggar, etc. Getting characters like this off of you without flame carpet is difficult. ESP since he’s slow on the ground, back dashes have no invincibility, and he can get ticked out of Chaotic flame. Problem solving? nope. just lay more flame carpets and watch them call you cheap lol…
here’s my take on dormammu in general
dormammu is a teambased character in the sense that he’s average by himself, but with the right teammates, he becomes exponentially more effective. think the difference between mvc2 strider/doom and strider/anyone else. strider was decent with a lot of different assists because of the nature of his tools, but he really became dangerous with doomAAA. dormammu’s the same way. technically, he can be played with virtually the entire cast, but i think he really shines with certain characters, namely Thor, Dante, Doom, Skrull, Sent, and IM. All of these characters enhance dormammus best tools in some way.
the best thing about dormammu is that there’s no real playstyle that dominates him. the hardest thing about dormammu is a little execution is needed but moreso, you need to know what you can do with his meter and his team for optimal results. practice and experimentation will solve that. he needs a little polishing, namely c.B. the hitbox on that is shitty for small characters as we all know but he has alternatives. i love the big hitboxes on his jumping normals. triangle jump jab shouldn’t be ignored. outside of combos, Dark Dimension is also useful as a general counter move. players not paying attention to dormmamus meter will throw something out just to get realmed (or xfgc~DD) and the combo doesn’t stop there. Dark Dimension also makes successful air exchanges into dorm buff. his throw resets are really dangerous where applicable. i also would like to see his creation spikes OTG again. still can’t figure out why those were removed. flame carpet/assist/teleport anti-pushblock traps and UBs are too good.

Thor Mighty Smash assist is godlike for dorm. try it, you’ll like it.
Skrull Tenderizer assist really helps dorm combos (probably the most combo friendly assist for dorm) plus skrull is a decent enough character. unfortunately, its usefulness doesn’t go beyond combos.
I understand. I hate Thor, so no go on that one. Jam Session is infinitely better than Tenderizer for Dormammu.

Hi i started using Dorm about two weeks ago. When you use 3D0C against assists, can you continue with dark hole into chaotic flame? Because they seem to get blown offscreen before i can finish them everytime, so i was wondering if it acts like Chaotic Flame & knocks the assist offscreen…
